  1. I work on a 13-bed step-down unit at a large, academic level 1 trauma center, so my experience may be different. We take 2-3 patients each, depending on acuity, and they can be on drips, vents, have art lines, etc. Our population consists of any patient except for CV patients who have their own step-down. Lots and lots of respiratory failure and trauma patients. I enjoy it because I have learned a ton, especially in regard to vents, drips, etc. If you are thinking of moving to the ICU in the future, it's a great place to start. Good luck!
  2. I agree with you 110%. It's heartbreaking to see, and sometimes makes me angry. At the end of the day though, all I can do is do my job of educating patients and families and letting them make their own decisions. It seems simple to me until I imagine these were my own parents in this situation and I don't know if I could "be ok" with letting them go, even if I knew it was for the best.
  3. 1. Creighton University 2. DNP in Adult Acute Care 3. Working full-time 4. Part time school 5. Terrified!! Very, very excited but also scared!
  4. Yeah I guess. They caught me before I even got the room though so I don't know what they'd do if you had it in there. Might be too risky!!
  5. I tried to be sneaky and do this but when they took my picture the lady handed me a Kleenex to spit it out. . They make you get rid of everything, watches, earrings, gum, etc. And they check all of your pockets too!
  6. I really suggest the NCLEX 3500 questions that you can find online. Just google "NCLEX 3500" and they will be the 4th or 5th result down. They were more difficult than the Kaplan, Saunders, and ATI questions that I did, but more like the questions I saw in the actual NCLEX. I really think the questions from Kaplan, etc are way too easy and did not do much to help me. I found out today that I passed so hopefully these questions can help you too! Good luck!! :)
  7. Hi there! I took the NCLEX-RN yesterday and tried the PVT and got the same pop up about my results being on hold. I checked again today and the pop up changed to the one that says to contact my member board, can't re register, etc. I would keep checking to see if they change the pop up, but I wanted to let you know I got the same one at first too and then it changed. Good luck! :)
