  1. FYI- The party is over for me after passing the NCLEX-RN in California 2 months ago, it has worn off. anyhow, it is hard to find jobs in Southern California, every hospitals, hospices, rehabs, government offices, Dr. Offices, are all saturated with 400 -500 applications, one hospital in Southern Cal is only hiring from a local community college as they have a contract with them (unfair ha!), some hospitals will only hire that are freshly grad from OCT-DEC 2009 (which is unfair too), I guess is who you know, and if you have your foot already in the door..i.e. doing volunteer work or apply as a CNA (although you have your RN license) just do it, ALSO, SOME HOSPITALS WILL ONLY HIRE U.S. ACCREDITED SCHOOLS -NO OFFENSE FOR FOREIGN GRADS BUT I AM A U.S. GRAD THAT OWED STUDENT LOANS HERE IN THE U.S. (INTEREST, SUBSIDIZED AND UNSUBSIDIZED LOANS FROM FEDERAL U.S. GOVT.)-I THINK THIS IS FAIR... ALSO, YOU HAVE JOHN HOPKINS GRADS, UCSF GRADS, STANDFORD GRADS, UCLA GRADS- WHO GETS THE JOB OF COURSE THE IVY LEAGUE GRADS...........SORRY FOR THE RANT BUT THESE ARE THE FACTS......
  2. AB Normal- it took 7 days when my name got posted on CA BRN. Regards.... Sasha fierce
  3. Hi Heckler- Don't give up with your dream. Majority of the posters that went all the way to the CC page, even me on my first NCLEX-RN attempt (I failed)- then with the next try it won't let me pay and I passed. Therefore, through my experience and the facts that back it up with this theory, yes, it is true. Stay positive, time will tell, and you will pass!!!
  4. Dear Joshky- The trick worked for me from California, the very 1st to the 5th day, mine had the same message- delivery successful then it says....pls. contact your BRN...you cannot register at this time..... and I passed.... This is an indication that you passed too, congratulations, and start celebrating but keep us posted. -Sasha fierce-
  5. Hello M.m.M- I took mine on Sept. 14, 2009 and saw my name on CA BRN on Sept. 21, 2009. The pearsonvue trick worked for me as well....pls..contact the BRN..and so forth....Some people that I know that had gotten the CC page- failed- but hey it was a long journey for me too...nursing school...and NCLEX.....it was an endless tunnel but finally my time has come I then received my California RN license card in 2 weeks then in 4 weeks the RN certificate license came in by mail, I was so happy to see my name engrave on the certificate and remembering all the hard work had been paid off. I can assume that if I can do it, then anybody can do it too. Regards to all the future nurses. -Sasha fierce-
  6. Hi Peachez8207: How I wish that I was tested on the areas that I'm really strong with (wishful thinking)but the reality is- NCLEX/Pearsonvue and your school don't talk on what you are going to be tested on, they wil test you with random questions , schools and BRN will only communicate regarding your transcripts-that's it. However, I passed the NCLEX-RN as well 2 months ago and the exam was extremely hard (the computer shuts off at 75 questions),which is so dreadful...I can imagine, anyhow, at least we have that RN license under our belts now it is time to hunt for jobs but the search is so competitive outhere in California one reason being is due to the economy plus there are so many newly grads and foreign RN grads who are all vying for one position. I wish you all the best and congratulations too! Sasha fierce
  7. Hi to the Superficial poster- I also graduated from Touro Univ. Henderson in May 2008, we were the 2nd batch (accelereated BSN/ELM), if I'm correct your group is the third accelerated BSN -your group is not the first BSN, the first BSN/ELM started in 2005 about 8 people were in it. Now, they replaced the BSN/ELM for a 16 mos. BSN, when I was still in nursing school- it was dreadfully hard ( exams, 5-10 chapters per week, clinicals ), if I have to start all over again I would have gone to a 16 months BSN or a 2 to 3 year program. It went pretty fast, however, if you have a very high IQ it's okay learning in 1 year then 6 mos. for the master's program is not enough and unrealistic, but I'm glad I did it and passed the NCLEX-RN (it's all over). The staff at Touro are very helpful and nice, they will provide you all the tools you needed to pass the boards....It was a great program!!! Hey you can't buy time but depending on your financial situation....I wish all the best for the future nurses.....
  8. I wish all the best for everybody, great job- well done, although the tunnel is endless don't give up with your dream. I myself took the NCLEX-RN many times and passed last month....If I can do it, anybody can do it, so stay positive and get that RN or PN license......
  9. Anybody can enter the U.S regardless nowadays, one can purchase a bogus SS# and greencard, it's a free country!
  10. hi all: first, congratulations to all who passed that are officially rn, lpn, or lvn. second, for second timers and so forth, do not give up with your dream. third, i also passed the boards a month ago and it had changed my life irrevocably. however, it is tough to find a job for freshly graduate rn nurse in the united states. when i attended a local hospital for an rn open house here in california i was shocked with all these new graduates in california, bunch from out of states too, and foreign graduates from philippines, kenya, europe, and so on. majority of my classmates had been idled for at least seven months. there are lots of stiff competition out there but really the job market even for u.s. newly grads is tight. on the other hand, it will be harder for foreign grads to penetrate the market due to its saturation. i have a neighbor here in california who came from the philippines as a tourist and overstayed. he told me that he challenged the nclex-rn in california and passed. fortunately, he had landed a job at a rehab center who sponsored him, his wife and his kids.anyway, i am sharing this real story because it is tough for everybody right now. there are hiring freeze of jobs in northern and southern california. take care everybody
  11. Hi Johnhoward: I have the same situation the first time I took NCLEX-RN. But with perseverance and prayers helped me get through and passed just last month. In addition, I've poured hundreds of dollars (course reviews) and time (studying 10-12 hrs. per day). As a result, it paid off. Now, I am an MSN,BSN, RN (attended an accelerated BSN/entry-level masters program). Just remember, whatever you reap you will sow it in the end. You can do it, anybody can, and stay positive! Sasha
  12. Hi Sisig- I took my NCLEX-RN on Sept. 14th,2009, and saw my name on BRN by the 7th day- on Sept. 22nd. I believe it is between 3-10 days.....
  13. When I took the NCLEX-RN exam 2 weeks ago, I thought I have failed..... I made some educated guess, the test was extremely hard but manage to passed...YOU PASSED AND CONGRATS!!!!I know it is a little bit premature to celebrate...However, my mind is telling me that you passed!!!!
  14. Tompho- you passed, I have the same message. But if you wanted to ease your mind call the NCSBN at 312.525.3600 and your state BON, here is the trick, ask them if you should re-register (NCSBN) and send the reapply/re-exam fee (BON), if they tell you not to just in case you pass you will lose your money, that is a good indication, I know they can't tell you over the phone,,, but try...that's what I did and I passed!!!!
  15. Hi Tompho, gradnurse, gillhi, and blessed (that was deep)- I really do believe that if you work hard, persevere , and believe in yourself you will get through with NCLEX. To tell you guys the truth, I took it before and didn't pass too. The next, next , time around I worked to the bones and finally passed the boards. I know the feelings and please don't quit with your dream because dreams do come true. If Nursing and NCLEX exam are easy then everybody will be doing it, I applaud myself, you guys, and the future nurses to keep on going. And lastly, pray, it has helped me go through this long emotional road...Best wishes and I know that you guys can do it,,,please stay positive......
  16. Hi- I have not heard of "further assistance, contact your BON-then someone fails", this is a passing indication. If cc page prompts you-it's not a very good sign.Unfortunately, this is true. It works for previous posters in this thread....
  17. It's in that site, their main office is in Chicago but they go in different locations for review, S.F., CA, Claremeont, CA, Burbank, CA, So. San Francisco, and Las Vegas. It is 10 days and the fee is $490..Yes, it is expensive but the long term investment after you passed is an awesome feeling.....and well worthed.....STAY POSITIVE AND PRAY....
  18. You are welcome, have you tried Zerwekh and Claborn-GOOD ILLUSTRATIONS AND PICTURES (from Barnes and Nobles-new edition is good), Saunders (Barnes and Nobles- new edition, B & Nobles), Springhouse Nurses Drug Guide 2008 or new edition is better at Barnes and Nobles- only study and memorize the 1st 90 pages includes antibiotic meds, antihyper meds, SSris(KNOW ALL THE NEW MEDS AND ADVERSE), La Charity from amazon.com for prioritization, and www.medspub.com, and EXCEL. Kaplan really didn't help me as well. But my recommendations helped me passed the boards. Don't give up with your dream, in time will come......like I did.
  19. Hi there- I took it in San Francisco, their site is www.excellnursingreview.com, it will list you the locations, and review dates, or you can e-mail Adel at [email protected]. Hope this helps!!!!
  20. I totally agree with gill...about flashcards, memorizing lab values (very impt.), and lots of questions. In addition, one of the reason I passed is that I took the EXCEL course review in person about 10 days where they teach you more about the contents, then I have cue cards, lab values, different types of new drugs remembering their adverse effects, know your ABC, prioritization, delegation, expected and unexpected outcomes, and 1500 questions from medspub.com (really hard NCLEX-type questions with rationales). These tools helped me passed the boards. However, before answering the questions I believed that one should know the contents first....
  21. Gill...just relax for a few days and then restructure your studying skills,if first or 2nd time around didn't work, that is okay. You have 45 days....to re-examine anyway....Best wishes.....
  22. Tompho: The trick works for me as well as my friend. It didn't let me pay at cc page with an infamous message "need further ass......contact your BON.....cannot register...". and I passed. If it will let you pay like my friend did after she took the test 2-4 days then she received the letter by mail after 2 weeks stating "she has not passed the NCLEX-RN"..Therefore, if it manages you to pay, unfortunately, it's not a good news..Hey, my friend did it 6th times by letting her pay on the CC page but on the 7th try it didn't let her after 1-2 days she passed. Hope this will give you and your friend a piece of mind. In life, we will encounter valleys, hills, and often cliffs, we just need to dust ourselves off and pick ourselves up where we left off. And don't forget to work(study) hard and pray. Because through perseverance and hard work work will pay off in time.
  23. wait until it says "delivery successful", I was in the same shoes 2 weeks ago and passed!
