  1. I live in NY, so it must be different where you are because it isn't a requirement here to be a CNA before becoming a RN. I went to a technical/vocational school to become an LPN back in 2000, and graduated in 2001. I fortunately work for an organization that pays for you to become a RN, you just have to work a year inpatient after school is over to pay them back for your tuition. There were only a few other classes I had to take prior to applying for the LPN to RN program, which were A&P 1 &2 and Microbiology. I already got the college English and Intro to Psych out of the way when I went to college out of high school. I wonder if you have work places in your area that will pay for your tuition for you, because they are good with working out your work schedule so that you are able to work and go to school. I wish you lots of luck!!!!
  2. See, that's where my trouble was when I had to do a care plan on a dialysis patient, because it was in an outpatient dialysis center and we didn't care for the patient, mostly talked to the nurses to find out what their roles are and what dialysis is all about and then we were to talk to one patient and find out what they know about their disease and then come up with a complete care plan using 2 nursing diagnosis. I didn't quite get how it was that I was going to be able to "evaluate" my nursing actions if I didn't actually "do" anything. Care plans are hard enough, I wish they didn't make us fake it.
  3. Hello everyone! I am stuck in regards to my care plan! This past week was my first week of OB rotation....I will give you a litle back ground info on my patient. She had a planned c-section (had 2 others in the past)....and also had a tubal ligation after c-section. Patient ended up getting 2 units PRBC the day after her section for a HCT of 19.5. After the transfusion her Hct was 24.4...and Hgb 8.4. The following day her Hct was 22.4 and Hgb 7.6...so her received another unit. The day I took care of the patient was 3 days post c-section and she was discharged only 5 hours after I started to take care of her. I can't quite put my brain around what nursing diagnosis to come up with in regards to the post c-section bleeding that lead to the transfusions....but of course can easily come of with Risk for infection d/t incision from the c-section, etc. Anyone help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
