  1. Address for El Camino College Compton Center is 1111 E. Artesia Blvd Compton, CA 90221 (310) 900-1600 http://www.compton.edu Right off the 91 fwy, Alameda Exit.
  2. WOW! Really?? I tell you go to their Compton Campus. They don't have a waiting list. Leave the Main Campus alone. I am going to ask about that one. That sounds weird. But go to the Compton Campus. If you got the required classes you won't have a problem getting in. But I will check and see if I can get more info. Good Luck:typing
  3. Yeah they might. When I was at the orientation there were alot of students checking out the program. They also have an LVN to RN too for those who are already LVNs. I forgot to mention that. Good Luck Ladies. I can't wait to get to school myself. God Bless
  4. I guess not many people know about Compton Comunity College now being El Camino College Compton Campus. Yes Compton College is now part of El Camino College. They have their own seperate Nursing Program seperate from the El Camino Main Campus who has the big waiting list. Compton HAS NO waiting list. You are talking about the El Camino Main Campus who has the waiting list. My God Mother is the Interim Dean of the Compton campus and the Assistant Director of El Camino Colleges Nursing Department so I know. I went to the Nursing Program Orientation and got all the infomration as well as talk to my god mother. If I hear of the next orientation I will post it on here so anyone can go hear for themselves. If you go to Torrance to the El Camino Main Campus on Crenshaw, you will be waiting a couple of years to get into the program. If you go to the Compton Campus You will not wait unless you have not met the pre reqs. Their pre reqs are the Same because they are under El Camino College. If you went to El Camino and did all their pre reqs and are waiting on that long list, Go to the Compton Campus and see the Nursing Counselor Essie Preston to get start there. Once again there are 2 different programs. 1 in torrance with a waiting list and 1 in Compton with NO waiting list. Have a good Day and Good Luck Ladies!!!! Shonda:wink2:
  5. No they accept students from other schools too. if you have good grades and have the pre-reqs completed then you can into the program. The main College has a waiting list with over 200 people on it. Their Compton campus does not have a waiting list. You got the grades and the requirements then you will get in. They try to be fair and allow their students in because they attended the school to get into the program but if you beat their scores they are not going to tell you no. You can get in the program.
  6. Hello everyone, I really can't see all that money to go to a private school when you can pay so much less. If you got the pre reqs look at El Camino College Compton Campus. They do not have a waiting list. If you have your pre reqs and you are a student at the college and you have good grades then you will have no problem getting in. They are the only Community College campus with no waiting list. They have regular ASN and LVN to RN. I am getting my pre reqs done starting this coming semester so that I can get into the program myself. Why pay $40,000 when you can pay maybe $5000 to $7000 to get through school with prepreqs and supplies. Don't spend all that money. If you are close to Compton check out the Compton campus of El Camino College. Check with the nursing department for the next orientation session. Good Luck everyone!!!
  7. The program right now is $18,000 but Jan 2009 the tuition is going to be $20,000. They offer night and weekend program. Haven't heard anything bad about them.
  8. Trinity Vocational Center in Carson, CA has a LVN program for evening weekend and days. Their website is http://www.trinityvocational.com The Staff are excellent. I love them. I am going to get in the LVN program there. I have to work too so I had to find something in the evening and weekend to work around my schedule. This is the school for those who want to work and school. The course is 18 1/2 months part time. I have asked students about the course and they love it. Give them a try. toll free 866.737.7262 or local 310.834.3065 Good Luck and Take Care!! Shonda :heartbeat
  9. I was in 7Eleven this morning getting my coffee and there was a student from Homestead getting coffee as well. I asked her was she going to nursing school at Homestead and she said yes. I asked her how was it and she said it was great and she liked it. So it is out there. Best to go to the California Board of Vocational Nursing website and get the full listing of schools. Homestead is on there. They have a website too I believe. Look it up. Good Luck everyone.:wink2:
  10. If you are willing to do a 20 week program that only cost $45.00 to enroll plus the cost of uniforms and your texbook then try Harbor Occupational Center in San Pedro, CA. I graduated from there and it is a great program with a wonderful nursing facility to do your clinicals at. I have been to other programs clinical and they sucked. you do your clinical at the Little Company of Mary Pavillion in San Pedro and we loved the staff and they care they have for their residents and it was fun to work with them
  11. Thats true. I spoke with my God Mother who is an RN and an Instructor for RN. If you do the 30 Unit Option you basically say that you are not going anywhere else with your license in the US. You are stuck in California.
  12. I saw a website with a 6 month LVN Program it is an excellerated program to take the NCLEX Exam for LVN. The company is http://www.ftnlc.com/index.html But you have to have Clinical training such as CNA, EMT, Paramedic more than 5 yrs of experience, pharmacology I think 50 or 60 hours, OB and Pediatric ward experience 5 Months I think. I have the paper at home. They basically offere classes that will help you passed the NCLEX exam by going over the information on the exam. I put the website above for you to call and ask them for further information. I left the paperwork they sent me at home. I am at work right now. I wish I could tell you more. I can't do it right now but I would love too. :) I hope this help.
  13. I say they are jealous because you are young and have your LPN license. They feel intimidated but they need to get over it. If you have the authority to write them up then please do so. Also talk to your DON and see what kind of direction she has. If she is letting this happen then I would contact the OMBUDSMEN and report that facility. If they have that many CNAs not doing their job their they need to be fired. You hould be able to tell them to get off their butts and stop ignoring the residents that is totally against the rule along with the gossiping or loud talking and laughing when they should be feeding the resident and talking to them. If it was me I would report it if I can't get any help from the other nurse. Just my input.
  14. Sounds good. So you are saying that their program works well with working parents. If that is the case I am going to work on my pre-reqs for that program. I have all the information about them. I am going to look into joining the program whenmy pre-reqs are done. Thanks
  15. Hi there, I know Compton Colleger does not have a waiting list. At least that is what my god mom told me and she is the assistant director and instructor. I was going to try and go there but their pass rate for NCLEX is not good. It is around 65%. I think LBCC and Harbor City is good. If you are looking for BSN try Mount St Marys in LA. It does not require all the classes to enter because some they include in the program. I thought about going there but I want to get alot of classes out of the way since it is expensive.
