I was wondering if anyone has tried travel Nursing in Raleigh NC and what was your experience? What agency can you recommend? My two year anniversary as a Nurse is Sept 25th. I have 20 months experience as a Med Surg Nurse and I left to try home care. I would appreciate any response. Thanks
  2. It's interesting how we excuse rude behavior!
  3. That is truly sad and embarrassing to the profession. She should be reported to EVERYBODY you can report her to. I would!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I have to add that one of my relatives attends Central and she would not have gone anywhere else. She is very happy with the education she is receiving and has not had any prejudices shown to her or heard any complaints. She works in the medical field and says that people desire to work with Central nurses because of their training. She herself notices a difference in Central nurses.
  5. The nurse called me later and said she found out two doses are needed. So I'll get another in thirty days.
  6. Question. The instructions for the needed immunizations says we need two doses of varicella vacine. Kaiser says adults only need one dose. Has anyone one encountered this? How many doses did you all get or are gonna get?
  7. Kaiser takes up to 15 business days. It helps if you call them a few times.
  8. Time is really flying. Orientation is the week after next.
  9. Don't feel bad. I have at least 10 years on you and I'm starting an RN program soon 8-):)
  10. @SA2009 Where did you take your CPR Training? I received my Packet on Fri 4/23 and orientation is scheduled for May 25th.
  11. I'm starting the Day program in the Fall of 2010. I received my packet on Friday 4/23. My orientation is May 25th. That's also the date I have to have my background check.
  12. Call them. I needed to know when I would get accepted so I could decide to take an early retirement. They at least eventually told me that all letters go out on a certain date each month and they told me when they would be mailed. I received my confirmation and acceptance letter shortly after the date they told me. You have to be persistant and tell them exactly why you need to know. You should be getting something soon. Or ask your apt management if they can give you a few days. I hope things go well for you.
  13. Phi Theta Kappa has a chapter at each campus, East, Metro and West. You just have to have the 12 credit hours completed at Tri-C. I'm starting in the Fall of this year and am really looking forward to it. Good Luck.
  14. Looks like you're ready to go. You can always fill up your schedule with psychology classes. Good Luck.
  15. Make sure you check with admissions and records before hand to make sure you just need to take Physiology to get credit for A & P I and II.
  16. Central has one of the best reputations for Practical Nursing in the area. They also have a high rate of students passing the NCLEX. At tri-c you have to actually work as an LPN for one year before you can apply for the Bridge to RN class. I wanted to do that but the person I spoke with recommended that I just go for RN from the start. I was able to retire from my job. Ive been accepted and will start August 2010. My daughter starts at Central in March of 2010. She has two small children. This is my second career and we are both very excited.
  17. Hi, I took A & P II on line. It was a fantastic course if you are able to study independently. We met 5 Saturdays for the semester to test and perform a lab. The week before the exam, we had an on line chat where the instructor told us what areas to really study. He also offered an extra credit report, which I didn't do. I received a B. I would highly recommend it. One of my classmates was taking Micro and A & P II and said she wouldn't do that again if she could go back and do it over again. She said Micro was a lot of info. Good Luck.
  18. Thanks so much. Nursing is definitely your calling:yeah:
  19. How soon can we get our background check?
  20. Thanks so much for the info regarding the actual nursing classes, clinicals, and labs. I'm scheduled to begin Fall 2010 and your info really helped me.
  21. Why not ask your questions in this forum? They might help someone else.
  22. I got the call also to start in the spring at Parma but I've already planned my life around starting in the Fall so I'll just wait. My daughter is starting LPN school in the spring and I promised to be her babysitter until I start in the Fall. Let me know how orientation goes etc.
  23. I had an interesting experience. I had taken the NET previously about 4 years ago and everything I needed was taken care of (all of the pre-req's) but they changed the Math from 1141 to 1200. I took 1200 over the summer, called the nursing dept, confirmed my request via e mail, and waited for the application. I received my letter in August telling me I was eligible to take the NET test. I called but was told that I have to wait until the letters go out again in September. I'm now patiently waiting and hoping I get the correct letter this month. I was scheduled to take the LPN course beginning this Fall and the same thing happened to me with receiving the wrong letter last fall. I'm really looking forward to the RN program and can't wait to get my letter. It looks like Spring is filled.
