  1. Oh my gosh, If you've already prepared that much, you are GOLDEN. =) If you reach question 75 and the screen goes blank I won't be suprised. Shoot me a message When you Pass!
  2. I've recieved my orders; OCT 14 OBLC, report to Landstuhl January 4th, 2010. My question now is what do I need to do prepare? I know I need to arrange for the shipment of my household goods but I'm not quite sure how to go about it. I have the phone number to my nearest transportation office. I called and they said i need to apply through the DPS system as www.move.mil. I've registered but am not sure what to do once I log in. I also was wondering if there is anyone out there who recently PCSed to Landstuhl who can give me tips/ do's and don'ts for preparing to move and getting settled. I know I am supposed to get a sponser eventually, but since I don't report until January I probably won't hear from anyone until I'm already at OBLC. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
  3. Ballroom RN, you already completed your Nclex as well? Any good feedback for me on what to focus on? Likely everything lol. The NCLEX is not as bad as it sounds. I took it back in July and I studied through Kaplan, but I think I would have been okay even without that. Balance your time between doing content and practice questions. Towards the end, I mostly did practice questions and made notes of anything I really had no clue about so I would remember it for next time. My NCLEX had a lot of prioritizing questions, med questions (which can be figured out easily with general knowledge of the drug class), and "select all that apply" questions. I had NO math and very few questions in specific fields like OB and Peds. There are certain things everyone seems to run into: -Infection control/ the different types of precautions - morphine, lisinopril, insulin, lithium, magnesium, SSRIs, Prednisone (or another steroid), NSAIDS. etc. Know basically how they affect the body, when you should or should not take them, and any outstanding side effects or contraindications. - growth and development applied in the context of patient teaching or communication - addisons vs. cushings - SIADH vs. Diabetes insipidus - Hypothyroid vs. hyperthyroid -Diabetes type I and II -Placenta Previa vs. Abruptio PLacenta You can get away with hanging out in a bookstore get a cup of coffee and do questions without spending 40 bucks on a review book. Borders and Barnes and Nobel are usually pretty friendly about it. DON'T Study the day before. You'll do GREAT!
  4. I don't think so, now that you mention it. I went through ROTC, so that's different. I know some people from other commisioning routes can do something called " Home-Town Recruiter," which I intend to do between OBLC and PCS
  5. Hi! I am going the same route and timeline =) I'll be there in Texas this October and Germany in January! I'd love to be in contact. Hope things are going well for you in the meantime
  6. I feel your pain on the Gold Bar recruiting issue. My region even had a few slots open up before the next fiscal year to take on LTs who were waiting in limbo until october...of course, nurse corps officers didn't qualify for that deal. Oh well.
