Philippines BSN taking NCLEX LVN
I attempted to apply for NCLEX RN and was given the same declination letter because of the new requirements in California for NCLEX RN exam. I went back to the Philippines so I can try to get the required documentations but was disappointed to learn that I had more chances of taking the NCLEX LVN/LPN with my current documentation. So I said, why not... I had my school submit the same documentation I sent for the CA BON exam to the CA BVNPT late JULY 2014. (A little background, I graduated 2008, failed the NCLEX RN exam 2x before the new requirements became very strict.) I received the approval letter to test from CA BVNPT on November 19, 2014. Sadly when I followed up on my documentation with the CA BON, they stated, "We have not processed your documents. There is nothing to say since it has not been processed." How can one facility process documents quickly and efficiently while the other has "yet" to process the same documentation. Its absurd. Anyways, I look forward to challenging the NCLEX LVN/LPN exam. I guess my question is, what would be the best study material for me at this time? Do you know of any refresher courses near MILPITAS, California? I was told that Excell nursing review in SUNNYVALE, CA is a good course but I have not met anyone who has taken the course. I'd appreciate any input. Thank you.

I need some advice please!
I believe your situation is normal. Being new to anything is frustrating. My advise to any new nurses, is before you apply for the position, ask if you can have one day to shadow before you accept the offer. Especially in the nursing field, there are so many possibilities. LVN/LPN can go to so many branches of the healthcare industry. I worked with alot of fantastic nurses who said, "when you get your license, ask me for a day of shadowing." They worked for hospice agencies, hospitals, private practices, home health, one-on-one's and clinics. If you begrudge the job you are hired for, assess yourself. Is it because you do not like the duties assigned, the clients, the management? If like some facilities you are a floater, then perhaps the reason you are anxious if because you keep having to adjust. That is the norm in facilities. In that case, toughing it out WILL be the solution until you get to a position where you are no longer a floater.
