Becareful of who you talk to in this profession. You can not trust the nursing profession when it comes to confidentialy. Before you know it, you are being reported to the IPN because you stated you have depression. nursing in itself causes all kinds of mental health issues for nurses. get out while you are still young!

Nursing is not nursing anymore.. its' all electronic patient care. We spend all of our time trying to figure out where to acurately chart in a computer rather than acurately taking care of the patients. We are being given more patients, more responsiblities, with less ancillary support from administrative. We are told we have to do this way so it makes things look good on paper to the powers that be. And people wonder why there is a shortage of nurses.

So because I don't want to be a nurse but I would want to do something else that has nothing to do with nursing whatsoever, I wouldn't be able to even become a massage therapist? The reason I am in the IPN(IDIOT PROJECT FOR NURSES) is because of diversion. If i chose to do something that has nothing to do with giving out any drug whatsoever, I don't see why it would prevent me from being able to do something totally non nursing. If i chose to not be a nurse, then I why should I stay in the program if I am do not want to be a nurse!!! IT IS CALLED THE INTERVENTION PROJECT FOR NURSES.. not masage therapists...massage therapy has absolutely nothing to do with medications or dealing with anything that nurses do in a hospital. Nurses do not massage, treat, or cure anything. Nurses are under the direct supervision of a physician. Massage therapist are not meant to cure, but they do treat symptoms.

I have ask the board but i dont' get a straight answer. Believe me!!! this is not a decision I have thought about lightly. I have been thinking about it from the first day I got involved with the IPN. What does dire consequences? Im already not working in nursing. So having the ability to practice doesn't seem all that important if I am not getting hired as a nurse.

What happens if you decided to voluntarily withdrawal from IPN?

I know I have the choice of doing it or not. the only reason I am doing the IPN is to hopefully get a job as nurse because right now it's the only way to survive. But believe you me.. the first NON nursing job I am offered..i am going to take it..I refuse to have the IPN have control of my life.

I am through apologizing. The only anger I HAD was against myself for going into the nursing profession. I am sorry for becoming a nurse, I am sorry for what the nursing profession has become. I am sorry for not making the choice to get out of this volatile profession sooner. You got caught AGAIN because you obviously are and always be an addict. I realize that the only reason for being invovled in IPN right now is because I need a job. I honestly do not want to be in the nursing profession. But because of the economy, and the financial stress of parcticpating in the IPN, i really do not have any other choice but to try to find a nursing job. I do not believe that NA,AA, or any other group meetings are beneficial to everyone with a drug problem. There are OTHER alternatives to self improvement that don't include self pity, regression, or reliving the past. And if the nursing profession is so caring and concerned about helping their own, they do not seem the least bit interested in giving IPN nurses a second chance. So for the amount of time required to stay in IPN could be used going back to school. Some nurses are unable to get jobs for the entire time they are in the IPN. so why even consider going back to the profession.

I don't blame anyone for wanting to get out of the nursing profession entirely. I hate it when nurses say you should try another area of nursing. But the truth of the matter is..it does not matter where you work as a nurse, because nursing is nursing no matter where you work!! I have been feeling the burn out for the past 5 years. The only reason most of us stay in this thankless, tiresome, uncaring, insensitive, and stressful profession is that we can't afford not stay in it. I would definitely get out of this profession in a heart beat if offered a job doing anything else. But with the economy the way it is..no one is hiring anyone for anything unless you have experience or have done it before. Now I am in the IPN program and being in this program makes it that much more apparent that I want to get out of this profession. For the amount of time I am required to participate in the IPN, the money I am supposed to pay for being in this program could be used towards going back to school for something I would actually enjoy calling a career. Nursing is definitely not what it used to be. Your time is not spent with the patient, but spent behind paperwork, computers, and sitting behind a desk. Hospitals take away staffing, don't allow overtime, and yet still expect more and do it with smile and don't make any mistakes or you can basically be replaced. Well..enough I say!!!!

What would be the chances of IPN finding out if i got a job? or what if a hospital hired me and i did not tell them i was invovled in IPN? How would anyone be able to find out that information?

I don't get IPN. I don't understand it's so called philosophy. They claim they need to monitor you but all I seem to understand is that all they are doing is sitting behind a desk dictating your life. They don't seem to comprehend the fact that the majority of nurses involved in this so called intervention program are not working as nurses or working at all for that matter so how are they supposed to pay for everything to stay involved in order to keep a license. I don't see why it should affect any other license because after all it is Intervention Project for NURSES. It is very hard to do what they want when they don't really care that you lost your job, can not get a job, can not pay your bills, everything else that your life was before IPN invaded your life. It is not right that every nurse is treated like some number and given the same contract. I know criminals that have done far worse and have gotten off with a slap on the wrist. If IPN is suppose to help nurses, they why do they seem so insensitive as to everything else besides what they want you to do. They act like they are doing you a favor. Well , they are not. IPN can ruin your life. Not help it.

If I am involved in the IPN for nurses, would that have any affect on any other professional license?

Well I am not that really a big believer in group therapy. Never have been. I guess it works for some people. But I feel why would I need to rely on a group of people for the rest of my life who all they talk about is there problem that got them there in the first place. I know what I did was wrong and it was an isolated incident related to post op surgery. I know if i want to keep my license in florida that i have to go through the hoops but I think,, no i know that IPN was not invented to help nurses recover, but to make their lives worse...I just hope that this year will not get any worse..

But what I am going through makes me want to get out of nursing altogether. the thing is I had already put an application for another state and it is being processed and my verification has already been sent by Florida.

ok.. so no one has any advice???

Hello Everyone, this is my first posting. So i need a little help about the IPN program in florida. I have not been working for a month now. I have been going through loop holes trying to do what the IPN wants me to do, but let me tell you, they really do not care what happens to you. They don't care that you are out of work, can not find work, especially in today's economy. They just tell you if you don't do what they say, we will report to the BON. Well I am to the point where I really do not care anymore. My question though is if i did not go through with the IPN and then i get reported to the BON, would anything happen to any other RN license I have in other states?
