  1. Just tried to find an online General Biology course with lab. They exist, but they are all full already. Anyone know of a course that is open and available? www.cccs.edu or www.cccs.org also occweb.sunyocc.edu
  2. I know, that bankruptcy is a scary word for 90% out there. But guess what? It will take you ten years to get out from under your debt, without bankruptcy, and save enough to have just the down payment, to use with additional credit, to buy a house. As far as employers checking credit before a job offer? Maybe rarely, but the mechanical fiscal mathematical truth is you are less fiscal risk after bankruptcy, than before. I went through it, and now get credit card offers all the time. I just refinanced my house after five years on bankruptcy. But truthfully, it is extremely hard to discharge student loan debt in bakruptcy, if not impossible. Just another option somewhere later WTSHTF. I think it is a shame, and a sham to put students into "debtor hell" for the rest of there lives with education. And this is such a great country? Ramble ramble.
  3. Transfer to a school that will fund you. If not you might try bankruptcy, with a good lawyer, and claiming you have no increase in income due to the school work you have taken. You can not complete your requirements, and the school will not provide a funding source for you. I would do this. You have no chance to pay this loan money back, so why have this money monkey on your back forever?
  4. the problem is that it is already too late to get into these courses for the fall. Classes start next week, and are already full across my state, and the nation most likely. Any online equivalent WILL NOT be accepted towards a nursing degree by any local instate institution. They will not be accepted because the state board regulators will not accept the credits either. I am looking at an online A&P course, as I have had one years ago. But there was no lab with that one years ago; so I am concerned that will effect prerequisites for A&P 2 later on, with lab.
  5. Given the current state of the economy it is likely these programs will close up again. Still if you are an employee (or prospective employee) you can take a chance. Not sure if other hospitals will pay for this.
  6. I was investigating Accreditation and found that for nursing the two accredited organizations are the NLN and the CCNE. So do these accrditation organizations accept the online courses in Chemistry (1 &2) and maybe Biology 1, towards the requirements of a nursing program education? Thus letting you sit for the boards, when you complete the program?
  7. As a comment to the existing thread-discussion: Would a professor in Organic Chemistry deny a student from taking that course, if they had taken and CLEPed out of a course in Chemistry 1&2 online? What about Microbiology if having taken online course and CLEPed out of Biology 1&2?
  8. You need to tell the school to find an alternative source of credit. It is not your job to prove the school will result in you having an RN license, and paying the loan back. It should be the schools job to secure the credit for potential students.
  9. I currently work for a VA Hospital (Veterans Administration - government hospital - best care anywhere!!). They have an interesting program to become an RN. They will pay FULL SALARY of a current employee, and they will pay for the program cost. All you need to do is commit to be a VA nurse. Most programs are fully funded for 24 months.
  10. Thank you Sand Dollar for the private message. I can not even reply to a private message until I get the 15 posts online here. Looking at 12 more posts.
  11. so fifteen frivolous posts coming up!! (NOT - I only give good comments to contribute to the conversation - as is appropriate).
  12. Okay is there anyway for someone to private message members in the discuss to talk more about this issue? I wish to find these courses and be able to take them as a pre-requisite, to other courses. Figure if I can take it online, and then take a CLEP for it, how can a professor or system deny my thorough knowledge of the course work?
