here in england the anesthetist (Anesthesiologists, as we dont have CRNAs) is tasked in the ER, CODES elsewhere in the hospital and all intuabations with: intubating the patient anesthetise the patient lead the resuscitation effort as the clinical lead and expert in that situation stabilise the patient because here in england, no one but the anesthetists intubate patients in 99% of cases, not the nurses or ER Docs and other such roles, it is the soley provided by the anaesthetist. i am just wondering is it the same situation with CRNA's and AMD's in the USA are they the staff who deal with all CODES, Intubations, anesthestics and trauma patient stabilisation?

within the scope of a CRNA they Intubate, Manage Airways, initiate resuscitation, manage and implement ventilation and respitory management etc but do hospitals having respitory therapist prevent CRNA's from performing these tasks? do hospitals prefer CRNA's or RT's to perform such tasks?

see we have a different situation in the UK, anesthetists (only MD's in the UK) attend the ER for all patients in Resus as they are the only doctors to intubate, they attend all in hospital cardiac arrests and anesthetists the the only doctors in ICU

I would be grateful if CRNA's could answer the following questions about their job role, What is the CRNA's role in ICU? What is the CRNA's role in the ER/ED? Do CRNA's attend all inhospital Cardiac/respiritory arrests? many thanks
