Private loans?
Thanks for all of your input! I'll definitely talk to my financial aid office. I doubt they'll extend it since it's for a car payment and consumer debt, but I'll eat Ramen everyday for 3 years if that's what it takes. I'll be splitting expenses with my boyfriend so I should be able to figure it out, I was just seeing if I could get a slight cushion to soften the financial stress a bit. It's definitely worth it to me to sacrifice a bit now for the reward of having my dream job in the future! I can't wait to start!!

Private loans?
Hi guys, I haven't posted many things on here but I can't seem to find the answer to my question.. Or maybe I have but I haven't accepted it... I'm just wondering if it is possible to take out a private student loan to cover extra expenses after receiving federal loans which stipulate a cap at the cost of attendance. I just got into a CRNA program in Illinois and I need help paying for school. I know some people are able to get by on their student loans with families which is amazing! The school states that they pay about 1700 after tuition is taken out, I have a car payment of around 300 and CC payments of about 300/ month as well. I know the "best" idea is to pay off my car and CC but I think I got into school by the skin of my teeth (I'm being realistic, not self-deprecating) and I don't think putting it off until later is the best idea for my situation. Long story short, would any bank give me a few thousand extra/ year on top of what I will receive from federal or am I limited to the COA?

Yea, I got that email (which freaked me out too, having an email from RFUMS pop up in my inbox). But I also got a similar generic "thank you" email when my application was submitted and finalized that said to wait 4-6 weeks for an update. I received an email 2 hours later inviting me to interview. I think the standard ones they send are mostly meant to give them time if need be, but they said they would have the decision by this week which I really hope is true... I don't like waiting and wondering. OP, what was your turn-around time from interview to decision? Was it more than a week?

Yea, I don't know anyone in my group either. And I'm not sure if I was the last group. When they had you schedule your interview, were there multiple dates to choose from or just one? Mine only had one date available but I didn't know if that was because it was the only one left or that they will post more in the future depending on how many people they admit from each group. So much anticipation! lol

I can't PM yet either, and I have no idea how it went lol. Hopefully it went well, but I'll find out for sure next week. How many people were in your interview group and how many do you know of that have gotten in so far? Just playing the numbers game in my head to try to make some predictions. There were 10 people in my group.

Hey guys! I'll be applying to this school as well! Actually, my part has been done for weeks, just waiting on my references... I love them, but they're dragging their feet which is making me go crazy! Anyway.. I know you can't speak specifics of the interview but could you say if it is more clinically based or personality based? I know all of them are slightly different. If not, no big deal, just curious . Looking forward to hearing the verdict for everyone! I hope we all get to meet in IL!

Safe Apartments
Thanks for your reply. As for option A, the hospital does have a shuttle service from a metro station but I would want to make sure it was reliable before I depended on it for transportation. For option B, I believe the internship program puts us on a rotating shift (7a-7p or 7p-7a). So I would be dealing with different issues depending on which schedule I was working that day. I have a lot of things to consider I guess. It doesn't start until Feb. so I still have some time.

Safe Apartments
Hey everyone! I am a new grad (May 09) and I just got hired in a DC hospital . I currently live in the Baltimore area because of school. After spending an hour and 45 mins driving to the interview in terrible morning traffic, I've decided I need to move down closer to DC. I would like to stay in MD so I don't have to change my car registration and driver's license but I want to get as close as I can so I can shorten my commute to about 20-30 mins. If anyone has any ideas about any 1 bedroom apartments that you would recommend that are inexpensive but still safe I would appreciate it. I would like to stay under 1K a month if at all possible. Thank you all in advance!
