I used to work in LTC , full-time nights. For the most part of my shift I would help the aide change incontinent pads of the residents. At the end of my shift, I'd go home, fall asleep exhausted, then dream that I'm still changing incontinent pads. This was when I realized I had to get out.

This brings to mind an aide who told me ¨That`s why you`re paid more¨

This has been the longest month of my life ever! Trying to suppress these feelings of anxiety and the "what if" thoughts followed by feelings of dread. A week or 2 more to go and we'll finally know.... Happy thoughts everyone! Better said than done.

This just brings back old memories. A similar thing happened to me. It's sad when you cant' fight back, because it seems to be a losing battle when you have nothing to show as proof except for what you charted, and you're afraid of losing your job. It's your word against his, and he's your supervisor. I wonder why this is so common in LTC facilities? I'm so sorry to hear what you went through.

Oh, Positive is all I can hold on to. Otherwise, I would surely break apart! Kept away all my books and notebook to make it harder for me to check if I correctly answered a question I remembered. Did this after a sleepless night of constantly going through my book for the answers. Continuing to answer questions after the exam didn't help at all. Just added doubt to my already shaken confidence. 6 weeks! Good God, I don't know how I'll make it waiting so long. Can't seem to do anything without thinking, that is, without thinking of a question that suddenly pops in my head.

What an interesting day it was! How did other test takers find this exam?

Congratulations to you! I got the same number of questions as you did. Guess there were different sets of questions as others had a total of 252, 254, or 256.

I agree with mam2kids. Don't give up on your dreams. A day of examination alone cannot gauge your abilities. No one becomes an A student learning nothing. No one. Sure, failing this exam can be devastating, but don't let this bring you down completely. It is not winning the race that is most important. What matters most is how you still manage to rise from a fall, dust your clothes and continue running to the finish line.

Wow! It's finally over. I am so glad for you. Hope the good news comes soon. How long does it usually take for the college to release the result? If you are deemed eligible, will you be able to register for the Feb 2012 CRNE? Overall, how did you find the assessment?

Hello Berryasian, Thank you for the information. I sent you an email. I've decided not to take any shifts so I could concentrate on studying. I am just starting to study now, and I only have a month to prepare, so I really need to be productive with the limited time that I have on my hands. I really hope and pray that everything will go smoothly during your assessment. Wish you all the best!

Good luck Berryasian12! I'm scheduled to take the SEC a month from now. If I may ask, how long did you prepare for SEC? I know they say here that there is no need to study for SEC because it is only basic nursing skills that are tested. On the contrary, we have a 7-hour multiple choice and short answer question exam similar to the CRNE, so we do have to study hard for it. What did you find useful for your review?

Hello everyone, I have been reading the CRNE prep guide and I came across a question which contradicts what I have read in a med surg book. Since all of you have studied hard, and have most probably encountered this question during the review yourselves, could you please tell me if something is wrong with the rationale or if the med surg book I read (american) is the one which is wrong. Here goes: The patient has consolidated pneumonia on the left lobe and the question was how to best position the patient. I answered left side and fowler's but the answer was RIGHT side fowler's, with the rationale that pulmonary ventilation and perfusion will be best with the unaffected side DOWN. I thought the patient should be lying on the affected side to give the normal lung better chance of expansion? Please, anyone. I have become confused. I don't know now if I should answer differently in a Canadian exam. Your inputs would be highly appreciated.
