@Tokidokijake Thanks for the info. Are you local? I interviewed twice on the same day, but maybe because I drove up from San Diego? Either way, good luck to you as well :)

UCLA New Grad Summer 2012 program
Absolutely. I don't plan to stay in the area where I am in nursing school so I'm in a situation where I just want to know where I'm going haha :) Good luck!

UCLA New Grad Summer 2012 program
@loma510 My interview with the unit director was good, but I was surprised about the 2nd interview on the unit - that's the part that was the most nerve-racking to me! I think I answered their questions fine, I just wish I knew I would have to talk to three more people ahead of time! How was yours?

UCLA New Grad Summer 2012 program
Did you tour the unit after your interview with the peds director? I toured the unit and then talked to the assistant managers and an educator on the same day, but I'm wondering if it's because I'm from out of town?

Johns Hopkins BSN/MSN Fall 2010 Anyone?
Congrats to everyone that has already received their calls :) For those of us who still wait in limbo, would you each tell us what your stats are as far as previous degree GPA, pre-req GPA, overall GPA, GRE scores, experience, whatever you are willing to share?! Thanks in advance and congrats again!!

Moving to San Diego!
I lived in SD a few years ago and absolutely loved the Sharp hospitals.

Johns Hopkins BSN/MSN Fall 2010 Anyone?
I noted in one of the online chats that they accept 130-140 out of ~500 applications for ED.

Reasons to get the flu shot-funny
LOL well still not a convincing argument, but amusing just the same.

Reasons to get the flu shot-funny
I find it interesting that there are contradicting statements made in #s 1 & 10: "1. The vaccine gives me the flu. Dumb ass. It is a killed vaccine. It cannot give you the influenza. It is impossible to get flu from the influenza vaccine." " I received the vaccine and I got the flu anyway. Inexact dumb ass. The vaccine is not perfect and you may have indeed had the flu."

What programs am I actually competitive for?
Hi bluechick! Yes I'm considering ABSN or direct-entry master's programs, not really quite sure which path to take just yet, but I know that deadlines are coming quickly so I feel like I need to get my butt in gear to find out all I can and getting insight from everyone on this list. Are you a student or post-school? With all the comments from people having difficulty finding jobs as new grads, I'm not opposed to going to a traditional 21 or 24 month program either. What's your experience with this? Thanks for your input! :)

Is my GRE score bad?
Interesting, I hadn't looked into LB... thank you!!

What programs am I actually competitive for?
Please forgive my newbie-ness, but I'm really unsure of where I should apply to with a realistic chance of getting in. I would appreciate any and all feedback! Stats: I have a bachelor's in business, which I barely squeaked by and finished with a 2.57 overall. I have a 4.0 in anatomy, physio, micro and human development, and I'm about to take statistics and nutrition. Combined GRE score is 1180, still waiting for essay score. Not much clinical experience at all but I'm applying to a Clinical Care Extender program. Can anyone tell me what schools/programs I would actually be competitive for applying to? HELP, deadlines are approaching quickly! Thanks in advance!

Those stupid GRE scores to count....
I recently took the GRE and studied using the Dummies book, the Kaplan book and the powerprep software from ETS. My first practice test score was like 900 or so combined but after working through all three, my actual test score was 1180 combined. It takes a LOT of practice and patience but it's well worth the time!

Is my GRE score bad?
I am curious about this as well... I just took the GRE and got 600 verbal and 580 quantitative... still working on pre-reqs but I have a 4.0 in Anatomy, Physio and Micro so far. Any feedback/suggestions? I haven't decided between ASBN or Direct-Entry MSNs either, the programs are all so different, but I do know that I'd like to be a FNP eventually. Any input would be appreciated!
