  1. Hi jjronaldRN, how did u do on the test? Did you hear back from HR already?
  2. Oh wow! Thanks for the information. Will apply
  3. Best wishes at KH. Hopefully u fit in fast.
  4. Yes, I'm still with agency, but I'm not actively working for them as we speak. I'm an RN now and they don't have a lot of RN placements.
  5. I've now moved on from KH. The traing was 3 weeks (one week in class and two with trained nurses). KH was a good learning exp. it is tough there and their expectations are super high, however, once u master it, it will make u a better nurse. I cried several times during the beginning and felt like quitting but didn't. U will have to develop strategies that work for u to manage a shift ( those strategies only come thru exp though :-). They say if u can survive KH, u can work anywhere. Most of the staff are ok to work with too.
  6. Thanks for the information. I have applied through the Lifespan network. They have several hospitals listed. I was not familiar with the different areas so I applied to most of them (lol). I am now awaiting response(s).
  7. Hi Rhode Islanders, I am a new grad RN with BSN. I have 3 years long-term care experience as an LPN. I have a hard time securing a hospital job in NYC and is thinking about relocating to RI. How is the new grad job market there? Which hospitals do u suggest I apply to, if any?
  8. Thank u Simone, I was just searching for other jobs outside of nursing because I am beyond frustrated. Virginia is not to far away, so thanks for those options. I am about to check them now. Congrats on your offer!!! Did you accept? Do you have to have your license endorsed before you apply?
  9. I will do my research on Utah as well. Thank you
  10. Da_Milk_of_Amnesia, what is it like in North Dakota? I was reading some new grad testimonials and they seem to be ok (except for the cheap salary in comparison to NYC)
  11. The Navy ??? Never crossed my mind, but right now I'm open to anything, so I guess I'll do some research
  12. Thank you for the encouragement and advice. I will definitely try those options. :)
  13. Hi everyone, I graduated with my BSN in August 2014. Prior to that I was an associates degree RN and could not get a job since everyone wanted BSN, so I went back to school. During school I continued to work as an LPN at a nursing home. So far I have 3yrs LPN experience, but no RN experience. I have sent countless applications to hospitals in all five boroughs and so far have not received one interview. I applied to the NYP new grad program but did not succeed beyond the Nov 24th meet and greet. Most of the jobs I see require acute care experience; no one wants to hire new grads. I get daily headaches from the frustrations. I love NYC, but worse case scenario I am willing to relocate. However, I have been looking at the requirements for hire in other states and all of them seem to be asking for previous hospital experience as well. Does anyone know of anywhere that I could try? Desperate RN
  14. I went thru an agency (Advanced Care Staffing) and was placed at Kings Harbor in Bronx.
  15. I agree with you and i really understand because the nursing manager explained it. I was just disappointed because it was my first and only interview and then i was hit with the "new grad/no experience" story. i just feel like it's a no win battle that i'm fighting. i'll try to remain positive and thanks for replying.
  16. I did LPN @ Monroe College (Bronx campus)...i'm going back for RN...If i get a full-time job i may do Excelsior's online program. I was so happy when i got my license, but now the reality of NO JOBS is daunting on me...
  17. I am in the city...I am not trying to relocate just yet bcuz im scheduled to begin my RN here in the city in September... Out of curiosity though, where upstate? p.s. thx for replying
  18. I graduated from nursing school in December 2010 and passed my NCLEX in January 2011. Since then, I've been desperately searching for employment as an LPN. Most places require at least one year experience, and I have none besides my clinicals. I have sent out a million and one resumes and have only received one interview with a nursing home. The interview went well, except that the only opening they had was for nights and they do not "use" new grads on night shifts. I left with the words, "As soon as we have an opening for the day shift we'll give you a call."...I was so disappointed. The worst part is that I am very confident that I can do the job despite being a new grad. My programme was a very good program and I really grasped the concept. I graduated with a 3.8 GPA, and is scheduled to begin my RN this September. I hate this long frustrating search though, because everywhere I turn it's like I am been slapped in the face with my lack of experience. Does anyone know of anywhere in the NYC area that is hiring new grads? Any suggestions/ideas will be greatly appreciated. I am soooooooo stressed!!! New Grad!!!
  19. @lipeach21 Monroe is in Bronx, NY (Jerome Ave & Fordham Rd). They don't offer BSN yet. They do a 1+1 programme, that is, after 1st year u are eligible to sit NCLEX for ur LPN license, and after 2nd year - if u choose to continue - u sit for the RN license. It's an Associates programme but they collab with BSN programmes if u r interested
  20. I've realised that the CUNY schools are geared to have students enrolled for 4yrs to complete a 2yr course; sometimes even longer bcuz of their ridiculous waiting lists. I applied to Monroe, passed my entrance exam and got accepted. I started a few days ago..its more expensive, but at least I start my nursing courses right away. I'm so excited.
  21. congrats
  22. thank you very much:saint:...i'm going there on monday to get some admissions advice...i really want to get started
