Looking for Amarillo College Students
Wow! I have goose bumps nsCindy! That was a sad but inspiring first day! I am looking forward to clinicals even more now. I love your attitude towards nursing, I hear so many nurses say "why did I choose nursing, if I could go back and do it all over I would have done something else in my life"! At first it scared me for a while hearing that, but after hearing it so much over and over I kept telling myself " when I become a nurse I am going to love being a nurse because not everyone can be a nurse and I will never regret my decision of being a nurse because helping others in need is what I love to do!" I wish I could just wake up in the morning and I was a nurse.

Looking for Amarillo College Students
Bootcamp was grrrreat, I really enjoyed meeting the teachers, although I am already swamped in homework LOL, but I am actually looking forward to it. I can't wait till skills on Tuesday, I can't wait to start a study group and develop new friendships. I was really motivated at the end when Jan(level 1 teacher) showed us the video of her and some other people ( nurses and doctors) went to Africa to help out with medical treatment at a village, it was amazing, something I am really considering now. I am so excited, I can't wait to become a nurse, I know it is going to get hard, really hard, but it will be worth it, because I know someday I can and will make difference in someone elses life, I can't wait to help all those in need of a nurses touch. Oh my(i am tearing up) I want this sooooo much!

Working in the hospital before you get into clinicals?
Wow, that sounds fun and exciting. One good thing about my job is I only have to work 3 shifts(12hrs each) week and it is self scheduling. So I can work it around my school. So when are you or have you already started the nursing program?

I have to bring that package that the school makes with the syllabus and rules etc. I know we are going through it and have to sign the papers that are in it. I hope we get a tour of the place, I am not too familiar with that campus yet. I am already assuming we will be assigned homework that day, so when classes start the following week we go will be prepared to start class. I have already opened my books and have read a few chapters ( I am a dork-LOL). I am excited yet nervous at the same time. The part that makes me nervous is that will I not have a life for the next 5 semesters.

Working in the hospital before you get into clinicals?
I am a Health Unit Cordinator (HUC) on the Cardiology,Med-Surg floor at a hospital. I get to see how everything works and since they know that I am going to nursing school, I get to follow some of the nurses sometimes. I have even been down to the cath/ep labs for some interesting procedures. I think it will help me in the long run for school because it will help put things into perspective. When I am done with my first semester of school, I can swith one shift a week as a CNA. I am so excited!

I am going to bootcamp on Monday 8-17-09 for the nursing program. I am a little frightened as to why they are calling it a bootcamp. I am nervous, but still excited about the nursing program. I finished all my pre. reqs. last semester with A&P 1 and Microbilogy. It was a big load but I think it will prepare me for what is yet to come. I am have already bought my books, and have read a few of the required reading assignments from the module 1 (lol-I am a dork, but I just want to be prepared). I am going to be telling a bunch of my classmates anout this site to. It is nice to talk to local nursing stundents.

I am a little nervous about my orientation in a couple weeks. They are calling it the RN Bootcamp and it is an all day event. I am a little nervous about the word "Bootcamp".
