i have been reading this thread and wow, i have p---ed some people off here before but this is new, i am a cst and currently enrolled in a cfa course and by golly nurse or not, everyone goes throught the same fa training to get certified, it is hard and requires a lot of you, first assisting holds a big responsibility!!! i am the only person who will be a cfa within 60 miles of my hospital, why? i don't know but only did it because i had surgeons who wanted someone who knew what they were doing and they could call on when they needed someone with the experience, i have plenty of jobs waiting for me when im done, so yes us surgical techs with the experience are very important at least at my facility, and are as valuable as the rn's, thanks, hope nobody's mad about my opinion, people are too sensitive here!

  3. OR TECHS- a cut above the rest, yeah , i have a shirt that says that!!!
  4. :) amen sista!!!
  5. :rotfl: well i have to say, us techs feel the same way about the nurses, we don't have to work along side of you guys either , hello, that's why or's are getting rid of nurses and just using " certified" personnel!

no doubt, i have had the same problems, make sure that if you are wearing reversible scrub pants, the softer seam is on the inside, this will help dramatically!!
  7. WHAT MKES ME SO SPECIAL IS IN FACT THERE'S NOT A DAY THAT GOES BY THAT IM NOT BEING BEGGED BY A SURGEON TO HELP, OR A DAY THAT GOES BY THAT IM NOT BEING QUESTIONED TO DEATH ABOUT SOMETHING FROM THE NURSES! AND NO I DOUBT U COULD WORK CIRCLES AROUND ME, I AM A WONDERFUL TECH AND PROUD OF IT!!! PLUS IF YOU DID WORK A CIRCLE AROUND ME, ITS ONLY BECAUSE YOU'VE ALREADY BEEN AROUND THE BLOCK A TIME OR TWO, BUT NOT BECAUSE YOU'RE BETTER, AND PLUS I WAS TRYING TO BE NICE AND SAY THAT NURSES WHO SCRUB DESERVE A PAT ON THE BACK COMPARED TO THOSE WHO DON'T WANT TO, BUT YOU GUYS WERE THE ONES WHO BLEW IT OUT OF PROPORTION, SO SUIT YOURSELF!!!!!
  8. Hey Id Like To Know Who Does The Prep In The Or, Sterile Or Unsterile Personnel, This Has Become An Issue At My Hosp And Was Brought Up At The Latest Ast Meeting. Thanks For Any Input. Jen
  9. And P.s, Hooray For Those Rns Out There Who Do The Insts, Assist And Circulate, You Guys Are Great, They Sure Don't Make Them Like You Anymore!!!
