I'm kind of in the same boat..I graduated July 2007, had my son a week later and just now passed my NCLEX last November. No luck with the job search..not even one call or interview. I'm not sure what to do..I can't get a job without experience and I can't get experience without a job. I'm not picky and will pretty much take any unit, shift, etc I can get. I'm trying a career fair this week to see if that helps..at least I can physically hand my resume to someone instead of submitting it online and hoping it gets noticed!

I took the Kaplan course...my stratgey was review the content in their study book and do as many questions as possible! I think i end up with only like 100 questions I hadn't answered in the test bank. Know your opposites like Hyper and Hypo...if you know one then you can rule out the symptoms. Follow the rules they taught you in class and remember to BREATHE! As my instructor said it's minimum competency..you know this stuff! Believe me I just passed the NCLEX on my 2nd try in November 2009 and it had been 2 years since I graduated from nursing school. You can do it and GOOD LUCK!!

I know you can't afford Kaplan but see if you can get a hold of their decision tree. I just started the course and will be sitting for my NCLEX for the second time in November. I have never felt confident about the NCLEX but after my class last night I had a whole new perpective on how to look at the questions using the decision tree! For once things made sense and I was able to eliminate the wrong answers! Best advice I got last night was do as many questions as possible...we'll see if it works! Good Luck!
