  1. I am hoping someone out there can help me clarify some things because I am confused about which prereques to take next semester. I have a BS in Public Health and I already took Anatomy and Phys but I took them in summer of 03 and graduated from the program in 2004...so one of my questions is that, when colleges look at the 7 year maximun mark for the sciences do they look at they year i graduated from or the year the course was taken? because if they look at the year then i dont need to take them again, i have until the end of this year but if they look at the specific semster and year that course was take then i would need to retake them...so which one is it? and also, i am applying for both accelerated BSN and Associates program and i need to take two more coursers to apply for the ABSN program (pathopsyiology and pharmacolgy) and i was hoping to take them next semester but if i need to retake Anat and Phys i am afraid that will be too much of a load for one semster, so i was thinking of taking maybe pathophysio , anatomy and phys and taking pharmacoloy in the summer before begining nursing school in the fall but i am still apprehensive about pulling anat phys and pathphysio all in one semster. anyone took those courses together...and survived? please if anyone else have any idea/clarification for me, im all ears. tks in advance
  2. I'm watching this because I am in the same situation as you. i have a 5.5 month old girl and plan on going back to school for nursing...i will be doing that this upcoming semester because i have 2 classes i need to complete before applying to nursing. i am debating between the ADN and the accelerated BSN and i was hoping i'd start nursing school in the fall 2010 which will make my daughter a year and half almost also. so will have to see i guess
  3. its the same for the schools im applying for, chem is a prereq for micro. i did take chem for my other degree but i got a D in it (ouch) and so i figure i should retake it...it would be nice if i didnt have to though but i dont think they'd accept D and let me take micro straight away. ah well, i think u right though taking it one at a time i will be able to dedicate more time to study on each. the only thing is i wanted to apply for nursing school for the fall 2010 and wanted to take both prereqs and get it over with now i prolly have to apply with micro pending and i fear that may hurt my chances because my science gpa could use a little boosting...i have a C in A&P1 and a b + in A&P2 im also reconsidering taking A&P1 for better grade but im not sure if that matters because the schools im looking at says they look at such things (meaning repeated grades) so confusing this nursing stuff i tell ya, lol thanks for ur advice if u have any more, im all ears :)
  4. Hi all, So i have decided that i am going to go back to school to be a nurse and i will be taking the first step this upcoming Fall semeter. I do have another degree, so i have a lot of the prereqs required for the program i will be applying for but i do need to take Microbiology and Chemistry and i was wondering if i should take them together or seperate. i am a little concerned because a. its been almost 5 years since i took my last class and b. i have an infant at home that i care for so i am not sure how its going to work out. any idea will be appreciated...:)
  5. Hi. I know this question has been asked a million times before, but I wanted to ask it and see if anyone out there can advice me on my situation specifically. Currently I already have a degree, which is in Public Health and my goal is to become Public Health Nurse so I need the nursing part now. I could do an accelerated program or an associates. For me, they would both take 2 years. the accelerated is one year but has more prerequisits that i havent completed and would take me about 2 semesters to complete, but i already fulfill the prereqisits for the associates degree so i wouldnt have to waste time in completing those..and yes my degree is 4 yrs so my credits would still count. obviously the cost is another thing i am considering, it would be much cheaper to get my associates at a community college. the school i am considering for the ABSN costs 50,000 and obviously i would be in a lot of debt coming out of it so i want to make sure is it worth it? i notice and have been told that most employers prefer a BSN but given that i already have a degree in BS, would that count for anything? i want to be sure i am taking the right path in this because i want to be done with school after this. i have a 6 month old child and would like to have more children in the future so i want to provide for them, work hard and do their homework with them and not have to go back to school yet again. so, given all this, what would make sense for me to do? i appreciate all ur advices so thanks in advance..
  6. Hi everyone, I am so confused on which path to take to become a nurse, so i figured you all can help sort out my head :) so here is my situation. I already have a BS in Public Health, and am looking to become a Nurse now. There are two options for me to do that. one of which is to do an associates degree at a local community college that would allow me to become an RN and the other is to go for the accelerated BSN program, which will also allow me to be an RN. the amount of time for each would be 2 years for me. the associates is two years and i have most of the prerequests done from my previous degree( its been 4 yrs since i graudate so i need to go back to schoo like real soon!) and the BSN program is 1 year but since they usually require more prereqs i have a couple to complete and it would take me about a year to do those, so basically the amount of time it would take me to finish both is somewhat the same. it would definately cost less to do the associates though but i am wondering, is the extra money spent to get BSN worth it give the situation? the nurses i know of that started out doing their associates end up going to get their BSN and i would like to be done with school after this so whats the best route for me to take? thanks for your advices in advance! :)
