Quick question. I just received a letter today to set up a date for an interview! Which I am totally psyched about! I know it is a small step, but anyway my question is; does everyone who fits the criteria for a seat in the upcoming class, does he/she automatically get an interview? Or does the committee start weeding out candidates before the interview process? Thanks, John

Well i figured i'd write in and since others have gone through the same thing in different circumstances. I have been a RN (male) for 3 years in an ICU setting. Unfortunetly left first job where the nurses were more welcoming of male nurses, ( made the third on the unit). But there were a few nurses there who did not like males. Now my second job i left in December beacuse of a ineffective nurse manager, and later found out from a male nurse there alot of nurses werent fond of me. The kindness thing doesnt always work, alot of women are just very bitter in life in general never mind, if its a male thing with them. Hopefully things will work out for you but no matter where one goes some people will/wont accept you. That goes for males as well, but its easier to befriend males from my experience. Hopefully I get accepted into CRNA school in the next 2 years. I know I could not personally deal with situations for 20 more years. well i resigned today too much bullshit at work and dont feel comfortable working there anymore yes working 2-3 12 hour nights is exhausting, there is a pyxis i did work in an ICU and no drug tests were asked of me, i even offered one. breaking confed. again about my personal life was the last straw, and i no longer choose to work for a manager like that. had a meeting with the president of Hr and told him everything that goes on in that unit, which is way to much too list. so hopefully something gets done and my ex. manager is investigated and fired. there isnt any room for ineffective managers esp. on a ICU! i will be contacting a lawyer tom. and take it from there. thank you for the responses happy holidays

thanks for the advice all! no one asked for any specimen, my manager said my name was cleared and it was looked into, but when i asked her about the matter she denied anything three times which i found odd since i am "clear", i think i could sue the nurse civil wise but how much would that cost legally and i know she has nothing. i am at wits end in this career i wanted to do anesthsia so bad but now i want out totally. i did offer to give blood samples or urine spec. and they said no need, so i dont really know anymore. i just dont feel comfortable at all goign to work since this whole think leaked out to the whole unit, i am sure it is and was supposed to stay private between that nurse and my manager, its my managers fault for having a big mouth. thanks again, any other advice i would apprciate it. ill try to make a long story short, i have been falsely accused of diverting narocatics. the issue got around my unit in two days nothing was kept private or confidincal. The issue was brought to my nurse manager a day or to after the incident. My nurse manager has a big mough and does not know how keep anything to herself and esp. confiditial ones. I confronted he and she lied 3 x sayng there is nothing until i made names present. i do not take drugs never have, and would jeaprodise my career or homelife for something so stupid. i just got married in September, got activated for 45 days in Germany and this was my third night back. the evenning in question i was sick slight low grade fever vomited my dinner, diaphortic, and keep needing to go to the bathroom.. all the while i have mod. colitis which the whole unit knows now, and can maybe now they can understand why i may need to use the restroom often. i was very angry at the nurse who reported me. to be honest as i read about it realized it is our duty as nurse, but i had even asked her to stay for me at 11pm due to not feeling well, she new i had vomited and i offered an extra $40 out of pockit, she declined and reported me the next day. she said i came out of the bathroom after a few minutes more sweaty, and looking worse. which i did after vomiting my dinner. so now my nursemanger finally stopped lying and said its been investigated, but i dont feel its over, she stated i am clear but i already felt like i worked on egg shells pervious to this and i know once a seed is planted in the staffings head it doesnt just go away with the boss saying its been looked into and its over. I am a my end here in nursing. i really wanted more than anything to become a Crna, but have to wait two yeaars which at this point i do not think i can. i have had it up to here with this type of unprofessionalism which doe not get corrected after being brought up. any questions, answers/? This unit in question is hard to work in nevermind if something like this gets brought up, i have last 10 months so far but need to be there at least one year for resume' purposes, i am per diem which is a big help. just do not know if i can take the bullshit that goes on any more it might give up nursing all together. thank you john

well i started in ICU right out of school as well. while it it hard dotn try to grasp everything right away. it takes time, and you will learn as you go along. i felt the same way and even somedays now i feel like, what am i doing here. hang in there when you go home, open a book. read up on things which you are unsure of from the night before.

do all states employ triage nurses? where do you go to see if positions are available? any info would be helpful
