  1. Hi, Thank you for replying back to me. Yes, I'm thinking about it. The evening program Those aren't bad hours! I'm going to attend an info session. I know I just need Chemistry. Did you apply? Ive been taking all my pre-rec's at Mount Wachusetts college, I was in the LPN program, But missed my final (1st cycle by 2 pts) (I'm so mad) so now I have to wait till Jan to get back in- so I'm just thinking to just do the RN program instead? any advice? Thank you again

  3. Hi! It's really tough! not that the material is tough, just soooo much to studying!!!!!! you have to basically study so many chapters! Yes, we have a large class, there are I believe 39 of us. I do love it! I'm also in a saturday class all day at Devens A&P II I'm doing wonderful in that class! The teacher is wonderful! when you have to take it, take it with Dr.B. Hope your doing well also! stay in touch!
  4. Thank you for your input, I'll check into these towns!
  5. Thank you so much, It does look so beautiful down there, and I wish you the best of luck with your career! Good for you for getting a job before the exam. Best wishes! and thank you again for your quick respond!!
  6. Hello, I'm thinking of moving to SC in the next year or two from Boston. Can anyone please give me any advise as to where I should move, and work. I would love to live inland from the coast, not a poor community, or a very expensive community, some where in the middle. I will hopefully be an RN by then. I have read some posts about the jobs, and it's a little scary, also the base pay too. I have read that for new grad's it about $22. that's a little scary compared to Boston, but I have also seen that the houses are more affordable! Any advice would be great! HDfatboy-chick
  7. Hi, Good luck! I'm starting an LPN program tomorrow morning, at Mount Wachusett Community College. I am sooooo excited, and worked so hard for this. My kids are teenagers now, so I'm a little lucky, It is my husband who will be my little one! ha ha My advice to you is just make sure you do spend some time with your family and let them know that you do need to spend time studying. (a lot) As far as cheap books; go to half.com, I found some books almost half off. Best of luck! HDfatboy
  8. Thank you I got a 90 on the A&P test
  9. Good choice for a school! If you can afford to quit work go for it. I am laid off, so I took advantage of it. You just learn to do WITHOUT a lot of all the extras that we take for granted in life. It has been very tough for me, but I know in the end it will be worth it. Just don't over load yourself with classes. I would recommend taking the PSY classes over the summer. they are just a month long and your done! They are not that bad. Definetly Human Bio probably a full semester. Like I said, I was crunched so I had no choice I had to take it over the summer, my plan was to take it in, I think it was in July first, then if I didn't pass, to re-take it in August, and thank god I did. It is a tough class in four weeks. Just put your mind to it, and you can do it! I did!!!!! and still do! I still have a long way to go. We definetly can support each other, if you need any books, just let me know I can sell them to you cheap! I have the intro to psy and the human growth & development books that I don't need anymore you just have to know what book you need when you sign up for the class, just let me know. I'll talk to you later I'm studying for a test this sat in A&P and a test for monday night in Sociology:imbar
  10. Good Luck!
  11. Thank you for your vote of confidence wnt2banurs! My teacher is wonderful, and if you are planning on attending MWCC take A&PI with him! He teaches on tuesday nights and saturdays at Devens. (I'm not sure if I can say his name) My experience with MWCC is wonderful! The staff is great, and very helpful! They will steer you in the right direction. I started my venture in April 09. I am 45 and a single mom of two beautiful teenage girls. I was a kitchen designer and worked for a very large Design/Build firm. I was laid off last Nov(the day after thanksgiving!) When I tried to get another job, 5 companies had closed their doors down. That's when I knew that I needed to change my careers! I have always love taken care of people and knew that nursing was what I needed to do, my boyfriend and family had all agreed! So, I had applied to Monty Tech, but failed the TEAS test by 3 points. I did research and found out that the Mount had an LPN course as well. So I had met with a counsler, and she had given me the program and the courses that I needed to take. Accourding to the Mount, the Teas test that I had taken was a passing grade according to Mount Wachusetts (YEA!!!!) I have an Associates degree and was able to transfer alot of my credits. I didn't have alot of time so I had to crunch! I just needed to take Human Bio which I took in July (at night 5-10:30) along with Intro to PSY (during the day). Then in August, I took another psy during the day, and had to retake Human Bio, because I got a C and you need a C+ (again at night) I was beat! but I had passed with a B+!!!!!!! (YEA!!!) Then it was the wait, and the wait was horrible! We wouldn't find out until October, so I decided in September not to waste a sesmester, so started taking my pre-rec's for the RN program,( in case I didn't make it into the LPN program). I'm in A&P I and Intro to Sociology, (I'm down to 3- pre-rec's for the RN program!!!!) And then at the end of October, I found out that I made it into the LPN program!!!!! So that's my story! I will help you anyway that I can, and wish you good luck! Where are you trying to get in? Im assuming at Mount Wachusetts? My advice to you is: if your not in the nursing feild at all, try to. You get so many points for direct and lesser points for indirect. That is how they evaluate everyone on a point system. Aslo your grades, like me I failed Human Bio so I retook it. Do you work at all? if you do just study study study! Also, try to volunteer at a hospital or a nursing home. You will get points for that. I volunteer at Hayward Hospital, it's wonderful! and the experience is great, I'm actually on the floor with the patients helping everyone out. So let me know where your at with everything, and I'll do my best to help you! We can be each others support! Oh yea, that's the thing you need the most of from your family, support! My children and boyfriend are wonderful! and you need that! So best of luck, and I'll talk to you soon!
  12. YES!!!! Thank you!!!!
  13. Thank you for replying back. Those were my thoughts exactly! That is why I figured that I could do it. I believe that thursdays is my cliniclal. I have orientation on the 18th, and no, I do not have anyone yet for guidance. thank you for the information about doing the research on the meds and the diagnose.
  14. I have been accepted into the PN program at Mount Wachusetts and start in Jan. I am currently taking A&P I and love the teacher, I want to continue and take A&P II with him in Jan., the class is on saturdays, I do not work, and my PN classes are Mon & Wed 8:00-11:00 and Thurs 6:45-3:00. I am just wondering if anyone know's how Fund. of Nursing is? and if it will be too much? I am doing very well in A&P I, and just want to finish it. I feel that I can handle it, and my teacher says to give it a try, he feels that I will be OK. He is a retired doctor and a wonderful teacher! If anyone has taken the PN program please give me your view! thank you!
  15. Hi everyone, I just wanted to share my good news! I was accepted into the LPN program at Mount Wachusetts and start in Jan! I wish everyone good luck, who are still trying to get into the voke!
  16. DO NOT DO IT!!!!!!!:angryfire I don't care if you live 1 mile from the border, if you ever got laid off you will get NOTHING!!!!!! I am from mass, and was working as a designer in NH and making GREAT money, (before going to nursing school in mass), anyways, I was laid off last thanksgiving that is when I starting nursing school, I recieved $242.00 a week from unemployment, they are horrible!!!!! I will never work NH again, and advise anyone if you live in mass dont do it. They don't even cover you for dependents, Mass does. So please don't for your on sake.
  17. WOW! I'm from Boston! You might ant to think of moving out here!
  18. Hi Sawyer12, Good luck in the CNA course! I do think that you are doing the right thing, it will only benfit you when you re-apply, because now you will have a year experience in nursing! I did the same thing, I just finished a CNA program in Lowell, it took me three weeks, and now I'm just waiting to take my test through the red cross for my license. I have luckly landed a job as a CNA and can start as soon as I recieve my license. I will be working per-dem, which will work out great- hopefully if I get accepted into the LPN program! I had tried getting into the Voke for Sept. but did not make it! I was so bumbed so, I did some research and found out that Mount Wachusetts had an LPN program, so I applied to Mount Wachusetts LPN program which starts in Jan., I passed what is called the Teas test to be accepted and had to take some pre-rec classes before getting in. I finished them over the summer, and now I'm just waiting for my letter! I should recieve it next week It dosnt stop there! I am now now taking A&P I and a sociology classes for the RN program, iI need three more pre-rec's for the RN program! I pray that I get accepted into the LPN program, but for some reason I don't I will apply for the RN. Well good luck with everything! HDfatboy!
  19. Thank you! Good luck to you too!
  20. Hi Kim, Good for you, and good luck ! You can do it, just put your mind to it and you you will be fine! You will also NEED your families support! It is going to be a tough road. You basically have to realize that you will have no life for 10 months ! Your life will be at the voke and studying! I'm not trying to scare you, that's just how it is. I was in that program 8 years ago and had to drop out for personal reasons. I'm 45 now and going back. I'm trying to get into Mount Wachusetts program. It's a little different, they want you to take some classes before you start like Human Biology and two Psy classes, which I have completed over the summer. I'm just waiting to receive the letter and hopefully will be starting in Jan. Good Luck! Did you take the test already for the Voke?
  21. Hi Allwehopefor, I'm also starting a CNA program in sept. I'm also attending Mount Wachusetts trying to get into the LPN program. I have taken my pre-recks and just waiting to hear if I'm accepted for Jan. This program is different from Lowell Voke. You have to take all the pre-recks first then, when your in the class you just focus on all the nursing classes! Wish me luck! and I wish everyone luck as-well who are attending the Voke! it is INTENSE!!!!!
  22. Good Luck ladies! Like I said, you really need yours FAMILIES SUPPORT:wink2:! you have to maintain a certain average:scrying: but you can do it, just know that you will soon have NO LIFE for the next 9 months!!! But it will be worth it! talk to you later!
  23. Hi, if you are relocating go onto this web site "Florida Hospital"" I found it by just typing things in it's a great site! good luck! I'm hoping to attend Mount Wachusetts in Jan. and have already starting searching!

The teachers are great! two of them are still there! Good Luck! Donna
