  1. Hello austinbaby I have also been accepted into Texas Tech PNP Program, but I am finding it rather difficult to find any reviews for this program. I have until 6/6 to accept the offer, but I have also applied to University of South Alabama. Due to a delay I have no idea if i have been accepted into their program. I have found numerous reviews on their PNP Program, but nothing for Texas Tech.
  2. I too was just hired on and honestly I would rather hear information coming from a PARKLAND employee rather than someone who doesnt work there or has never been employed there. Also I still havent heard anything on why they would be building a NEW facility if it was going to be closed down everyone seems to be ignoring that statement. I am excited to work there and I will be saving lives and doing what A NURSE should be doing rather than focusing on everything else that is going on on these other websites... Patient safety FIRST remember!
  3. No problem! It wasnt this much info for me when I applied...most of the info prettyladie gave last summer so it helped me alot!
  4. Well I took Intro to nursing at UTA so I dont have that here. But basically Health Assessment is on Monday from 1-3:50, Patho is pretty much online...you go on the first time but after that only on the test days...everything else concerning Patho is online. My clinicals are on Thursdays from 10-12....i think if you have to take Intro then its on thursdays at 1pm....I didnt take statistics here but i think thats an option if you need to be full time for financial aid. IN MY OPINION you can miss some health assessment lectures and still get a high grade...sometimes she has pop quizzed and she has had a guest speaker twice so far and their material has been on the exam...but other than that its not necessarily required for you to come....neither patho or assessment take roll. Im not sure in Intro....but in clinicals they do mark who is there and who is not, but very close to the end of the semester they have makeup labs for those whi have missed them earlier in the semester. Im not so sure about the 2nd semester though because i think some days we have like 6 45am clinicals...Basic is at 8am and Pharm is at 9 30 mondays and wed.....clinicals are on tue or thursdays. I hope this helped!
  5. CONGRATS YOU GUYS!
  6. Hello all....If you recently applied for the Fall 2010 semester, you can now call Cathrine Rudy to see if you got into the program...GOOD LUCK!
  7. I agree with huggiebear1979
  8. I had ******* for Chemistry and lumbley for A&P1 and for A&P 2 her nickname was *** i dont know her real name she was from Thailand. I think ** ***** teaches Micro at CVC. I like it at MSU its my first semester in Nursing school...its hard work but im handling it very very well
  9. @ knalimol CONGRATS ON GETTING IN!!! My friend that I knew at UTA was from houston and she got accepted into MSU and Texas A&M in Corpus Christi, but she went to Corpus Christi because she would be closer to home and I dont blame her lol. Idk when MSU's will be coming in so I would go ahead and send the PV stuff off. The program here is hard, but anywhere u go its probably gon be hard...as long as u read and study then you should be fine at PV as well as at any other nursing school. @ Delgadido I understand completely....you get burned out on it. Its a good town to be able to study in and not get too distracted...when you get a break from studying then you will see that there are plenty options. As far as the fully furnished apartments...I know the Grove is on Taft Blvd...as well as the on campus apartments...but thats the only ones I know of.
  10. I took both of my Anatomy's and Chemistry at Cedar Valley College, I took my micro at UTA then transfered to Midwestern State University
  11. I actually like the school its a very nice campus and so far I like the people, I didnt think I would because it was my first time being away from home....but I adjusted within days! 2.The area is pretty nice, everything you need is right there! You wont waste very much gas at all! The place where we do clinicals is like 7 minutes away...mostly because of the traffic lights. Alot of people say its boring up here, but they have bars, clubs, game places, movie theaters, skating rinks...jus depends on the person...me personally I dont have time to say that its boring because Im always studying. 3.They do, you can either study in the Clark Student Center or go to the library and request a room...its not hard to find a spot at all 4. Now I stay in on campus apartments and they are nice, but I odnt know much about them here....there is a orevious post about the apartment prices from prettyladie im not sure what page number, but you should check it out. 5. its a very good program, it takes hard work and alot of reading and studying to get the grades you want( from my perspective). On page 19 of this post someone has put all the courses you will have to take throughout the semester. For the first 2 semesters, if you are on financial aid, you will need to find extra courses to be full time. Another thing you will hear about is about pharmacology in teh 2nd semester....alot of people take it at a community college because its hard up here...but it's up to you on where you want to take it. Ive heard both sides and have decided to take it at MSU. Other than that I think its a good program.
  12. no problem...anytime!
  13. Huggienbear1979- Ive also decided to take it at MSU instead of online somewhere else, I think it will help out ALOT later on knalimol- No problem we dont mind helping out.....You should actually be hearin in a couple of weeks if you got in...and if you look some posts back like maybe around post 8-12 or something then one of my friends actually explained step by step how to add up your points.
  14. Alum08- they actually didnt tell me how many points I applied with but I estimated between 60-63 something around that. I had like 70 credit hours when I applied and as long as you put into WTNEC the right way I promise it wont get overlooked. You still have to send your transcript to MSU Admissions also. The HESI scores actually dont count or factor into the point system...they take the NET up here....we take the Hesi when we get ready to graduate. If you have anymore questions just ask me!
  15. Oh I dont mind my friend did it for me so I dont care! So far the first semester is going great! Im in Health Assessment, Pathophysiology, Computer and some blow off class lol. It's really not that difficult right noe, you really have to put the effort into studying and reading. If you dont know your material then you might not do so well in the course. The questions on the exams are all nursing situations so you have to apply what you know to the question. But if you have good time management and read and study you will have no problems. I actually like the school, people say its such a small town and that there is nothing to do....but in all honesty the town is not that small...WF has everything you really need down there. Yes there isnt much entertainment, but they do have some....but if your anything like me I study so much I dont have time to say Im bored! LOL The teachers are okay, I really dont talk to them much unless I have a question...but most are nice. Clinicals are good, you have to go to United Regionals to SIMS lab, you get a lab partner and you practice the assessment techniques on eachother. It's only one day of the week and you can pick from different times, but the good times like 3-5 fill up FAST! I stay in on campus apartments so Im not sure how much the others off campus are. My advice would be if you have any questions at all about courses or the application proccess call Cathrine Rudy at MWSU and WTNEC....Im pretty sure they memorized my number because I called so much lOL. You want to make sure everything is done the right way so it wont mess your chances up of getting in. When you get into the program STUDY AND READ!!!! I cant stress that enough, but as long as you do that you will have no problems! If you have any other questions dont hesitate to ask! And sorry it took me so long to reply!
  16. LOL its gonna come around before you know it...next thing you know you will be taking your letter out of the mailbox. I think quite a bit of people apply, but Im not so sure about the numbers on that, Cathrine would be able to answer that question for you. Yea Im almost done with my first semester of Nursing school..YAY!! lol Your doin the right thing by asking questions because I was constantly asking questions on here, I actually met one of my good friends in the nursing program through here...its a very good resource!
  17. You should be hearing somethin like around April, i think they accept between 80-100, they always take in more people just incase some people dont attend MSU...at least thats what the advisor (Cathrine Rudy) told me last April before I applied for Spr 2010. As long as your pre reqs are good grades like around a B or A then you shouldnt worry you will have very GOOD chances getting in! :)
  18. You will be fine, I applied with i think 60 or 61 points, I had finished all the pre reqs, I finished my humanities before I came, when i applied I didnt have economics or computer class completed. Im in computer now and taking economics next semester. You will be fine though, those courses are not required for you to get into the program.
  19. Well I had to pay 50 dollars for Midwestern when I applied in september. The pay option should be on the upper right hand side under one of those options...I can no longer get back into my WTNEC account so Im not 100% on that, but as long as you check each of those options then you will find it. I had to fill out the Texas residency form and send it to MSU...so print it, fill it out and send it to your desired school. I hope this helps, anymor questions just ask us! Good Luck!
  20. I wish there was!!!!! But not that I know of....I think thats the only way the new students can register. We have a hold that says orientation required...but at least we can look at how many spots are left in each course, but I cant find an option to register.
  21. You have my Facebook Prettyladie lol....but if anyone else wants to find me my email is [email protected] I think you can find me that way lol...see yall in 2 weeks!
  22. Hey has anybody found anywhere to buy the Health Assessment book other than the bookstore????I keep searching and searching and I keep coming up on the 5th 2007 edition...we need the 5th 2008 edition. I been on half.com, chegg, alibris, bookbyte, amazon, google ect...i cant find it!!!! I went to one website http://www.us.elsevierhealth.com/product.jsp?isbn=9781416032434 and they have it for 96.95....(elsevier is the publisher of the book)...so from the way I see it...its either the bookstore or elsevier)
  23. Oh and pretty ladie is soooooo awesome!!!!
  24. Hello all!!!!! To boosh17 sorry I havent been gettin any email notifications about any new posts....but Im living in McCullough Trigg hall....and they are private regular rooms...which means we get our own door YAY!!! but lol they already assigned me a roommate...but Im on the 3rd floor and they still have 2 rooms open so when you apply and send in your deposit just write on there that you request to stay on the 3rd floor and we just might end up being suite mates!
  25. Hello All. I too got accepted into the program at MSU as prettyladie already knows lol. Im so excited and nervous at the same time. I will be staying on campus for maybe a yr so I can meet new people. MSU's housing is ALOT cheaper than UTA'S they will rip you off! Talk to prettyladie because she will give you all the information and cheap prices to get everything! I would also like to know about any scholarships anything would help. Im so excited to meet all of you guys in Jan!!!!
