L&D versus Surgical floor.
I have two interviews next week one for L&D at a large hospital and the other on a Surgical/Oncology floor at a small Hospital. I just graduated and have done clinical at both hospitals. I am very intrigued with both types of nursing. The small hospital is very homey and every one seems to know each other plus it is 35 minutes from my house and pays less. The larger hospital is expanding and they have a new facility being built down the street from me that will be complete in a couple years. Since this is a larger hospital there is not a homey feel of course but I have used this facility personally to have my children and had a good experience each time. I was told by some one that if I was offered the job in L&D and accepted it that I would have limited my nursing skills and would probably have a hard time changing jobs in the future. I am really leaning toward the L&D job but if it does not work out I do not want to have limited my future job opportunities. So my question is I guess what would you do?

8 months and still no job
Well if HCC2010 stands for Henderson Community College than that is were I just graduated from. I have yet to find a job as well. But I do have two interviews. Try doing to the local hospitals that you applied to and talking to the Nursing recruiter and giving her a paper resume and cover letter on some nice paper. See if that helps. Good luck!:)

I use studystack.com. It is a free site that lets you make flash cards and then you can use your flash card information for things like crossword puzzels matching and games all with your own info! Got me through nursing school.

I.V. Calculation HELP
Hello everyone, I need some help figuring out this calculation problem. I just cant figure it out. 4 grams of lidocaine in dextrose 5% in water has been prescribed for IV infusion at a rate of 1mg per minute. The IV solution has a total volume of 500 ml. The IV should be infused at how many mL per hour? The answer given was 7.5 mL per hour. Can any one please just give me an idea on how to pursue this:D? Thanks a bunch.

First Care Plan CONFUSED
Okay well this is my first few weeks of my nursing program. I was given a short description of a client. I am supposed to come up with all possible diagnosis and then do a care plan on the most important one. My client is 44 years old and 2 days post op. from a abdominal hysterectomy. Incision is clean and and dry and well approximated. Patient has a indwelling catheter that is due to come out this am. Urine is clear. Patient states she does not like carrying Cath bag with her down the hallway. She is sleeping and eating well. She just came off of a 24 hour liquid diet. Has gas pains and bowel sounds in all four quadrants. Client states she has not had a bowel movement since the enema before surgery. Post op orders include - ambulation QID, a stool softener BID,Fleet enema prn 3rd day post op, morphine IM for pain. So far possible nursing diagnosis I have are, Acute Pain Constipation Risk for infection Disturbed body image My problem is how many characteristics does the client have to present for the diagnosis to be accurate? For acute pain the client presents at least two characteristics but I am not sure if I can use them since it is subjective. Please help all responses welcome thanks!

Test without any use?
Hello everyone, I was accepted into the nursing program for my school. I will start on Ausgust 17, 2009. I recived my information packet in the mail. I read in my packet that I will have to take a $266.00 test called a "TEAS" teast. They wrote that this test does not effect my GPA or my status in the program. So my question is besides someone making $266.00 on it why do I need to take it? Your input would be welcome!
