LPN to RN School in Tampa Fl
Hey all, Having been where you are not so long ago, I too had a lot of the same questions. I have a previous BS but a not so stellar GPA so I had to go the long route, but in all honesty, the best route for me. I completed my LPN program at a local Vo-tech school that was a great learning experience. I proved to myself that I was capable of anything once I put my mind to it. After getting my license I went to my local community college and took Stats (to up my Algebra grade), Lifespan Development, and AP 1 & 2, as well as Micro. I made sure to get all A's to boost my GPA for acceptance into the local bridge program at the same school. I just started my bridge program this week and I am excited, nervous, and scared all at the same time. I have yet to work, so I am pretty green. I thought about Galen, as they were the most kind as far as GPA forgiveness, but at the end of the day, I will be glad to have an AS degree so I can continue to a Masters program if I so desire. Be aware of the different choices out there and call the Board of Nursing to help make your decision. I wish all of you good luck. I may have taken a little longer than expected to finish my program but at least I am going to finish it.

NCLEX quick results
Does anyone know how long it takes for the results to show up on the Fl BON website? Longer than 48 hours? 24hrs? Thanks for any info!

i just wanted to know if you felt like this
Hi all, I take my last tommorrow, have a 3 day preceptorship and some general school housekeeping stuff left to finish and I graduate on the 29th. I can't believe it is here, but I am so glad it is over too! It is very bittersweet. Last year at this time I was so excited, so organized, and literally counted the days down until school started. I was gregarious, thrilled, and still am but I am tired. I am ready to come home and not have to study. The thought of that is still foreign to me. I too am ready for a slice of my life back. Nursing school is not so much hard as it is demanding and encompassing. You have to pay your dues. You need to study. It is only going to get more difficult. I don't want you to think I am being negative because I am not, but you need to get your game on. If you don't have it, you will lose, and I have seen people that I thought were so strong get dropped. It kills me. I hate to see anybody who busts their butts to get into school get asked to leave because of either grades or practicing outside of their scope of practice. I can only suggest that you get organized with every aspect of your life. Make the commitment, that you already have, and get through it. I wish you the best of luck. You can succeed. But you need a good kick in the pants to get there! Stay strong!

Opinion about adding a class?
Sorry about that! OK, I am in classes 7:20am to 2:00pm M-F, I do not work, have a very supportive family, and a baby in first grade. My commute time is like 20minutes to NS and the local CC is about 25minutes. The class I would take is A&P 1 in the evenings MWTH from 6-7:30 and Th 6-9 (lab) I don't know the extent of my course load because we have not had orientation yet, but I start Aug 24th 2009 and graduate July 30th 2010. Again thank you for the responses!

Opinion about adding a class?
Hello all, any suggestions would be appreciated. I am starting NS in August (LPN) and I am thinking about taking A&P at my local college as well. I found a class that works with my schedule but I don't know if I am taking on too much. I need to do really well in all of my classes. I took an A&P course that was school specific ( so I am familiar with course content) but I need one with a lab so I can continue to bridge to RN after I graduate as an LPN. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

HESI A2 Admissions Exam - Anatomy / Physiology portion?
Sorry I did not clarify that! The A&P course I am speaking about is a school specific course. Just having A&P under my belt made a huge difference. But my A&P course was an online course through elsievier which was the same test site for the HESI. Do you have the review book for the test?

HESI A2 Admissions Exam - Anatomy / Physiology portion?
Our school required the same test only they included Chemistry and Biology as well! I took the test twice, once with no studying and a second time after completing the required online A&P class. My score improved by 10 points because of the required online class. I will note however that the second time I took the test the level of difficulty increased as well. The study book for the test is very basic. The best part was the quick remedial on the math. I would also suggest boning up on the info you do know really well and not try to teach yourself chemistry. In the end, it is the cummlative grade that is important. Good luck!

New LPN students to start soon !! Come share your experiences :)
I just read every post from this thread and even though it took me awhile (wink) all I can say is how terribly excited I am! I start August 24th and I just finally got my info packet (not enough info for me BTW!) and then we left for vacation. So, I am sitting here in the smokies reading nursing threads and making master lists of everything I need to accomplish before school starts and I can hardly contain my excitement. I am touched by so many of your struggles to get to this point, your concerns, and over all general excitement. Godspeed to all of you!

Student Loan Forgiveness for Nurses??
First of all I am not a troll. I am from a middle class family where my dad made too much money for me to be eligible for any financial assistance. I am one of four and there just was not enough money to go around. The only way I could go to school was through student loans (and my interest started compounding the day I took the loan out) and my summer job as a camp councelor. I was able to complete my four year degree at about a 18,000 loan to be repaid the month I graduated. Did it stress me out? YES! Did I pay every fricken penny back? YES! I was THANKFUL that I could go to school, work a part time job, and graduate with a BS. I PAID my student loan back in FULL with interest. So no I am not a troll, I am a real person who made my payments in full. I am a bit cautious of the free rides out there because I sure did not get one and I am a thankful for the education I got. I am blessed enough to go back to school now for my true passion and again I am THANKFUL. And I am having to pay in full with no discounts from our savings.

Student Loan Forgiveness for Nurses??
I'm sorry, but you took a loan out and you need to pay it back. I took loans out and I payed them back with interest. I was thankful that I could go to school because of student loans and I payed them back. Why should anyone be exempt?
