Welcome NCLEX February 2011 Test Takers
Rescheduling my NCLEX at the last minute for this morning was a good decision. I was cut off at 75 questions in about an hour and half. I had about 5 SATA, lots of prioritization, pharm questions, content was all across the board. I even had two lung sound questions where I had to use the head phones. I tried the PVT and got the good pop up! I'm so excited but definitely want to get my quick results in a few days to confirm

Welcome NCLEX February 2011 Test Takers
I had originally scheduled mine for Feb 21st (the school messed up my records so I was delayed in getting my ATT) but a time slot came open for tomorrow Feb 5th and I rescheduled at the last minute. I did Hurst review and have done practice questions from other books but have not studied a ton. I'm nervous but at the same time I'm never going to feel fully confident or prepared no matter when I take it. I just want to get it done. I know I learned alot in nursing school but I don't know everything and the NCLEX doesn't expect you to. I'm just trying to be as positive and optmisitic as I can! Hopefully all goes well!

We will be attending the Evolve training within the next few weeks and they will walk us through everything then.

The teacher who administered my test yesterday said that regular clothes were fine as long as they were appropriate and that students could wear flip flops if they wanted to. There is no strict dress code that we have to follow for class.

They did not tell us to at orientation so I figured they would have if we were supposed to. I went up to campus last week to pick mine up and CJ told the girl at the desk to tell not pass out the rest until the students came for their degree audits, and to my knowledge there were still several there so I don't even think everyone has them yet. I was not planning on wearing mine.

None of my classes are on Blackboard yet and I'm starting to get frustrated. Thankfully I had to go to campus yesterday and saw the schedule for Pharmacology so I know what chapters to go ahead and start reading. But I would like for all my classes to be posted on blackboard so that I get the syllabi and everything else I need. Maybe my teachers are just slower than everyone elses.

Assessment is not on my blackboard yet. I hope my classes will be on there by the end of the week so I can everything prepared.

Did everyone get the email regarding volunteer hours? I'm interested in doing the ADA walk in November and was just wondering if anyone else was looking into doing it as well? Do we need to go ahead and register and email out letters now or wait until sometime after classes start? I want to be as prepared as I can. I wonder how many total hours we will have to do this semester.

That's exactly what I printed off as well. I don't think we are missing anything.

I believe the second dosage calculation test is on September 21st. It says the date in one of the emails the nursing tutor sent us.

I was #108 but I still got my second choice so I was happy. I picked section 10.

I think the server is just really busy because everyone is trying to register right now. I got lucky and caught it at the the right time to register. I then went to look at my schedule and it was unavailable. I waited a little while and then it was available again. After the next few days it shouldn't give us that many problems.

I thought the same thing but if you look at it closer it says the class goes 8/31-11/02 and additional dates are 11/02-12/18. What constitutes the additional dates I'm not sure but it does say they all start 8/31.

I had the same issues at first but I went down to the quick links and clicked on registration. I first tried to the open class search but it came back with no results. Then I did the express registration where it has 6 boxes and allows you to enter the reference numbers. I entered all 4 numbers and submitted and then I was registered. Try it that way and see if it works.

The packaged box of brand new books for first term cost $700 at the bookstore. It includes a lot of books such as pharmacology, medical terminology, nursing diagnosis handbook, fundamentals of nursing, nursing intervention & clinical skills, physical examination & health assesment plus some interactive DVDs and an NCLEX examination review book. The lady at the bookstore said that they were all the books we needed for first term and they make it easier by selling them together.

We will register for classes and get our schedules at orientation. I went ahead and bought my books through the north campus bookstore. They sell the entire set of first term books packaged together in a box brand new and there are a lot of them (plus some interactive DVDs). Once I bought them I priced them new on amazon.com and there was no major difference in price. You could probably buy them all used off the internet there are just so many books and I'm the kind of person who would rather buy them from the school being safe in knowing that I have the right editions of everything we need. FYI, the box is very heavy so park as close to the building as possible if you do decide to buy them from the bookstore.

Thanks. I went to Stat-Line today and bought my skills kit. They only had about 3-4 available but were in the process of putting more together. So now I've got everything I need except for the polo shirt and hemostat. Does anyone have suggestions on where to purchase the right 6 inch hemostat that we will need? I can't believe orientation is only a few days away and school starts in a little over two weeks! OMG!! I'm getting more excited by the day!

I called statline almost two weeks ago to place my order and they said they would call me when the order came in and they never did. I guess I will call in the morning to see if they still have some before driving all the way out there. Surely they know how many of us there are so we all should be able to get one before classes start. I also called last week to order my polo shirt and they were supposed to call me and didn't. Does anyone if you go by florida specialty to pick it up or do you pick it up and pay for it at orientation?

FCCJ Fall '09???
I am unable to find your new thread under FCCJ Fall 09 RN. Can you tell me how to get to it? Maybe I'm looking on the wrong pages, I don't know.

FCCJ Fall '09???
I would call and talk to someone at the front desk for help, not cheryl james. A friend of mine had not gotten a letter and he talked to them yesterday and it turns out they sent his packet to the wrong address, so he had to go to campus and pick up all of the information. Orientation is less than two weeks away. You would think at this point that they could tell you something.

FCCJ Fall '09???
I have contacted worksource and am attending one of their orientation sessions this week. You can qualify based on income so I am going to see if I can because I do not qualify for pell grant. Just contact one of the offices listed in the acceptance packet and they can tell you when the orientation sessions are and sign you up.

FCCJ Fall '09???
To my understanding most classes are anywhere from about 8:00 in the morning to 3:00 in the afternoon (possibly earlier or later I'm not 100% positive) so I think if you took those classes in the evening at Kent then it would not conflict it would just be a difficult schedule. You could always try to take them online. I took Hum/Growth online and it did require a decent amount of work but it was not hard.

FCCJ Fall '09???
My acceptance letter said that orientation is mandatory for all students. If you have an exam for a current class already scheduled that day then will make other arrangements but I think that is the only exception.
