For those who already have started the nursing program or started last year.... did you buy any supplemental/additional books? If so, what?

Outside of Epocrates, what other applications will you guys be using?

Shawn: It stays on the form that tipi27 linked, that we don't have to answer everything. Somethings are just too personal for everyone to know, so hopefully they will understand!

Just curious if anyone has gotten their books yet? For the HHSC, we no longer need the Standards and Scope of Nursing Practice book due to what a professor has already stated to the book store. For the HHSC class, I have the Clinical Calculations by Keys and Fundamentals in Nursing (current edition) by Taylor. Also there are some scrub orders in, and they will be picked up by your name. I have not gotten the rest of my books yet, as I have to pay for them by out of pocket.

Yeah definitely! I'm curious because I know there was a lot of changes that were made. My biggest question is cost for the first year of the program, which includes class costs + supplies. That's my biggest issue right now, is cost.

The guy at the book store said that we needed a nurse pack. Whether that is true or not, I don't know. I haven't gotten anything in the mail. I'm completely aware of what's listed on page 29, but wanted to let August and October starters know that the nurse packs weren't even in it. I guess they are having issues with the publisher for one of the books that we need for the HHSC class. I'm hoping to hear more real soon, considering that class starts in a few days.

I went to the bookstore as well, so I could get my books for the HHSC 1040 course and they do not have Standards and Scope of Nursing practice in right now. They also do not have the nursing packs in either. I currently have to wait right now to get books due to financial aid not being readily available until 9 days before classes start. However, I plan on paying for my HHSC 1040 books. I wasn't able to get my scrubs today, because they do not have any XS scrub pants in.

Jessica, I believe we will be doing that in the Intro to Nursing course. I'm not exactly sure about that. Shawn, I believe we only have to wear our scrubs on lab days.

I think so, jlmcla. I'm waiting to get the medical paperwork in the mail, before I get all the medical stuff done. I've got a couple supplies. I am registered from all my classes as well.

I start in October! :)

If you take a look at the sections, some are in different buildings than one another for MTW.

Shawn: I register to at 10PM. The nice thing about this, is our classes are now assigned to us. No more hurry up and wait, and all the other stresses that come with registration. It looks like for the HHSC class, some of us will go separate at first and then all come together by the looks of the building set up.

CorazonDeOro Since you've already completed your first year of Nursing, I was curious as to what brand of shoes did you buy? New Balance? Any recommendations for supplies and where to purchase? Thanks! :)

I wanted to start a supply list of recommendations. I know some of you have already purchased your stethoscopes. I'm curious as to what you purchased and where you purchased it from. I'm leaning towards the Littmann Class II SE. Also, second hand watches, all white athletic shoes,penlights and iPod touches. I know most of you were talking about New Balances for shoes, and know that Walmart has the cheapest price for the iPod touch. I saw that Target had some decent looking second hand watches. I also saw some really nice Nike's. Please leave some recommendations! :)

Ok! You guys got the same stuff I did then. I thought maybe you guys would have gotten paperwork for the doctors to fill out as well, considering you have to have your stuff done before us. Thank you! :)

Sorry to butt in to the August starters just wanted to say that I will being pay attention to this thread often, considering I start in October. :)
