  1. I took A&P I in July, and found that a lot of the lectures from UCBerkley's Integrative Biology class helped me. here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=9A701D54E8896D0E Also, when it comes to the krebs/citric cycle, watch this: as well as the followup videos. When it comes to study skills, my book had objectives listed in the front of each chapter. I would sit down for each chapter before the test and answer each of those objectives and any other relevant info from the chapter. Using multiple color inks to separate different ideas/information, and to break up the monotony. You can also learn a lot by tracing/drawing your own diagrams (I did this for major joints, the brain, the eye, etc). Pay special attention to any basic cellular anatomy and biology. It's a lot of info to learn (especially in a month), but study and try to put the whole picture together and you can do well. Study hard!
  2. I'll throw in, too.. A&P 2 (4) A&P 2 Lab Organic Chemistry (4) Organic Lab Composition 2 (3) Developmental Psychology (3) and some other class to round out the 16-17 credits I figure I can handle. After this semester, I'll have only speech, micro, and statistics to finish before my prereqs for UAMS will be complete!
  3. I'm taking A&P I, Nutrition, and Sociology this month (Summer term). I'm halfway through it as of last week, and working my ass off to keep things going. 15 days left! If you can remember things, A&P won't be difficult at all. My advice: many colors of pens for notes, youtube videos to supplement lectures (I'm serious on this one, there's great stuff on bones, protein synthesis, sliding filament theory, etc), and doing your own drawings, and finding the big picture. I'm about to dive back into my book for tomorrow's test.. Sarcomeres await! Best of luck!
  4. I'm in the last few days of a similar class right now, and it's been one of my favorite classes I've ever taken. The subject matter itself isn't difficult, there's just a lot of thinking involved to figure out the arguments being made. Some concepts may be a little foreign if you haven't been exposed to philosophy before. The point in the class I'm taking is to be able to make an argument, and back it up, using different elements of the different philosophies studied. We've had to write a total of 6 papers, 5 that were expected to be 2-3 pages long, and one that was to be around 5. If there's reading, do it.. highlight the key points, and try to get the jist of what the author's trying to say. For each of the concepts involved, I found that it was very handy to do a mind map (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind_map) of the topic to keep the ideas and relationships straight. (This method will likely work well for every other class too). Also, participate in class. The discussions are really interesting if you get what's going on and can contribute. Chances are, your teacher will be looking for that and will determine it as part of your grade as part of the whole engaged-learning thing. If you can show you're thinking, then he/she has done their job well. Topics covered: Psychological/Ethical Egoism Relativism Utilitarianism (Act & Rule) Hobbes Kant Feminism Hume Moral Sentiment Theory etc Good luck!
