Am I Nurse Material?
I think you are making a true heart felt attempt to follow a new stance in this ever changing world of nursing. Remember what you learn in school, you will also show your kids that it doesn't matter how young or old you are you will always be learning something new. Nursing is a very diverse profession. There are many opportunities in this field that expand far beyond the Hosp. job and the 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm or the 11pm-7am tours. There are so many avenues you can indulge in... It's endless. and I congradulate you in making a descission that's right for you in your heart. Don't let anyone tell you that you shouldn't do this or that or be this or that... I know it's our nature and your mom knows you best but, your not that little girl anymore and now that you have 2 children obviously you will do :nurse:what's best for them in all aspects of their life. GoodLuck and hold on tight because you are in for a Wild but most rewarding ride of your life!

hostile staff member
It's a shame that we are forced to put up with this nonsence. We are in this profession to help others in need and yet we are subjected by co workeres who are the complete opposite of how we as nurses should be acting. I too have been subjected twice by ignorant people. You have a choice to report it to authorities in this sense this nurse is creating a hostile work environment for you and causing you undoo stress. Remember you too have rights. You have a right to work in a safe environment as well. If the supervisors wont do anything about this nurse who is not only defamming your character ( which by the way is cause for a civil lawsuit), she is creating a hostile work environment and Supervisors need to get rid of her! Period!. However you can't tell your supervisor what to do but what you can do (if you like your job and want to stay there ) is put it in writing you feel this is causing you undoo stress, you feel by working in a hostile environment is not productive for the nursing Dept and in the end the clients or patients will be at risk by having unprofessional nurses who behave like this. *** You will then see how fast they react when you tell them this***. If this doesn't work and if you need to go on medication Rx by you doctor for the reason above at least you have it documented that you have been treated by your doctor and then I would go after that nurse who is causing you this pain personally. Also it would help to get the nurses whom she has rummored stuff to to put it in writing that what this nurse is saying. GOOD LUCK:redbeathe

What's the deal with the 25 test items that aren't scored?
I haven't heard of this before. My only guess is that the 25 questions that are not scored are intended to help you relax before you have to answer the real questions. I know I have test anxiety, if the 25 unscored questions were really easy then I think it would help me relax and answer the real questions better. Just an opinion.

What to do - ADN vs. BSN vs. forget about it!
You are still young enough and have the energy to tackle your education work by the horns so I say Go For It! Do what's in your heart and you will be happier and it will pay off in the end. However your family is important too so make some special dates with your husband and children and trust me you will appreciate them even more. Good Luck!
