  1. hi everyone. i am a nursing student who is new to this forum. i have just completed my sophomore year in a bsn program and will be starting my first med/surg and ob clinicals in august. it has been my long-term dream to work nicu or picu when i graduate. i was wondering if anyone could offer any advice or insight (new grads or experienced nurses) on particulars that i should pay extra attention to during my clinicals over the next few years. i consider myself very organized studious in general, but am hoping for some pointers that may give me an edge on being better prepared to enter the nicu upon graduation. thank you in advance for any replies and tips. if you limit your choices only to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is compromise. - robert fritz
  2. Miami University has a campus in Middletown that has both ADN, RN to BSN, and traditional BSN programs. I just completed my sophomore year of the BSN program and really love it so far. The tuition is far less than that of the Oxford campus and the University has graduated many nurses for a number of years now. I know it's not exactly in the Dayton area, but would be well worth the drive!
  3. I don't think that you are alone in worrying about how to cope. I am the type of person that always puts everything I have into caring for others. Although I am just starting my first full term of clinicals in the fall, I can already tell that this is going to be a huge issue for me as well. I'm sure that we will all develop our own ways of coping with the difficult situations in time. I agree with llg that the liberal arts degree will come in handy.
  4. Glad to hear that you came to Cincinnati. I am a nursing student who just finished my sophomore year in a BSN program. My goal is to become a NICU nurse. Just wanted to say congrats on the position at Good Sam, and thank you for starting this thread. There were a few really good responses that I think will be helpful for new grads!
