Some of my classmates enrolled thru Transamerica Student Health Insurance. It's the one from the CSN packet.

If you can set it to CLOSED group instead of Secret Group, then it will be easier to find in the search bar, just type in the group name. If it's set to "secret group" no one can find it unless you give the direct link. Hope this helps.

You might want to give yourself some time in between classes, if you can. You will watch videos and read prior to lab, go through 3-5 chapters for lecture and for clinical, you will need to spend at least 2-3 hours prep work (doing the worksheet) the day prior your actual clinical. Pharm is 2-3 chapters each week and also lots of info to process. It's doable though if that's the kind of schedule that you have. :)

Hi! You need to create a group not a community. The community setting is very open and anyone can read posts while group is moderated and you don't want to get in trouble with HIPAA and other privacy stuff.

The first part of Toolbox, December, is the Careplan portion, the 2nd part in January is the Math portion.

Here's what I paid for last May 2012 - student price at the Vaccine Center PPD/TBtest ($25) x2 =50 Varicella($110)x2 = 220 MMR ($84) x2 =168 HepB ($55) x3=165 (the 3rd round required prior to start of 2nd sem) ---- I believe their TdaP is about ($65 or 75) x1 (I did this separately for free)

I went to the Vaccine Center down on 95N/N.Rainbow for all my vaccines and 2-step TB test. It's the one that CSN has tie-up with, cheaper compared to Walgreens, CVS. The SNHD charges admin fee per vaccine and the locations might not be convenient for you, travel-wise. Your insurance will not cover your adult immunizations unless your doctor will say that it is "medically" necessary. School requirement is not a reason for reimbursement accdg to my insurance, HPN. You can request for blood titers from your doctor. The Vaccine Center also does titers. The school will also give you info which insurance they have a tie-up with. For now, just get your documents in order if you have your vaccines already. If you still need vaccines, wait for the orientation because the school will give you important dates and what vaccines can be combined with the TB testing, etc..

There's a workbook for the Toolbox you can only buy from the bookstore, it's around $3 or 5. Just to give you an idea on cost of books, the 1st sem books are bundled around $600-800 thru the bookstore. Of course you can source online thru amazon, barnes, etc.., rent or get the e-books set.

For Neris, you should try to attend the orientation. People have actually declined their spots after the 1st or 2nd orientations.

Flu vaccine is not required, but it's a good idea to get it, especially if you can get it for free. :) I just had a bout of colds, got it from my lab partner, good thing it did not worsen and I was able to attend my clinical day last week.

Regardless when you start nursing school, you'll have to deal with dosage calc every semester until you graduate. All the way throughout your RN career actually, you'll be doing dosage calc, infusion rates, etc whenever you pass meds. Also, it's not an entire week that they will teach you, it's only about 1-2 hours during one class and it's more of a review of homework answers. It's expected that you know how to do the math already. It's not the only the calculation and conversion (which are pretty simple), it's knowing how to read and interpret word problems/drug labels and picking out the right numbers and measurements to use. I heard 5 or so people didn't pass their dosage calc this semester and that was 4 weeks into the program already, imagine the time and money already spent with books, immunizations, tuition etc, only to stumble on the dosage calc...

Spring Semester starts Jan 22nd (from the CSN calendar) :)

Pharmacology and the Nursing process 6th ed, Lilley. this semester. The 100b used to be Math and Dosage Calc by Booth & Whaley.

The 101 book right now is Fundamentals of Nursing by Potter & Perry, 8ed, if you want to read. Or you can familiarize yourself with NCLEX style questions. Look up medical terminology. Read up on different drugs. Practice your math skills - dosage calculation, get comfortable with conversions, using ratio/prop or dimensional analysis. There are a lot of resources all over the web, you can start here in the forums. Best of luck! :)

Books are expensive but you'll use them beyond 1st sem, try borrowing from the library first at CSN or maybe the public lib has them to browse until u get the official booklist from the school. The clinicals are LTC then Sub-Acute or Rehab. The facilities are all over the valley, you won't find out where until the first three clinical classes in campus. I have LTC in Summerlin then Sub-Acute will be in Henderson.

Hi everyone. I just want to say good luck and just my 2 cents, while you're all waiting for the results, start reading up on general nursing stuff, the fundamentals, medical terminology, drug info, brush up on your math dosage calculation, watch videos about various nursing skills, refresh your writing skills, APA format. You'll be going through a lot of materials once you start the program, and 1st sem is tough. I'm only a first sem student, 5 weeks into the program, one regret is that I could have used my free time to read. Again, good luck! P.S. Start saving up for future expenses- immunizations, tuition, books, uniform/s, shoes, stethoscope, bp cuff, drug test, background check etc. You can get a loan or fin aid but those won't come in until after school has started. :)

Can you post the exact problem or is there a link to it? I came up with 29mL based on the numbers that you posted.
