  1. Yea that's what I was thinking too. After reading a few others threads, they seemed to have at least started a few months before graduation. Id assume they would be able to accept with a clause of passing the NCLEX before leaving for the ARMY
  2. Just wanted to run this by yall to see if it sounds right. He told me that I can't apply until after I graduate and pass the NCLEX. So that would put me into May/June 2011 that my application packet would be submitted. He also mentioned that since I'll be applying so late, there is a chance there will not be any spots available for the 2011 fiscal year, so I'd have to wait for the 2012 fiscal year (sometime after October 2011)...this sounded kind of strange and defeats the purpose of trying to get a head start on my application. I was really trying to get a spot as close to graduation as possible or late summer/early fall.
  3. That would be nice if mine goes just like that.
  4. A hospital I practice clinicals at participates this technique in select areas. For instance, surgery, LD, nursery, etc... uses hospital supplied uniforms and the rest of the hospital brings their own scrubs to wear for their shift. I love the idea. Im hoping they will put showers into the changing rooms so I can rinse off all the germs I collect throughout the day.
  5. Thank you for the information. The recruiters should be back in the office this week and hopefully I can get some of these things started this summer (fingers crossed).
  6. Little background information: currently attending a 2 year BSN program. Completed my first year and on track to graduate in May 2011. No prior service. When should I start the application process? I heard they took on a lot of new graduates this past year so they may not have many spots available for my graduating class. I'd like to get the ball rolling to ensure I have a better chance of being accepted into a summer class. I called the nurse recruiter last August and was told they normally start the process 6 months from graduation, which seemed odd considering the amount of information that must be processed. What all is involved in the application process? Do I go to meps for a complete physical and/or do I have to complete the AFPT before I start OBLC? Are there any classes or courses that I need to take over this summer to prepare myself for military nursing? I may have read this incorrectly, but ROTC students attend summer program in a military hospital. Is there something like this for the route I chose?
  7. 21k. 2 years pre-reqs i paid for living expenses, loan interest, and books, had the loans for the bulk of the tuition. first year of a BSN program I have used loans (8600) and for the second i plan to use my newly found pell grant to cover for most of the cost, leaving me with no loans for my last year and time to start repayment. How can someone consider taking out 140k in loans for a job that pays 40-60k? I guess you can argue that over someones working career, they will make more by being a nurse. But when you consider the amount he will actually pay after years of accumulating interest he will actually be working to just get by. Not worth it IMO
  8. i use to feel this way as well. It felt like two different lives that started the moment i stepped foot into my job. Kinda odd but what has worked for me is a good workout before work, it gets things flowing and kinda tires you out a little bit.
  9. wine The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 5 characters.
  10. you could also check out the timbers and crosby park apartments. They are both closer, with timbers being within walking distance. I got your message, but i couldn't reply back for some reason. Starting pay for new grads in lawton is around 18.50ish. You can live really good in southwest oklahoma for that amount of money.
  11. Ill be starting at 22 and graduating at 24
