HfCC waiting list
HFCC is a joke. I have been on the waitlist for 2 years. I was suppose to start in the fall of 2010. Last semster I had a very close family member die and I blew off school. Yes I know that this was my own fault. However I went to both admissions and the nursing department and was told that if my gpa dropped below the 2.7 needed level that I would be put on academic probation for the next semster and that if I did not bring up my gpa before I was invited to the nursing program that I would be removed from the list. I was never put on academic probation and received a letter stating that due to my gpa I was removed from the nursing waitlist. Mind you I am retaking the class that caused my gpa to be low and I have a B in the class. This was all done 5 weeks before the end of the smester and before I even received a letter to invite me to the program. I am so ****** off that I was not given the right information. They told me that I could go back on the list but on the bottom and that there would be a 3 year wait. However if I go get my lpn and go back after a year I will be able to jump in front of all the other people on the list and start in the next starting section. It will only take me 3 semsters to fininsh the RN program. So I could of got my lpn and went and got my RN all in the time it took me to be on the waitlist at HFCC.

Ashley I would drop A&P and take Chem. That way you at least have a backup plan if you don't get in at your school any faster. I go to the nursing office at the beginning of every semester and ask what my number is so I know how much closer I am. If I get in the nursing program in May I will have been on the waitlist for 19 months. If I go in the Fall I will be on it for 22 months. So you are right the list can be very long and take a while. However remember that students change schools before starting the program, drop out, or fail. My number was 242 in Sept 2009 and when I went the other day it was 141 and that is before the 40 students starting names are removed from the list. So I figure my number should be around 101.

HfCC waiting list
Sorry for any confusion. This is how it works. When you go to the nursing department and tell them that you want to go into nursing they will give you a paper listing what classes have to be taken. The list is broken into 3 steps (A, B & C). You can choose to do the classes however you what however you must comlete step A in order to get on the waitlist. Then if you haven't already taken the classes on step B you take these while waiting. Then in step C you complete the nursing program. It is true that the classes fill up fast. This semster I forgot to register and got on the next day to do it online and most of the classes where full. The only problem I had was the classes that I wanted to take online I now have to go to the campus to take. I still got in the class but just requires more work. So I will list the steps and what is required for each step. Step A-complete the following classes, passing the NET, and a G.P.A of 2.70 will allow us to place your name on the waitlist for the nursing program. BIO 131, Math 074-080 or 100, Chemistry 131, English 131 & 132, PSY 131, and NET test (HFCC only). After you complete these and any prereqs to take these classes you can get on the list. StepB- PHARM AH120 (HFCC only), BIO 233 & 234, PSY253, SOC 131 and computer literacy requirement. The n Step C you complete the nursing part. Like I said before you can take the classes however you want before step A has to be done before you are on the waitlist. I took some of my step A and B classes at the same time. By getting fin aid I have to have at least 6 credits during the fall and winter so if 2 step A classes was not open I would take a step A and a step B class at the same time. when I went on the waitlist I only had to complete PSY253, BIO 233 & 234 and PHARM. I was done with everything but Chem for a little while because I couldn't get into a class. I started at HFCC in the Fall of 2007 went on the waitlist in Fall of 2008 and hopefully will start the before no later than Fall of 2010.

HfCC waiting list
I was placed on the waitlist in Sept of 2008. I am still not in the program. I talked to someone in the nursing office today and she told me that I may get in for Spring but if not then in the Fall I should be in for sure. I am currently taking BIO-234. This is my last prereq to take. While on the list I have taken classes toward my BSN. I have taken Geology, Nutrition, Anthrology and Western Regliion in the time that I am waiting. I just can't wait to start already. It seems like I will have almost all of my BSN prereqs done before I even have my ASN.

Has anyone enroll in nursing program @HFCC
Hello everyone. I am currently on the waitlist for the nursing program. I went on the list in August of 2008 and I am told that I should watch me mail for a letter around mid October to beginning of November. I would start the program in January of 2010. That will make me on the list for about 16 months. If you start in the winter semseter there are no breaks. For example I hopefully will attend from January 2010 till May 2011. You only get the regular holidays off. However if you attend during the fall you go fall and winter then have spring and summer off and then go back to finish will fall and winter again. When I get more information I will update everyone. Also I wanted to add to not really worry about the pay by friday rule for tuition. I have been registered for fall since it opened up and have not paid anything for classes. Just tell the cashiers you are waiting on Fin Aid even if you aren't. This will buy you some time. Another thing that has worked for me in the past is to make a small payment of $50, $75, or $100 and tell them you just dropped off your Fin Aid inform but don't want to lose you classes. That will keep you from having to pay anything till classes start. And if you get a letter just tell them you are working with Fin Aid and make some sort of payment, the cashiers will give you 2 weeks to a month to work on the problem and this is usually after classes have started. Fin Aid and the cashiers don't communicate unless it is about refund checks and then they take their sweet ass time. I have been there for about a year and a half and have always had Fin Aid problems.
