It doesn't seem like all units have set up interviews yet. Could they still be calling this week and interviewing next week? I remember HR telling me managers would call late May to early June but with the start date being so soon it seems to be cutting it close! I know all managers have different schedules but this is driving me crazy haha

I am new to this thread but I think its a great idea. I am also a new grad currently looking for a job in the Bay Area. What I hate the most about not finding a job is all my friends saying "But isn't there a nursing shortage?" A little frustrating and makes me feel like a failure - hard to cope with being the perfectionist types that we are as nurses! Anyway, I found this website through Facebook and it lists an impressive amount of new grad programs by state and summarizes each with a link to the hospital website. For those of you who received an interview already - first of all CONGRATS! - second of all, do you know if they are only interviewing on specific days? I've heard from some other people that there are only two possible days later this month as choices for interviews. Does anyone know how many people the managers at Davis typically interview for each position?

This is driving me crazy! Did either of you have contact with your manager since your interview? It was so long ago and because I'm paranoid it makes me think they somehow forgot about my interview and if they liked me or not haha Do you know how late they interviewed? My interview was the second week of January so it makes me wonder how many people they interviewed for each spot available.

I called and asked the human resources office and then they connected me to the woman actually in charge of the Nurse Residency Program. She told me on Friday that she was starting to call people but she wouldn't be done until the end of this week. And I asked specifically if we would know either way and she said you would get an email if you were not selected. Now that I know to expect an answer this week it's driving me crazy! I'm scared to check my email haha Let me know if you hear anything! Hopefully we'll both have good news soon :)

I think they are calling this week! Supposedly you get an email if you are not offered a position and I think everyone is supposed to know by the end this Friday. I had an interview back in early January so I'm just glad the wait is almost over!

I am not from the area so I know very little about the process. I know its extremely competitive but I thought I'd apply anyway and see what happens. Thanks!

Any further information would be great! I was asked for my references the day after my interview and they were all submitted within 48 hours at the end of last week.

Hey! So I applied to the new grad nurse resident program for Summer 2013 and just heard back from the recruitment office. I have a preliminary phone interview next week and was wondering if anyone can give me any advice on what to expect. Are they just going to ask about my interests or will they get into my strengths/weaknesses and clinical type questions? Does anyone know what the rest of the application process is like assuming the phone interview goes well? How quickly do they fill their positions?

I heard that the student housing is really hard to get because it is limited and I don't want to end up in a freshman dorm because I live in an apartment now where I go to school and it would be hard to readjust to living in a dorm room haha. Is your apartment furnished? How much is rent/utilities for you? I can give you my email if you wanted to talk through that?? I read that you were on the VCU soccer team - that's awesome! I lived in Germany when I was in high school and played on my school's team and a german club team. I lived there during the 2006 world cup which was really cool too. I like finding people who play soccer because where i am now (the midwest) its not that popular.

I just got my acceptance letter in the mail today!! I live in Illinois now but my father is in the Army and he is being stationed in D.C. this summer which is why I planned on going to school in Virginia. Do you think you could ask your daughter what dorms are the best to live in if you are a nursing student? (I was thinking about Ackell, Cary and Belvidere, and Broad and Belvidere for dorm choice). Also, are there any programs for nursing students that allows them to room together? I am going to call my academic adviser on Monday to ask her a couple questions because I have never visited the campus before. Any other information from you or your daughter would be greatly appreciated!

I applied to VCU's traditional BSN program and will find out if I got accepted mid march. I thought I would be more relaxed after I actually applied but I am so nervous now because all I can do is wait! Does anyone know how they tell you if you got accepted or not? Do they only send out a letter telling you or is through email too? Also, does anyone know what a good GPA and ACT score is considered? - like what scores/GPA would give you a likely chance of getting accepted? I have no idea what my chances are and I want to have realistic expectations when that letter comes (if it comes).

I applied to VCU traditional BSN program for fall 2010 and I couldn't be more nervous! I am not from VA so I don't know a lot about the schools there or how competitive they are. Does anyone know how competitive VCU's BSN program is? I will be transferring from a four year university and had most of my pre-reqs completed by the time I filled out theapplication. What is considered a competitive GPA? What GPA would you say is the "minimum" they would consider for admissions if they like my personal statement, recommendations, and other qualifications? Also, is the school located in a safe area in Richmond? I have never been to Richmond and if I go to school there there is a good chance that I will have to live by myself. Does anyone know where a good place is to live? Should I try to find housing throught the school (if i get in)?

I am going to be moving to the DC area this summer and dont know much about the area. I am looking for schools in DC or VA that have BSN programs for students that dont already have a bachelor's degree and arent RNs - so a traditional BSN program. Are there any hospitals that have their own BSN program? I am also trying to look for schools that admit in the spring as well as the fall. Any information would be appreciated :) I am applying to Virginia Commonwealth, Old Dominion, University of Virignia, and George Mason but i dont feel comfortable just applying to those schools because every program is sooo competitive. If anyone knows anything about these schools please share. Thanks.

I am applying for the BSn program for fall 2010 and am almost done with my application. I am finishing my essay questions at the moment and am having a minor freak out. I know how much importance is placed on the essays so I am having a hard time figuring out if what I am writing is good enough. What are they looking for in the essays? Is there anything that would be considered a deal breaker in the essays? Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you!

My dad is in the Army and will be moving to Atlanta summer 2010. I am currently in college taking pre-nursing classes. I want to apply to schools in Georgia, preferably Atlanta, but I have never lived in Georgia and know nothing about the different programs there or even what schools offer programs. Are there any public schools (or even private) in or close to Atlanta that have a BSN program? Are there any hospitals that have their own BSN programs? I know all nursing schools are competitive, but any stats on admissions (like average gpa) would be greatly appreciated.

I heard that getting in to the UVA traditional BSN program was actually easier than getting in to any of the other programs at UVA...is this true? I know it is by no means easy to get in either way but somehow if this is true it makes me feel at least a little better about my chances lol. Does anyone know the average GPA of applicants accepted? I know UVA has a direct entry MSN program which is harder to get in to but how hard is it to get in to the traditional BSN program?

I am trying to transfer to a school in virginia because my dad will be moving there (he is in the army) and I need to know what kind of chance I have of getting into UVA. I have already been to the website but they don't say anything about their past GPA averages or how they go through applications. If anyone knows anything please answer!! I am also looking at transfering to James Madison University - I know I have to actually go to JMU before applying to the nursing school but does anyone know how hard it is to get into their program (as far as GPA and other important aspects of the application)? Please answer this if you can - I am so stressed about nuring schools and am trying to have a realistic expectation when it comes to getting accepted to programs.

Well I am already a sophomore at a four year university so its too late to decide to get my associates unless I wanted to waste a ton of my parent's money. And I also want to be able to go to graduate school in the future so I will need my BSN to do that. Do you know anything about JMU's bachelor's program?
