  1. Nothereyet- How long did it actually end up taking for you to get your NJ license? I believe mine is in disciplinary status as well and am curious as to how long before it will even get reviewed.
  2. I just graduated from the Middlesex County College program and I cannot say enough good things. It was a tough program, but the faculty was extremely supportive. I really felt like they cared and were invested in us. They did a great job of preparing us for NCLEX, thus far everyone I've spoken to has passed in 75 questions. Not only have they made us great test takers, but they truly taught us to function well in a clinical setting. We made BSN students from competing colleges look like they knew nothing!
  3. I do some studying on my own, reading the book, reading my notes, reading the NCLEX review. I then get together with 3 of my friends and we got hrough NCLEX questions. We ask every question out loud and we discuss why we think the answer is. We then go through the rationales and try to understand as a group what the answer is. This has been most helpful in helping me think more like a nurse. Good luck! Study groups rock
  4. I know that at my college, getting into the program is really competitive. Many of the people have prior bachelor degrees or some even higher. Many students have been waiting years to get in. What I've seen many of those students who have been unable to get in is that they've gone to different schools. Look around and see if maybe he'll have better luck elsewhere.
  5. I would think C. A person is just coming out of the PACU their LOC may not be fully with it yet considering they are still coming down off anesthesia.
  6. The same thing happened to my friends and I. I actually just got the Wii Active and it's awesome. The exercises are intense yet simple to do in my apartment. I'm all of a sudden using muscles I haven't seen in months. Lol.....I'm also doing the weight watchers diet. Good luck!
  7. Looking to start a peer mentoring program for the new class starting in the fall. Looking for advice as to what should be included? We already have senior students interested in and being members as well as incoming students interested. Please let me know what was in any of your school's programs.
  8. This is my second time around in nursing school. The first time I started, I was working full-time at Best Buy attempting to pay for as much as possible. This all worked out fine until the end of my third semester when the workload increased dramatically. As the semester continued, clinicals got longer, there were more topics covered on each test and I simply could not keep up. I ended up failing my Med-Surg I course by 3 points. This is now my second time around, I'm only working part time and my grade increased dramatically. I had more energy in clinicals, was more willing to study those extra hours, and even had time to participate in my school's nursing organizations. I'm sure some people can work full time, I'm just not that girl. My advice is, try it and see. If your grades aren't up to snuff, stop and save your school! Now that this is my second time, the time I worked almost equaled how much the class cost me to take twice. Not to mention a lost year of my life as a nurse. Hope this helps!
