Online Post-Masters PMHNP programs
OK so I have my MSN in Nursing Education from WGU. I have been a psych nurse for 9 years & have my psych Cert as well as CARN cert. I am ready to take the next & earn my PMHNP but am experiencing difficulty finding an online school that offers PMHNP post-masters certificates & does not require you to already be a NP or take GMAT/GRE. Any insight will be helpful. TIA

I just recently passed the CARN exam but have not received an official certification letter to provide to my employer. How long it normally take to receive it?

VA- The mysterious on boarding process
I applied mid April, interviewed the beginning of May and received a tentative job offer the next week. My best advice to all applicants is to make sure you have your references in order, current numbers, addresses, etc. I've been a RN for 5 years. Started off with my associates and have had my BSN for a year. I was boarded at a Nurse 2, step 3 with a starting salary of $ 70,017 for the Hampton, Virginia Veterans Hospital which really shocked me. I am very satisfied with the starting salary and look forward to working for the nation's largest healthcare provider.

Springfield hospital center and Sheppard Pratt
I too am interested in Sheppard Pratt as well as Spring grove being that I've worked as a psych RN for about 3 years. 1 year private industry, 2 years state of VA. I pretty much have the same questions as you had. Any info would be helpful

Dont wanna be a floor nurse..
I actually AM a psych RN. Have been for about 3 years at 3 different locations. I wouldn't give blind advice. An RN in psych nursing is mainly a supervisory position. You have to be able to make decisions quickly for others to implement.

Dont wanna be a floor nurse..
I would suggests you try psych nursing. It's more communication than actual work. Little to none blood and gore.

Psych nursing in MD/DC/Northern VA
I'm attending Medical Careers Institute online, so far it's gone well. Lots of busy work though but I work evenings/nights in a supervisory position so I usually have plenty of time to do my studies at work. My current job affords me the opportunity to go to school. However, with previous jobs there was no way I could work and attend school. Good luck on your endeavors

Psych nursing in MD/DC/Northern VA
I've been a psych nurse in the Hampton roads area for almost 3 years now. I have an ADN and am currently in school for my BSN. I plan on moving to the DC/MD metropolitan area in about a year. I need info on potential employers(I would like to stay in psych), expected salary, and where to live. I want to buy not rent, 2 kids and a husband in the IT field, good schools are important as well as a family friendly environment(sports league and rec). We are originally from Baltimore, DO NOT want to live there again, but would not mind working there. I'm pretty open with location. Any info would be appreciated.
