  2. Just got my packet from UAB. I got accepted to the ACNP part-time program. It's exactly what I wanted-- I'm super excited! :-D Good luck to those still waiting...
  3. Avarn, Congrats, you must be very excited! What program are you in...FNP?
  4. Oh no! I'm so sorry! I still haven't heard anything yet. I know you're disappointed, but don't give up!
  5. Thanks for the update.
  6. There are several FNPs that work with our intensivists in our ICUs. They do most of our central lines, A-lines and manage the critical care. The MDs love it b/c they don't have to be on call at night. We love it because they are nurses, and quite often, used to be ICU nurses. I say, if you KNOW you always want to do adult critical care then do ACNP. If you think you may want to get out of the hospital at some point and do more preventative care, then get the FNP. Just my opinion (I'm an ICU nurse getting my FNP).
  7. I find it odd that they are calling some people. I applied for only 2 options: FNP & ACNP but I have not heard anything by phone or mail. Not sure if that's good or bad? :-/
  8. As soon as I finished posting this I got the following email from UAB. Thought I'd share. Looks like it will be June now before we know anything. Ugh! "The MSN committee will meet mid-May to review files for fall 2012 admission. *Applicants will be notified approximately 2 weeks after the committee meetings. *Committee recommendations will be sent to applicants via letter to the current address given in your application. "
  9. Has anyone heard from UAB re their NP program for fall?
  10. RachelaleanRN2B, Did you finish and submit your essay for UAB? I looked at the MSN fact sheet and it says decisions are made 30 days after the application deadline (March 16). So, I guess it will be April before we hear something...
  11. I have not applied anywhere else, but if I don't get into UAB I will apply at Vandy. I didn't select a 3rd choice because I am only interested in either FNP or ACNP.
  12. My essay was 3-4 pages plus reference page. I know what you mean about cost. Even UAB is expensive to me. I had HOPE for my bachelor's so I'm dreading all the student loans. Fortunatel,y the hospital I work for offers tuition reimbursement -- which is minimal, but every little bit helps. I also plan to apply for any possible scholarships that may be available. Good luck on your essay!
  13. I have applied to UAB for Fall 2012. My first choice is FNP, my second choice is ACNP. I am waiting for my transcripts to be auidted so they can offically waive the GRE requirement. I have submitted everything else they require, so it's a waiting game at this point. I live in Atlanta. Where are you?
  14. FYI... I created a Group on Facebook for anyone starting the program Spring '10. The group is titled" Kennesaw State University School of Nursing, Class of 2011 (August Grads)". I thought it would be a good way to start getting to know each other, help people find roomates, carpools, etc.
  15. Hey Natalie, It came in a regular, white envelope. There were only 2 sheets of paper: the letter and the contract to sign and return. I'm so sorry to hear you didn't get in this time. I know it's a major let-down! But, don't give up. I didn't get in Fall '09 (didn't even get an interview), but I got in this time. Plus, with the new building opening next year, they will be able to take more people. Hang in there! Best wishes...
  16. I got into the traditional program for Spring '10 also. I did all my prereqs at KSU so I'm hoping to see some familiar faces. Is anyone considering taking Patho online?
  17. Does anyone know how to check our Mercer student email? I looked on bearport and blackboard and didn't see an option for email.
  18. adavis - my best friend from child hood grew up in St. Pete (Davena Lewis) and now she lives in Valrico and has been gowing to the jr. college trying to do nursing too. She hasn't been accepted anywhere yet. I was born/raised in jacksonville, FL. But, I moved to Atlanta in 1996.
  19. I was told by fin aid that they had 100 scholarships given on a first come-first served basis that gave $4,000 for juniors and $4500 seniors. Did anyone get this scholarship?
  20. Sorry, I'll be coming from Woodstock.
  21. I haven't heard from financial aid yet either. I sent in my application in May, but they didn't log it in until June 12. So, I'm at the bottom of the pile. I called last week and the lady assured me that I would be notified with enough time before classes begin. If not, I'm sure they will give us deadline extensions...
  22. I have already done mine. You can't do it until they provide you with your "bear port" Mercer ID and password so that you can log in to WebCT. Once you have that information you can go ahead and complete it. Don't forget to print your test results and mail them in.
  23. It's basically a welcome memo for the course NUR 302, which is our 1st semester clinicals. It gives a lot of information (too much to list here) about specific things we will need to purchase (books, stethoscope, Nursepak, etc.) and it talks a lot about clinicals (dates, times, locations). Etc... The website listed on the letter is not up yet. She said it would be another week or two.
  24. FYI...right now the iPhone is only $99 at AT&T...
