I agree. I didn't think it was too bad and all the professors seem very dedicated and seem to love nursing, which is great considering it is their JOB! I am glad you had a good day and good luck with the rest of week! BTW, what lab group are you in?

I am in 002 as well but opted not to do the hybrid class this semester just because I figured if I was already going to be driving out to campus for labs and 120, I might as well stay for 121 and 122!! I know (not very well) a couple of people that were in my prereq classes as well. I know how you feel, I am excited and nervous and anxious and happy all at once. I know that once it starts we won't catch our breath until December 11! We've done a lot of work to get to this point and now we can finally enjoy learning about nursing!

If you look back a page in the posts in Maryland forum, I asked a bunch of questions regarding AACC's RN program that people in the program or former students answered for me. Daria, any books that you think I might benefit from this first semester of classes that someone else hasn't already claimed would be great. I don't have any review books as it is, so anything is better than nothing. And congratulations on your passing score and working as an RN since the 21st. That is awesome! Anyway, I'll meet you wherever is easiest for you and I might be able to pick your brain a little bit more when we do meet!

Daria, How did your NCLEX exam go? And thank you again for all the advice. AACC grads/upper classmen have been GREAT! :)

For some reason I can't PM so I can't write you back but I just want you to know how awesome I think it is that you were willing to go that out of your way to write me that! Thank you so much! Daria, thank you for all the advice you gave, too! You both are great resources! Do you happen to have any books you want to get off your hands from nursing school?? We had orientation yesterday and now know the books we need to get. Let me know!

akmegs2, thank you for you response! I found out two days ago that I got in! I do have a question: what nursing shoes do you prefer for comfort, support and cleanliness (i.e., antimicrobial so they don't stink!). I have seen everything from all white sneakers to danskos to Crocs. I wouldn't want Crocs with the holes, so what do you recommend? Also, which brand white scrub pants have the most coverage and aren't easily seen through? One last thing, there is a small possibility that I may have to move 1 semester away from graduating. How easy was it for you to transfer from one NS to the next? Thanks ahead of time!

Sienna--Yeah, I am thinking that is what I am going to do because like you said, it is a lot less hassle! Thanks for all your support! :)

My husband and I talked about this because I am really worried about not having the TIME to get in my car and get to the gym because a 30 min exercise at the gym with all the time getting ready/driving is about 1.5 hrs out of my time. Anyway, our solution was to get an elliptical machine and put it right in our living room so that it is out in the open (and not hide downstairs in some basement) and it is hard to AVOID it! If you look on Ebay and Craigslist there are so good deals on used workout equipment. This way, a 30 min exercise session really only takes 30 min of your time and then you can get right back to studying! Good luck and I agree with you, snack and eat healthy and that should help you, too!

Do ya'll want to meet up at the orientation? I am planning on getting there pretty early so that I make sure I have a parking spot, get all my materials and get a front seat in the room (so I can hear everything properly!). Oh, and getting all this shot information is going to be fun; I've moved 11 different times in my life...that's a lot of hospitals!

I just found out that I got accepted to AACC's NS! I am SO excited! I wanted to post here because I wanted to get to know other ladies/gentlemen out there that will part of my class! Yep! That's me, lol, that is so weird how you can get an impression of someone through just what they type! For some reason my profile says I'm not permitted to send PMs, otherwise I would have PMed you originally! I do have a question though, when you go to Orientation after getting your acceptance letter, do you get the list of textbooks you will need? Just anything else you can tell me and all the other AACC hopefuls about Orientation, first day of classes, first semester of classes, etc. Thanks!

SiennaGreen, thank you soooo much for responding so thoroughly! You were actually one of the people I was hoping would respond to this thread. I can't wait to check out the books you recommend for summer reading and I am also glad that I know now that I'll need a PDA so I can do my shopping now. We should find out some time after Memorial Day about our status in the program and I will definitely keep you updated. Did you have APII at AMIL with Prof Aiken. I was reading some of your past posts and you sound like someone I met in that class. Thank you again!!!

I KNOW...waiting is like torture! We've had our applications in since March 15 and waiting one more day seems unthinkable! I am trying t cam down and just enjoy the days but around mail delivery time, I get all excited again. I do remember in the Orientation they said that our letters would go out "sometime around Memorial Day week." I've looked around this site and saw that last year some people didn't get their letters until the end of the first week in June...but that could have been because their application deadline was later. Anyway, I hope someone posts here who is currently in the program! Good luck!!!

I am currently awaiting AACC's decision regarding NS admission, but in the mean time I am trying to get ready as if I were already accepted. My question to any/all current students is: what do you wish you had done/someone had told you PRIOR to your first term of NS. It seems to me after browsing old threads that you don't use all the textbooks that they list for you, so which ones are mandatory and which can leave out? Also, did you find out which books you will need during the orientation over the summer? I'd like to try and start getting the necessary textbooks now. How many of you read ahead in your books and if you did, did you find it helpful? And one last question, besides books, what other materials do you need to purchase that first term of NS? Will you need uniforms, shoes, PDAs, scrubs, stethoscopes. I want to try an get an idea of how much extraneous money I will need to have. Thank you so much ahead of time for all the advice!
