  1. BSN is required for the CNN-ADN is required for the CDN.You must also have the necessary CEU's which I believe is 15 or so.
  2. You can go to the ANNA website-they have a link to the I think its the NCCNC or soemthing like that. But that is where you need to go.
  3. yes i know they love all these messages back and forth but at least we are talking business. Might want to take a vacation plans sometimes though who knows.
  4. We do actually have some very truthful docs who tell the families straight up that all we would do is prolong the inevitable and to just make them comfortable.I enjoy those docs,Then we have the 2 who want to save the world. I wonder if it would be better just to go back to the days of committees who do the deciding and relieve the families of the decision. And Medicare is getting harder and harder to satisfy."You must do this and you must do that and for God's sake dont forget to document that you saw a new gray hair in the patients head today." LOL My real email is [email protected] if you would like to email me direct.
  5. I actually have an advantage because I know each and every patient and since I do acutes I have started 99% of them on the program. The clinic wasnt that big when I started -maybe 80 at the most.A lot has happened in the last few years.Seeing older and sicker patients being started and then I have this soapbox I get on about it. I seem to have serious moral issues about starting some of them.Sometimes I wonder if it is right to put somebody on who cannot make that decision for themselves.I know about the right ot life issues, but to me there are worse things than death sometimes. Oh here I go up on it now huh?
  6. Did out patient for a long time. Our clinic is huge about 160 patients total.
  7. We have quite a few in our wilson clinic. They have an opening for a f/t PD nurse.I put in for a transfer cause acutes are sooooo stressful sometimes. I have often said if I ever have to fo dialysis-PD is what I am doing.
  8. HDCN is a cool site.Learn all kinds of things that noone either knows or forgets to tell you. I really like the PD info on there.Since I am acutes we dont do much PD .The floor nurses usually handle all that along with the patients and I have always had an interest in it since I was in tech school. They didnt really teach us a lot about it there either(in a whole year)just briefly touched on it.
  9. Have you been to the ANNA site for the free onlines?
  10. I just took the CDN in October. It was not too hard if you have been in dialysis a while. If you dont know anything about PD look it up and know something about the values of changing med doses on Calcijex and Epo.Everyone gets a different test though but I hope this helps you some. PS yes I passed
  11. I have worked for Gambro for 5 years and they are not too very bad.It is the people who make the company not the company itself.I too went to nursing school while I worked fulltime as a PCT and my manager worked very well with me. Benefits are very well comparable to anywhere else. You just either love or hate dialysis. There is no in between and the company wont make any difference in that. Good Luck to you.
