leeroijaewon I think it varies from person to person but alot of times i think the student loans and pell grant amount, if you qualify, cover the entire cost of the program. I have it set up where my payments don't start until after I graduate from the program. I pay nothing while I am in school. Hope this helps and good luck at your appt.

Hey acorne. Sonya is right. The medical stuff is the most complicated. I have already been to my doctor twice and have to go back the first of July to finish things up. If you are going to do the Hep B series you may want to get started with that ASAP. It's a series of 3 shots. Shot 1 is done now then you have to wait a month for shot 2 and then 5 months for shot 3. I assume Galen will be ok with having just shots 1 and 2 since there is no way we can have the third done before classes start. Don't worry acorne it will all work out. The financial aid appt was a breeze by the way. Hey everyone who is still on for Mike Linnings?

Hey 1stlady I asked that question at my financial aid appt and was told they have to be all white. I asked about the shox that you are talking about in paticular. I found a pair of cool Nike's, the old classic style, at Shoe Carnival for $60. They have a very thin light gray stripe in the sole that is barely noticeable. I think they will be ok.

Hey acorne I have my financial aid appt today at 2 so I will post what I find out. I did a little research on the stafford loan which seems to be the best way to go. The interest rate is around 6% and they let you extend it for 10 years if you want. From what I have read if you borrow 15k you are looking at a payment of around 180 a month for 10 years. PLEASE don't hold me to this I haven't verified it yet and I could be misunderstanding how it works. I will be more clear on it after my appt. OK everyone lets shoot for Sat. June 6th at 5 at Mike Linnings. We will see how things are looking for everyone and finalize middle of next week.:stdnrsrck:

Hey lasdrs double check that cpr date I have it down for Wednesday July 22, 5-9pm. It may be because I am doing nights (probably is). Ok everyone, now that we know we have been accepted (lasdrs you had us all holding our breath since you were the last one:eek: ) I say we have a celebration dinner. I am not sure of everyone's schedules but a Saturday afternoon / evening would work for me.

Look in your acceptance packet there are 2 forms that you need to send back. The one saying you will be attending the start date that was offered to you and there is also one for the cpr registration. I faxed both of mine in today. The financial aid packet tells you what you need to take for the appt. 2008 tax return and w-2's, there is a stafford form you have to fill out and submit online, etc.

WE TOLD YOU LASDRS!!!!!!:ancong!: Ok, I so love these smilies! The only bummer here is I am the only one attending nights:o It's ok though we all have the same goal! Hey preemiemama that's a great idea we should all try to meet up for dinner sometime. How cool would it be for all of us to meet. I am sure we are all full of excitement and anxiety at the same time.*wine So, I think everyone on this thread has gotten their acceptance letters now on to the fun stuff. I have my financial aid appt on Thursday. If all goes well with that I will concentrate on the medical stuff that we need to have done. Is anyone taking the cpr class that Galen is giving? I registered for it today.

Thanks slmcdo05 I will be happy with whatever help I can get. I just hope I can get a loan for the full amount that I will owe. We are going to have enough start up expenses. I think it is cool that you and your husband are doing this together. 1stLady let us know about those shox. I love them too.

There is so much to do and like you all I am worried about the financial part. slmcdo05 you seem to know about the pell grant and financial part of all of this. I assume the higher your EFC the less amount of money you qualify for. I have a feeling my EFC of 3908 is a little high. Do you know if there is a minimum grant amount? This can be confusing since from what I have read the EFC is what we are expected to contribute per year. If thats the case the numbers just don't add up. Also, I wouldn't worry to much about the credit aspect of the background check in this economy I am sure there are alot of people who have had credit issues. By the way THANKS for all of your input! WE WILL ALL DO GREAT!!!!

Hey Sonya, I have to attend nights since I have a full-time day job. I can't afford to give it up right now. It is going to be a busy 21 months (that's how long it takes for nights) for me but where there's a will there's a way right? I hope my EFC isn't too high to receive a pell grant. I don't think it is though. I will see when I meet with financial aid making that appt on Tuesday.

Welcome Slmcdo! Not to be nosy (well maybe a little) but when I did the financial aid app my EFC was 3908. I am a single mom with one child and make an ok income but not enough to pay this out of pocket. I think the max pell grant per year is 5200 and it sounds like thats what you got. Was your EFC close to mine? Also, good luck to you and your husband I am also going to be an older student (36). Acorne....we have so much to do! I think I am going to do the little clinic in Kroger for the convenience of it. I have a day job so running back and forth to my doctor will be hard for me. I am attending the night program since I work full-time days.

That is so cool acorne...me too!!!! There is alot of info in there. I have filled out all of the financial aid paperwork so I can call on Tuesday and make my financial aid appt. Have you thought about how you are going to handle the physical and proof of immunization. I think I may just go to the little clinic in Kroger it will be faster than my doctors office I am sure. I think I will have to have the titer test done since my immunizations are so old. I have the MMR series but not the chicken pox. I had them but can't prove it. Are you attending the day or night classes at Galen?

Hey everyone been checking out places that we could get our textbooks cheap. Every penny helps! This site seems very reasonable. I called and talked to them and she said if there is a book that we need that isn't listed on the site to call her and she can get it. I haven't ordered anything from them before so keep that in mind. http://bergware.net/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/bookshelf?/Z101321

As far as shot records I have them but they are ancient I am probably the oldest in this bunch at 36. I hope everything I need is on there. Didn't know anything about a titer test just another thing to figure out. Thanks kaylee...lol:chuckle. The waiting game is killer ladies!!!! I got a call saying I was accepted but no acceptance packet yet. I left a msg at Galen on Monday but haven't heard back yet. I hate to pester them I know they are busy. I will call this afternoon again if I don't get it in the mail. We all need a drink!

That actually made sense. Good job explaining it. The problem with me is I will be going part-time at nights so its going to take me 21 months to finish the lpn program. The EFC is based on a years time so I am not sure how that affects me or if it still works out the same. Thanks for the info!

Hey kayleeandJacob thanks for the info! On the pell grant part did you do the federal student aid application on line? I did and it gave me my EFC (estimated family contribution). Do you know if that means that amount is all that I should have to pay for the year and grants will cover the rest? Wow acorne! You have been waiting a while haven't you?
