  1. np! I'll be attending the orange county campus...ontario is too far from where I live. Good luck with your classes!
  2. Hi savedo75, np! I understand how you feel...I'm 26 and want to get my RN license before I turn 30, so it feels like a rush. The Hesi exam was pretty simple, as long as you study the guide you'll be fine, especially since there is no science portion on WCU's entrance hesi exam. make sure you know the conversation rates for the math portion - they let you use a calculator but they wont give you a conversion chart.
  3. Hi savedo75, I was suppose to start the program last month but decided to cancel my enrollment there to cram all my pre-reqs that they require at my junior college: 1. to save a LOT of money and 2. to save half a years worth of time, WCU pre-reqs take about a year because they only sign you up for about 2 or 3 classes per term, I'm taking all them of them within 2 semesters at jc, about 5-6 classes per semester. the actual cost of the program is expensive, well over 100k, i believe it is now 32k (a little over 15k per semester which includes 2 terms)? but it could have gone up. try to take your pre-reqs at junior college and transfer them over (if you've already taken one of their pre-reqs make sure its within 5 years otherwise you have to retake it). hope that helps! good luck and maybe we'll be classmates or something in jan 2011! =0
  4. I will be starting at this school next month. yes - if you have pre-reqs completed, your time with the program will shorten IF those pre-reqs are within 5years and are approved. I was only able to transfer 3 out of the 11 pre-req classes that I've already taken because they were older than 5years . it's ok though because it beats waiting....:)
  5. Thanks RN2BDFW! Got it now - that clears up everything for me!
  6. Thanks for the info!
  7. Ah..makes sense. These are in no relation to clinicals that are required of the nursing program correct? sorry, I'm new so this might a dumb question, thanks so much for your response though! :)
  8. Hello all! I will be starting nursing school this June and am thinking about applying for some externship/internships on the side. I was wondering if there is a difference between doing an internship or externship versus clinicals? With the economy the way it is, I'm really afraid that when I finish school in 3 years it might still be difficult to get an RN job, so I figured as much experience, even volunteering, to get my foot in the door should help. Any suggestion? thank you!:)
  9. I've never heard of having a 4.0 bypasses the waitlist at santa ana, but it might be possible. I think the higher your grades are = higher chance of getting in sooner? too bad for me, so I just have to wait my turn hopefully i'll be able to start spring 2010 also! This is what santa ana's website says regarding how students are chosen: "a- First-Come, First-Serve for half of the admitting class (minus half of an ECP group). b- Priority ranking system of grades in prerequisite classes for half of the admitting class (minus half of an ECP group). A= 10 points B= 5 points C= 1 point." here is the link: http://www.sac.edu/faculty_staff/academic_progs/departments/nursing/waitlist_info.htm Saddleback takes 75% of their applications based on grades and 25% based on lottery. last week i got my rejection letter stating that I'm eligible but just wasnt chosen, no space. over400 applicants and only 60 were chosen. so it's pretty competitive. hope that helps - good luck!
  10. congrats Aanderson and Amelie2006 for getting into the program and finishing the program! Thanks for the tips - I really do need to learn patience and I'll try to keep busy while I do so =). Amelie2006, will you be going straight to work as an RN? or are you planning on transferring into BSN or MSN?
  11. Thank you (both) for the info and heads up! I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
  12. Thank you so much for the info and congrats on getting in! I've been on the list for about 6 months. gpa is not very competitive so I guess I'll just have to wait. I'm applying to concordia too - hopefully I'll be accepted! Good luck and thanks again!
  13. I'm waiting to hear back from saddleback about my status =/....but the fact that its this late is not a good sign, is it? this is so depressing. with the nursing shortage you'd think schools would accept more students!
  14. Hello, I'm new to this board, and I'm desperate to get into a nursing program in orange county or la! I've been on the wait list for santa ana college since Oct08; started low 700s now moved to high 600s on their waitlist. And I've been waiting for my acceptance/rejection letter from saddleback - but still have not heard from them. Does anyone happen to have any advice or tips on these programs? About how long does one stay on the waitlist for santa ana college before they are admitted?? Any help would be really really appreciated - thank you!
