Need advice, currently in adn prog wanting to advance to bsn early
I have one year left of my adn program. I have been working full time and want to quit my job, but since I will have the smallest load yet this semester I can only justify quitting by working towards my bsn. In order to do a adn-bsn bridge I have to have actually graduated with my adn right? Can I finish the requirements for bsn at a university in addition to my adn and still receive my bsn? What is the fastest, smartest way of doing this? TIA!

Can brown colored breastmilk be normal?
I'm a student but work on L&D as a tech and have breastfed 2 kids and have never seen brown breastmilk. This is what I came across online: http://www.mother-2-mother.com/motherconcerns.htm I'm totally stumped. I would definitely ask a doc.

Who is working FT, going to school and has a family?
Well Candace, in that case, the laundry WILL fall behind, and I WON'T feel guilty Your bomb squad game sounds great!! And I do something very similiar as you do with your 'box'. My husband always wonders how I clean so fast and I just think to myself how it's all upstairs in the closet :) And I never even thought about freezing PB&J! Do any of you have any easy recipes you would like to share? Probably the easiest thing I cook is Salmon with veggies and rice. Just sprinkle some cajun seasoning on the fish and throw it on the grill. Steamfresh veggies in the microwave for 5 min and jasmine rice in the rice cooker... voila! Also, bbq chicken sandwiches. Chicken breast in the crockpot with a bottle BBQ sauce. When done shred with a fork and serve on buns. I've also heard salsa chicken is good but never cooked it. Chicken breast with a bottle of salsa in the crockpot, served on tortillas.

Who is working FT, going to school and has a family?
I am so glad you started this thread! I could really use some support from someone in the same position as myself. I know that I CAN work FT, school FT and take care of my family but I'm having a hard time imagining the time away from my kids Name: Jessica Job: Air Force contracted medic on Labor and Delivery unit, I work 3-12 hr shifts a week. Family: Dh Brad (26), Caleb (24 mo), Drew (4 mo). Dh does the same type as work as me and also goes to school 2 full days a week. He should graduate in the spring with a bach of biology and hopes to go to med school eventually. A little about your program: FT ADN program including Pharm and Micro. My schedule is Mon 8-5, Tues 6:45am-9:00 pm, Thurs 8-5 Support System: Can't say I have much of a support system but I do have a great daycare provider and family nearby if need be. Dh is pretty supportive and helpful around the house but I definitely take on the blunt of the housework and child rearing. So here is my situation. I LOVE my job- LOVE IT. I talked to them in May about working PT when I found out I got into the program and they said it wouldn't be a problem. School is a week away and they have not got a PT contract worked out for me since it is the end of the fiscal year and they can't hire anyone. I want to stay at my job for 3 reasons (actually I have 10 but I'll spare you ) 1. I love it 2. I need some supplemental income 3. I want to have my foot in the door when I graduate... but I am so worried about being away from my kids! I'll be out of the house 6 full days a week, and I'm the type of person who needs to study a lot. Anyway, Dh and I get the gi bill and combined it covers my income but there won't be much left over, so for now I have to tough it out. I'm going to try to work at least through the first month or two, hopefully they work it out so I can work PT, but either way I think it's going to be exhausting :) Anyway, I'm here for you and feel for you. I think we will do great! ETA: What are some ways you guys are getting organized? School starts for me on the 31st so over the past week I've hauled out my house. I've cleaned out the closets, garage and kitchen, it's like I'm nesting all over again :) I NEED organization in my life! I've also collected a bunch of super easy recipes to have on hand for quick dinners. It is easier cooking at home than it is to lug two kids under two into a restaurant to pick up takeout, and cheaper too! Lots of crockpot and cold meals. Our classes released the syllabus a week ago so I've been trying to read ahead. I have gotten through Ch 1-6 in pharm which is what my first exam is on Sept 21st. I'm really glad I've gotten that far in just a few days but I'm dreading that Potter and Perry book- it is sooo dry! And there is a ton of writing on just one page, I just know I'm going to have a love-hate relationship with that book!

what health insurance?
I haven't personally used this site, but a friend of mine does and recommended it to me. www.ehealthinsurance.com I like it because you can compare companies.

Should I take Pharm online?
My schedule just got all jacked up because the micro class I needed was full... so now I'm debating whether or not to take Pharm online. I have 2 kids and will be working 20hrs so I'd honestly rather take it online and I've taken online courses in the past and found them much more convenient and maybe even 'easier' than classroom, however, I'm scared of Pharm, and struggling in a class that I HAVE to do well in is less convenient than spending a few extra hours at school, kwim? I planned on taking it in the classroom until this schedule conflict. Did you take pharm online and regret it? Did you take it online and like it? Help me decide!

HELLLPP! CSN Orientation and professor questions!
Ahh! I'm so frustrated! I called 57023975 numbers today about my schedule conflict and no one helped me. I would've gone down there in person but my 224 final is wed and I'm really trying to cram. The Office of the Registrar said it was on the nursing dept to fix but no one answered or returned my calls... is this how it usually is? Anyone know why the limited entry office is closed this week? PS. Littlebugger- I totally agree with the pp that 'bad' professors to some are 'great' to others ETA: Mia70: A thread is the topic that you post too. Allnurses.com= board, Nevada nurses= forum, Hellllp!=thread and your reply is a 'post'. It is just chat board lingo. I totally agree with the nicle&diming you mentioned. I also have 2 children and although my books are covered financially (GI Bill) I hate that we are not allowed to buy them from other sources... like USED! And I personally would like the hardcopy of the book but if they are all online I don't understand why we need them physically. I hope that you find someone who would like to split the cost, it is a huge financial burden but comes with the territory I suppose. On the bright side, you'll be able to throw your children the best parties once you're racking in nursing dough

Thanks for your help, I'm sorry I hijacked your thread a little I hope that your professor ends up working out for you. Aussie Andy- Thanks for your help, I feel a lot better knowing it's not just 'me' having the problem. Guess I'll have to go Monday, bummer.

HELLLPP! CSN Orientation and professor questions!
Hey :) I was at the orientation too! I'm no help with the 'bad professor' issue, sorry. I actually wish that I did know something but I have no idea about any of them. What is your schedule? Maybe you could help me...? Were you able to register for all your classes when you got home? I can't. I'm so frustrated. It let me add the clinical and lab but no lecture or pharm...? I called a ton of numbers and no one answered. I thought they would be there until 6? Now I have to wait for Mon and I'm stressing over the pharm there is one that I NEED and am afraid it will fill up.
