LPN to RN bridge programs in the Bay Area

after many time spend and research done, the school that my wife was trying to get into was WestMed. the reason why i said was is because that school wanted high school transcripts of people that wanted to attend their LVN program. my wife didn't go to school here in the US. she had graduated from a 4 yr university overseas and has a bachelor degree in business. all her transcript was translated and notorized, but for some stubborn reason, they still wouldn't accept her. they just kept giving us the run around saying it needs to be approved, etc. when all this time, the person we are talking to could have made the decision to accept it or not. we were going to pay cash for everything, and yet, we get no love. i'm in business development, so its a work habit for me to constantly follow up and track down the answers. but that guy seems so aloof that i'm just not sure what to say. even with a 4yr bachelors degree, they still ask for my wife's high school transcript?? what the... even if we do give them her high school transcript, it would still be from overseas. does it matter?? that's something that they could not give me an answer on directly. what's worse is he can only give me a verbal acceptance, but would not put it down in black and white email. they he went about saying, you can pay for the pre-req class first and then afterward, we can see if you qualify for the program. that's asking us to pay 1K first without any firm commitment that my wife will be in their program. so, from our experience with these private school, westmed would have been our best choice, but in the end, we still can't figure out why they would take her in the program. sigh....

yeah unitek is pretty horrible. we signed up and paid for the pharmacy technician class, because they have a santa clara campus for my wife to go to. she doesn't drive on freeways, so santa clara is the closest. however, right before we signed the final document, i noticed the campus is switch to fremont. when i asked the guy, he said oh, we don't have one in the santa clara campus. ***!! i told him from the getgo that we want to go to santa clara campus, otherwise, we are not interested. and yet, during our conversations back and forth, he kept saying yes, there's classes available. we even checked with their upper management. the follow day we came back with our checkbook, they pull this stunt. so anyone going to unitek, you better check everything before you sign your name! needless to say, we go our full amount back after some direct wording with them. so even if we wanted to go LVN, we wouldn't choose that school.

well, we live near the border of morgan hill and south SJ. so, the drive up to fremont is definitely not 20 mins, trust me. not to mention the traffic on 880 northbound.. it's killer.

    Seek help for LVN schools

i'm in san jose, CA and i have been trying to find some vocational schools to attend to get my LVN degree. but here's the problem, i graduated overseas with a B.S degree from a 4yr university and even got my college transcript translated to english and notorized. however, some schools are not willing to accept that and said that i need to pay additional money for classes they offer, which was from Western Career College. i then went to WestMed College and they wanted a high school transcript or a GED. i showed them my college transcript and since then, they never got back to me. we even tried calling them countless times to get some feedback, but no answers or any specific replies to our question. eventually, it delayed us into any attemp to signup for their current class for this year; not to mentioned wasted our valuable time. as for unitek college, gosh.. i don't even know where to start. we wanted to attend the santa clara campus, which we were assured of, but when we paid, they tell us, it's not available, only available in fremont campus. that's like over 40 mins driving from where we live. that's crazy! we even asked them several times in the beginning to confirm for the santa clara and was assured of that. then on the day we are about to sign the papers, my hubby caught the campus location listed as fremont. then there's bay area college of nursing (BACN), which i've contacted and got most information over the phone. i noticed they have a campus in milpitas and san jose. i was told only san jose campus would be available. so when i called to find out information, the phone number always, i mean ALWAYS, gave me a busy tone. i had to call their palo alto branch to find out why and they couldn't give me an exact answer. sigh~ now, don't get me wrong.. but i'm sure these school are reputable in some way, but from a first hand experience, they've been nothing more than a shaddy cars sales man. i've done sales before and customer service, and none of which that i was shown was anything close to honesty. so, i'm wondering is there a site somewhere that i can find out reviews about the school before i go and invest my time away from my 1yr old baby just to be disappointed later? better yet, can the admin make a sticky on the board of all the vocational schools with LVN programs along with their requirements for faster research or feedbacks of the school? please help~~
