  1. Hi Melissa, Well I will start by saying there is light at the end of the tunnel after all! Not too long after that post, I did retake my HESI and scored well enough to bump up my points on my application. I FINALLY got into the nursing program and I'm in my second semester. As far as my points, I had an 11.51 or something close to that. It was not the lowest though. Each application period is different so its really hard to say if you have a great score or an awesome score. Its not bad at all, you still have a chance of getting in so do not give up!! If you dont get into your first choice, there is a big chance you can get into your second choice, or even put on the wait list. Some people that do get in also get into other schools and decide not to accept their offer at Lone Star. If I were you I would submit my application and just hope for the best. I tried for almost three years to get into nursing school and even though I came close to giving up, I still worked hard for it because I knew this is what I wanted to do. Good Luck with everything! Im sure you will be fine!
  2. I feel a lot better knowing that we are using the same book. I did purchase a calculations book from ecampus.com (I think) which is where I bought my Pharm book. Maybe we will go into depth with that when the program starts. On another note, I did notice I am on the FB page, oops! Seems like time is starting to fly by now that orientation is getting closer.
  3. Kaybee- Are you taking it with Loftin? And yes, it is A LOT of reading. Lilag- I am nervous because we are not doing abbreviations or conversions. All we have done is read, read, read, and answer some discussion questions. We only have weekly quizes, no tests or final exam. I guess it is a good thing, but I am more concerned about being able to use what I learn when I get out in the field. I want to make sure I know how to calculate a dose and what a certain abbreviation stands for. Oh well, guess I will have to do some research on my own when the class is over. What book are yall using? And as far as the schedule, I am aiming for the afternoon classes so that I can work my mornings. We shall see how long that lasts!
  4. Hey yall!! Its been a little while since I have posted on here, but I have a couple of questions. 1. What is this FB group everyone is talking about? What name do I need to search for? 2. Is there anyone else taking Pharm this summer? I started last week online through Kingwood and there was only one chapter on dosage... Uhm I think I will need a bit more practice! Am I in the wrong one??? Hope everyone's 'break' is going well! Candice
  5. Does anyone know what our schedule is going to be like? I have seen, on other threads, people have mentioned the schedule is up for their campuses. But, I have not seen (or else I am looking in the wrong place for it) anything on our campus schedule. Any help is appreciated! Candice
  6. I am in the waiting boat too! I will just wait for the letter myself. You never know....
  7. My score was 11.513 for Cy-Fair. If you need any help or advice just ask. Good luck on your application!
  8. Aww ya'll are sweet for the support. But I still have not heard anything. I just dont have the "I got in" feeling like I did with Cy-Fair. And, like ya'll, I have planned on attending Cy-Fair for the past couple of years. I went out on a limb and applied to UT not thinking anything of it. But when I got an interview I freaked out!! I know that I was at least able to beat out the 1500+ students that applied and didnt even get an interview. UT would have been good, but I am perfectly content with my acceptance Besides I have yet to see an RN with their school of graduation attached to their neck. All says is (Your name here) RN!! I am getting excited now :) Its FINALLY Starting to sink in...
  9. Thought I would share some information! I just received my 2nd vaccination. I was told that the plan is as follows: After the first injection you wait one month for the second. After the second injection wait 3-4 months. So basically six months after the first injection, and it would be ok to move it up by a couple of weeks. I was also told by K. Monteiro (spelling) as long as we have completed the series by the start of the program we would be ok! Hope this helps :) Candice
  10. I am going to wait until the end of the week to submit my letter of intent. I am still waiting on UT to give me a yes or no. Although I do not have the 'gut feeling' I got in there like I did with Cy-Fair. I knew this was my year and honestly any one is great! I have not heard of the Hep B/A vaccine? I was told when I was given my first injection that it would be six weeks after that for my 2nd, and then six weeks after that for my 3rd. All I asked for was the Hep B vaccination for Nursing School and my doctor said 'Ok, be right back'. She never questioned anything. Maybe I should have asked questions, but honestly I did not know there was more than one. Its like the Flu vaccine to me, you ask for that and thats what you get. Right??
  11. Ok Now Im getting nervous! I have not seen an update in either section. I hope it lets us know something tomorrow as well. I did apply to Lone Star and got in there:yeah:. But UT is still my first choice...
  12. Thanks for the help! I was so busy at work today with chemos I could not get a break to call the Nursing dept. Before I knew it, it was time to head home! But you know that is exactly what I read on the website, completed by July 1st. So of course I freaked when out letter stated different. I knew starting it in Feb would give me plenty of time to complete the series. Ok, well like you, I am also going to inquire about speeding my last injection up.
  13. Thanks for the help. I think I am going to have to call since I work and live a little farther out. I have my second shot scheduled for early next week. I started them on Feb 23, my birthday present to myself :). As far as the CPR class, I am going to go ahead and take it with my brother who is attending the Fire Science program at Cy-fair. I am probably going to search for something around our area, near Memorial City. It would be fun to meet before orientation. Maybe we can arrange something. And if I have this correct, we can take Pharm at any other Lone Star campus? Just not Cy-Fair? It is a bit confusing.
  14. Hey Ya'll. I thought I would join this thread to get to know everyone and also for some helpful advice. I am worried that my Hep B vaccine will not be completed in time. I am due for my second shot this week and I do not think I will have the third one by the May 1st deadline. Did I read that correctly? I noticed the other campuses gave a July 1st deadline for their vaccinations. Is anyone going to take a CPR class soon?
  15. Two things: 1) If anyone has started a 'Cy-Fair 2010' thread could you post/send the link please? 2) I know when I was getting ready to apply to a nursing program this website helped me tremendously!! If there are any lurkers who have questions or need some help, I am willing to give as much info as I can. I will say this, You DO NOT need all A's in the three pre'reqs. I had an A in both psych and english, but in my A&P I had a B. My credit hours were my 4pts and my HESI reading was a 97.831 or something similar to that which gave me higher points as well. It is good to have the A's of course, but it is also possible to be admitted with one B. Good luck to all future applicants.
