  1. Yes, I was accepted through this route but most people are accepted through IUON. I haven't decided if I am going yet bc I got into another program in New York. I don't want to be on the Island for more than 2 semesters either.
  2. I feel your pain Although I am happy that I finally go accepted into a BSN program, I am still in denial about the biggest move of my life so far. I am moving from the Bay Area (Northern CA) to New Yprk this August!
  3. The is the first post I have seen on this school so I am relieved. I just got accepted on Thursday. Is your cousin a transfer student or a freshmen? I live in CA so I am trying to find out more about this school, the program, and the environment in general. Thanks!
  4. Wow, it's good to know I am not the only person on this site that was accepted. I was beginning to get a little concerned about the merrit and reputation of the school/program. Which program where you accepted into? I too, had similar experiences with the registrar's office today. I just wanted to know when they would evaluate my transcripts but I never got a sure date, they just said to call back on Friday.
  5. :up:I just got my phone call on Friday that I was accepted into the BSN program and was wondering if there are others out there who have been accepted as well.
  6. Thanks, and Good Luck with Samuel Merritt!
  7. No updates yet since the initial letter I received last month. It stated that I was placed on a "short wait list" but it did not say what number I was but that I would be notified if some spots open up before the start of the semester in August. I called him last week and he said that he would send out a letter sometime in July letting all of the students on the wait list know their status. What about you, are you on the wait list as well and if so, have you heard any updates?
  8. Wow, thank you again and again for all your help and info. I will definitely use you as a reference during my interview. My email is [email protected]. I think it will be easier to keep in touch that way. Thanks again!
  9. I actually haven't interviewed yet, I attended an info session one week ago. I heard about IUON during my non-stop online search for nursing programs w/ little to no waitlist. All I've done is apply and I barely got my transcripts so im sending them in this week for evaluation. I too, got my BS in Healthcare Management and one of my sciences expires at the end of this year but they said I'm good as long as I start this fall. Thanks for the apartment info. I am curious, what phone company do you have and does it work out there? Im with AT & T and just found out that I would have to pay the international rate per minute to use it out there. I know they mentioned that the housing through IUON or the apartments are furnished. I wonder if they come with a house phone by any chance?
  10. I also called them today and left a message. I guess we'll just keep on trying to get through and post any updates if we get in touch with the admissions person.
  11. I am going the BSN track and already have my B.S in the health field, so I have all my classes done except for Pharmacology, fundamentals, and other nursing related classes. I am told that I may only be on the Island for one semester since I have so many courses completed but they have not started to review my transcript yet. If this is the case (being on the Island for 1 semester), then I definitely don't want a roommate bc I wouldn't want to leave them to pay the rent after I leave. That's why I would prefer a one bedroom. Also, so you said Camps is the very close (and decent) area by the school? Lastly, did you have to take the TEAS right after you got there? I was told that that's their procedure for IUON. Thanks againg for the info, I was so confused w/ all the questions I had before
  12. "nope..actually I'm a 4/5th semester student ( but been here on the island for 2 semesters already). I'm just giving any information students may need to know when they arrive here or if I can try to recruit other students here =P ( I apologize if that sounds a bit deceiving). Is there anything you like to ask or know about St Kitts?? Just to advise you, food here is somewhat expensive - depending on what you are looking for, so pack any goods you think you may not find here or think it is overpriced. Be sure to find housing in areas like Mattingly or Camps (within walking distance from school), Bird Rock you will need a car". Wow, thanks for the heads up. If you don't mind me asking, are you doing the BSN or the ADN track and how much longer do you anticipate being on the Island? I will not have a car while I'm there, so my plan was definitely to live as close by the school as possible. How much is the average decent 1 bedroom apartment nearby the school?
  13. "Hey Baca...Are you coming into IUON in the month of Sept 2009?? Mind if I ask what state you are coming from??" Yes, I am planning on attending this fall semester so I'm going to St. Kitts in the beginning of September. I live the Bay Area (CA). What about you? Are you attending this fall as well?
  14. Hi all, I was actually wait-listed for this fall which I am still hurt about and was wondering who here was accepted? If so, have you turned in your acceptance letter or are you going to attend elsewhere? I'm just trying to get a slight idea to see if I even have a chance (which I doubt). All I can do now is keep praying :bowingpurthat someone finds a different program that is more suitable for them so I can have a chance on my journey to a nursing career

  16. "For just the BSN program, you need a SAT of at least 900 (math and verbal only) or 19 on the ACT, 80 percent high school average, Upper half of class. BUT you can be admitted on a discretionary basis. If you are a transfer you need a 2.5 gpa. If you don't meet that criteria, I am pretty sure they will still accept you into the school and you should be able to change majors after your first year. They are really helpful so you should give them a call. I would call about accepting applications for the fall, I am not quite sure about that, I would call Monday to see, especially if you meet or are above those limits because they might be able to fast track you application". Thank you, I will give them a call on Monday. I actually have my B.S Degree, but I don't think they have a second degree option so I'm interested in the regular BSN. I guess I will have to start as a transfer student because I have all my pre-reqs and more done. Thanks again!
  17. I went on the school's nursing website but did not see anything about admission requirements, etc. Any advive of where I can get such info or can you tell me anything you know. Also, are they still accepting applications for fall 2009? Thanks again!
  18. Thank you so much for the info! That was really kind on you to not only share with us but to get the thread started. I will def check out your school.
  19. Thank you so much for the detailed advice and info missynurse! Your curent posts are probably one of the most helpful ones I've read so far regarding IUON. Is it okay to ask you further questions/advice as I move along with the process? Thanks Again!
  20. Wow, thanks for the info. If you don't mind me asking, what's the name of the school and what city is it in? Thanks again!
  21. To be honest, we're in the same boat...I have so many questions and concerns. Any advice out there is appreciated :loveya:
  22. I'm considering the LA College option. The only thing is that I already have a Bachelor Degree and therefore will not qualify for any grants, etc (only scholarships if I can get any). Where are you all in the process? Have you been admitted for fall, interview, testing, loans, etc?
  23. Hi Missynurse! CONGRATS on finishing sucessfully and passing the NCLEX(especially on the first attempt) :yeah:Did you do the BSN track? If so, which partner school did you transfer to in the states? Were you able to transfer over up to 42 units as they mentioned on their site? Also How many semesters did you spent at St. Kitts and also at the U.S Partner school. Lastly, How much all together would you recommend to take out in loans and how much did you actually spend? Sorry for all the Q's...I just applied for Fall 09 and want to make sure I am making the right decision . Thanks!
  24. Hi, I'm not sure if you are still reading this thread but I have lots of questions and concerns about attending IUON in Fall 2009. I hope you are still reading this thread
  25. Hi, I just attended an info session the other day and I am enthused about possibly attending IUON in fall 09. I applied already, just waiting for transcripts in the mail, then send it off to be evaluated, then everthing will hopefully fall in place. Do any of you have an idea of a ballpark figure of total program cost (with the 42 transferable units so hopefully a year and a half total), housing, food, etc will cost? Any suggestions are helpful!
