  1. it's official! me too!
  2. swwwwweeeeeeeetttt!!!!! wait...did you get commissioned and get all your paperwork and everything already? I'm still waiting *sigh* my recruiter said I probably won't receive my official orders until the beginning of January...
  3. i was under the impression that people were judged by their character, not their appearance..but I'm not in the military so I wouldn't know. To besides, no one can judge ME but God so hey! either way...to each their own. as long as people are kind to one another, willing to help each other and not purposefully trying to bring others down, that's what really counts. have a blessed day! :)
  4. i passed that message thinking she would be upset at your sarcasm and hoping she would have a witty response for you but her professionalism refused to give me, or you, the satisfaction. Hence her reply: "Thanks!"
  5. The OP is a female and she's currently in the USN with her locs.
  6. Thanks for this! There's no USA Swimming clubs out here in Nevada but I found a recreation center nearby and signed up for their swimming lessons! I'm nervous, but excited...hopefully this will build my confidence to relax in the water! :)
  7. OMG Kelsy I'm afraid of jumping miles off the diving board!!! I'm afraid of using my clothes as a floating device, I'm afraid of not making the passing time to swim the length of the pool, and I'm afraid of floating prone!!!! Moani I'm with you! who floats prone?!!?!?!? OMG so yea I've been trying to learn how to swim and hopefully I'm somewhat decent by the time ODS comes around. People on the FB thread I started on the Navy page have said it's not TOO bad and they're really helpful with showing you how to do all the steps...but I'm TERRIFIED of water (crazy cuz I'm from the Caribbean:chuckle ) and it don't matter how much times you show me nothing that got to do with water...I'm still gonna be TERRIFIED! Imma jus pray! lol @Cumberland40, I tried to reply to your PM but it wouldn't let me...let me know if u prefer to use ur personal email. My detailer told me he could get me in the Jan 31 ODS class so as of now that's what I'm aiming for. If you all don't know who your detailer is, call Mrs. Smith and she can tell you...here's her info Frances R. Smith, RN, MSN CDR, NC, USN (ret.) Registrar Health Professions Scholarship Program Navy Medicine Manpower, Personnel, Training and Education Command (NAVMED MPT&E) 8901 Wisconsin Ave, Bethesda, MD 20889-5611 Office: (301) 319-4526/DSN: 285-4526 Fax: (301) 319-4122 E-mail: [email protected] she is the NICEST woman and very helpful! I've never had a problem reaching her and she's pretty good at responding to emails. Kelsy I'm not sure if she's who you would speak to since you didn't go thru NCP, but she may know somebody that knows somebody! :)
  8. yea that site is uber helpful!!!! what's your name? if all goes as planned we may end up in the same ODS class! I am EXTREMELY AFRAID of the swimming part!!!! just thinking about it freaks me out!
  9. there is sooooooooo much info on here about ODS girl....do a search and you'll find tips on things from what to bring to what to expect to how to prepare!!! I've learned so much jus from reading all the forums!
  10. He was actually very helpful and even had a sense of humor. In the back of my mind though I'm still like I WANT EVERYTHING ON PAPER!!!! lol I'm going to school in Vegas...what about you? I'm Telly! nice to meetcha! :)
  11. I have a serious case of senioritis too!!! how about I'm replying to you while sitting in class! I'm just soooo ready to be done! lol I hope everything works out with your stationing...I've read that they do try their best to keep couples together. I had to contact my detailer and I HOUNDED him so be persistent. I'm not sure if we all have the same detailer or not tho...mine is LCDR Palmer. I think they're assigned by region :-/
  12. yea I suggest calling immediately because they say we're supposed to get our orders two months prior to graduation, so if you're graduating in Dec....i say call them NOW!!! u already sent in your duty preference sheet right? I would like to take the NCLEX in December since my official graduation date is nov 9 (the ceremony is in dec) so hopefully that works out! what about you?
  13. I'm in the NCP (Nurse Candidate Program) and will be graduating from nursing school at the end of the year and wanted to know if anyone has heard anything about when they're supposed to be leaving for ODS in Rhode Island. Also, has anyone gotten their orders yet from your detailer? I spoke with my detailer today and he said he could get me into my first pick (San Diego) and that I could go to ODS at the end of January...
