BCIT Aug 2010/ Jan 2011
Hi there, has anyone completed their CPR-hcp requirement yet? I'm going in tomorrow for the class. I've been told that there is an exam at the end of the 8-hr lesson, but wasn't told the format. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the format. I'm extremely nervous about this test because I don't feel like I've prepared sufficiently Thanks!

BCIT Aug 2010/ Jan 2011
Hi nursingprogram1, I have a feeling that they'll call you after May 4th because that's the deadline to pay the committment fee for reserving seats.

BCIT Aug 2010/ Jan 2011
Thanks for the fast reply jasn! In fact, I just checked and I have received all the information I need. I could finally focus on my exams and graduation instead of checking my status every other hour lol! It feels good to know that I've made it as I've been trying to get into nursing in the last 3 years!!! :) srama, maybe they send out acceptance letters in batches. :: crossing my fingers for you :: x)

BCIT Aug 2010/ Jan 2011
Just checked my application status... Provisional Acceptance xDDDDDDDDD I thought that they would send me an email in addition to changing my status on my account. Perhaps a letter is on its way... What to do next? A little confused! I thought there is something called the commitment fee that we have to pay immediately upon acceptance. Does anyone know the deadline to pay? Thanks!

BCIT Aug 2010/ Jan 2011
I was wondering if anyone who is already in the program could post their stats (GPA, work/volunteer experiences, what kind of health-related experiences, how many times applied before being accepted etc, etc) so I could use as a reference of comparisions. That's highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!! :) Also, BCIT said that we should hear back before 4/30. Based on your experience, is it really the last week of April? Anyone know how early do they start sending out acceptance letter?

Langara College, Vancouver: Nursing Students
Hi jd8_lakers, I applied some time around Oct 2009 for the September 2010 intake, and heard back Jan. 2010 that my anticipated intake would be Sept 2013 (I forgot exactly when I was placed on the waitlist... I would say some time in November ). Received another letter last week saying that the Sept 2011 is also full , but my anticipated intake has been moved up to Sept 2012. So that's a big jump for me!

Langara College, Vancouver: Nursing Students
Even though I still have to wait a little while, I finally moved up the waitlist from Sept 2013 to Sept 2012~ That's one WHOLE year! Horray! Anybody heard back yet?

Langara College, Vancouver: Nursing Students
My anticipated start date is Sept. 2013... So it's a 3-yr wait for me. I'm finishing up my first degree this May. Hopefully, I'll get into nursing school elsewhere... I've applied for several schools.

Langara College, Vancouver: Nursing Students
Ohhh no! >. But I'm sure that if you're already 28-29 on the waitlist, it should be your turn very soon! Don't give up :) Also, does anyone what the current status of the langara nursing program is? Did langara start to accept applications again?

Langara College, Vancouver: Nursing Students
When I checked my application status in early Feb, it said rollover. But when I checked today, it's backed to waitlisted. I submited my application in October, so I'm no way near the two-yr waitlist lol.

Langara College, Vancouver: Nursing Students
So the difference between Waitlist Rollover and Waitlisted for Career Program is that those with rollover status should be expected in start in the subsequent term while those with waitlisted status should continue to wait? Thanks!

BCIT Aug 2010/ Jan 2011
Can someone explain a bit about the shortlisting? Is that not the same thing as waitlisting? I've read on another forum that someone was shortlisted for Aug session and will guarantee a seat for the Jan session. Isn't that technically keeping a waitlist? ::

BCIT August 2008/january 2009 Entry
Thanks jasn! This is really helpful! I was so worried that I would have to wait until June or July to hear back. That's a relief! oooo and what about the interview? When is it usually held? Thanks again!

BCIT August 2008/january 2009 Entry
I applied for the August intake this year. Will someone inform me when I should expect to hear from BCIT? The earliest and/or the latest? Thanks a bunch!

UBC Okanagan
Thanks akardan. I was wondering if anyone could let me know when UBC-O notify you that you're accepted into the program? The earliest and the latest? I'm in such a dilemma right now. An admission staff told me that priority is given to students who have listed UBC-O as their first choice. This would leave me with UBC-V as a second choice. But the problem is that UBC-V probably has an earlier decision date? Any suggestions/inputs would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

UBC Okanagan
Thank you so much akardan. By any chance, would you be able to tell me the proportion of degree holders and transfer students in your undergraduate class? I would say the the majority of the students are directly from high school. THanks again!

UBC Okanagan
I'm finishing up my first bachelor degree this coming April, but I'm very nervous about not being accepted anywhere next year. It seems like UBCO admits student based on their average and there is no interview. And my average, after going through 4 years of university, is definitely no where higher than high school students I suppose (those high 90's and high 80's feel so far away lol). Has anyone applied to Okanagan as a degree holder? Will you able to tell a bit about how the application process works for UBCO? Any essay or application profile? Admission decision is 100% GPA/grade-based? They won't consider whether I have volunteering or work experience? Oh no! Thanks a bunch!

We could ask where we are on the waitlist?

University of Calgary BNRT program
Thanks! But oh mine~ that's news to me. That really sounds competitive now... at least academically. I think I better apply for more schools as well.
-
University of Calgary BNRT program
Thank you so much. So admission is based on average only? There's no interview either?
-
University of Calgary BNRT program
Does anyone know if there's an essay required for application to the U of Calgary BNRT program? The other nursing schools I'm applying for all have an essay/resume/questions component to it. The nursing page didn't specify it and neither did the students center on the myUofC page. Thanks in advance!

Immunization Record
Hi, I noticed that almost all the nursing schools required the submission of an immunization record to complete the admission. Can anyone tell me where/how to obtain one? Are they looking for a photocopy or an official document? I grew up in the states, so I have this little yellow card that basically had record all the immunization I've had. The secretary at my doctor's office told me that all I need is to photocopy the card, but it didn't sound too convincing. I have no idea where to start looking. Pls help! I'm from BC if that helps... hehehe Thanks in advance!

BCIT August 2008/january 2009 Entry
Hey everyone, I'm interested in applying for the program. But I have a few questions. I'm not sure if the process have changed much since 2008, but I'll give it a shot! 1) Is it really a MUST to have a car/be able to drive? Did bcit verify that somehow? What if I have someone who's able to drive me around? 2) Can you tell me a bit about the interview? 3) When are admission decisions made by? I assumed that you won't find out until some time around May? THank you so much!
