Accepted into LaGuardia 2010
hi honest...i don't have private messaging priveledges yet...i haven't posted enough quality responses to posts...:-( I was originally told there were 100 seats and that the extra 20 seats depended on the hiring of an additional staff member. After about a month or so...up until last week...I was told 120. I was also told that after ranking occurs...seats are lost to students accepted but who are not citizens or residents. The LPN secretary told me that. She said 6-7 seats open up for that reason every year. so if 265 applied (she told me 265 applied) minus 70 for incomplete prereqs and minus another 6-7 for citizenship reasons, the total amt of ppl we're up against is 219-220. I ended with a C in AP1 which killed my GPA. As soon as I got my grade I went to the nursing dept and the lpn secretary told me i still had a really good chance. she said lots of ppl apply with 2.5-2.7 thinking they'll get in bc the handbook says you needa 2.5 to get in. she also said some ppl don't even go to the nursing dept to find out how this process goes...they just apply and assume they'll get in bcthey have a 2.5...which we both know is not very smart. I was going to apply to another school as a back up but have put it on hold ... monroe accepts applications until late in the summer as long as you have your prereqs. If I do not get in, I will take micro in the fall then transfer toa 4 yr RN program...I already have a good amount of it done. What r ur plans if u don't get in? I'm preparing myself for the worst just so I won't fall into a deep depression if I do not get in. We've been working so hard that not getting in could ruin us! Either way, I WILL BE A NURSE.

Accepted into LaGuardia 2010
Hey Honest! Good luck...to think...this time next week we will know whether we're in or not! I'm soooo nervous. I actually do not feel very confident ... Seems to me we've applied with a very strong pool of applicants. Everyone knows what's needed to get in and everyone is smart and on top of their game. I wish they would've mailed acceptance / denial letters home to the applicants. I think I will pick up my letter and bring it home to open it with family...or better yet by myself. No matter what happens, I know I've worked very hard and I'm proud of myself for getting this far. I'm proud of you too! I know what you've been through :-0) Good luck next wednesday and let's keep in contact.

LaGuardia's Nursing program
3.0 now will not cut it...wish it did though :-) Going into the Nursing Office with a key-course average of 3.0 gets you a blank stare from the secretary.

Bronx CC and laguardia CC LPN program
Im at LACGG right now...hoping to be accepted into the 2010 LPN program...after speaking with the folks in the nursing dept ... they're advising LPN candidates have at least a 3.2. They will be admitting 100-120 students for the fall progra - dont' know why it's not a fixed # - that's driving me crazy - what if im # 101? anyway. They RN program at LAGCC is asking 3.8 and better. After attending all the nursing workshops and talking to the nursing professors, it's obvious that since LAGCC has changed their LPN program from 3 semesters to 2 semesters, it has become as competitive, if not perhaps a bit more competitive as the RN program...entering in September know that if all goes well you'll be an LPN in less than a year is pretty exciting and a little hard to pass up. I am waiting for my letter ... said to be mailed out on July 7th. Cross your fingers for me...my gpa now is a 4.0 but with the class im taking now it's going to drop to about a 3.4. Good luck in which ever school and program u choose.

any lpns care to share the cutoff gpa's for entry to their programs?
applied for lpn candidacy...having a hard time in AP ... about to wrap it up in 2 weeks...all other classes are A's. with what i think i will ge in AP, my gpa will b around 3.4 i attend laguardia and the folks in the nursing office dot give too much info away...they just tell me...for hundreds of times i go in and try to find out...that to get into the program u need at least a 2.5. blah blah blah... i know the cuttoff for the rn program at laguardia last semester was a 3.8...and all know about the lpn cutoff was that it was significantly lower that the rn cutoff ... but dont know by how much. lpns and lpns to be - what was the cutoff in ur school?
