  1. I just got accepted into LAGCC's RN program (A.S.)for spring 2010. My GPA 3.91 and got B+ in anatomy This years cut off for RN was 3.87 So yah a 3.82 was rejected and put on waiting list. (numbers may change a bit cuz I have to confirm with Nursing dept over the next few weeks -yes stuff happens to people) LPN usually is 3.5 ish I will confirm. Ya ya I know broschure and website says 2.75 minimum or something but you don't stand a chance if your GPA isn't at least 3.8 for RN and 3.5 for LPN. Why? there's like 500+ applicants for 60 slots every year. Tip: taking more than the required 4 classes means you build a safety cushion should you get like a B+ in one of the key classes. Tip: take 1 class at a time and get A in all 4 key classes and apply but then you'd be unprepared for the fast paced and hard nursing classes. but hey u do what you gotta do. Required preclinical classes: KEY 4 - can apply with these 4 English 101 (key) Chemistry (key) Anatomy & Physilogy 1 (key) General Pyschology (key) Required not key but you can take to up gpa. (This saved my ass) Medical dosage, anatomy 2, english 102, urban sociology, developmental pyschology, microbiology School and professors are decent, has free tutoring but good advisors are few and there's a line for them. I once waited 2.5 hours to see a nursing advisor and as a "pre" nursing student you're low priority. once you get in you'll get tons of support but your best friend is the student handbook and nursing handbook read it and the fine print too so you know what you need to do. Dont just depend on advisors cuz they're overworked and understaffed and might forget to tell you something Well good luck. I hope this info helps people if they're trying to decide something or another. Feel free to post questions about LAGCC i'll try to answer em. Heck feel free to post if you go in here too and your GPA Ella
