I'm in the University of Rochester's accelerated nursing program. I know they don't just base their acceptance on grades because I applied with a sociology major with only so-so grades, but I worked in a hospital for 2 years and I had a really good interview. Grades are important, but they're not everything. A person's ambition to be in the nursing profession counts for a lot.

I didn't have the best grades ever either and I was deathly afraid of not getting in to a nursing program. I finally realized that you just have to put yourself out there. If you don't apply you'll never know, so I say give it a shot! It worked out for me.

Hey, so I just arrived in town from Seattle. Boy, that was a long drive! Now all I have to do is find an apartment. So far I looked at a couple advertised on craigslist and quickly realized that when they say "one bedroom/studio" it means you better not be claustrophobic. It looks like tomorrow will be a long day of apartment hunting for me!

Thanks for the heads up on filing the 2007/2008 fafsa. I really think they should have told everyone to do that in the first place. Now that I have that out of the way I called the financial aid office and they basically told me that I should go ahead and apply for any private loans I'll need. If I knew I could have applied for them at any time, I would have a long time ago. Sheesh... Anyway, thanks for all the helpful tips!

Hey Lvu333 it's nice to know I'm not the only one coming from the west coast (Seattle). I'm in the same boat you are. I'm finding it hard to find a place to stay that's near the school, is cheap and looks nice. There are lots of possibilities on craigslist and the Rochester apartment listings, I would just feel better seeing the apartments in person. I plan to make the 4 day trek leaving April 24th and will hopefully find something soon after I get there. The only thing that's really freaking me out is how to pay for tuition/living expenses. Do you know how long it takes to get a loan and actually have the money in hand?

Hey Alli, I don't think I'm allowed to send a PM yet, but I would like some more info on the living situation you have going on. If you want to send me your e-mail address or just keep sending PM's that would be great. I'm still waiting to hear back about the scholarships too. I called the school a week ago and they said I was too early for that kind of stuff. Does anyone know how long it takes to get a private loan? The financial aid office told me it should be relatively easy, but I have about 5 weeks before I make the big move and I kind of need to plan ahead.

I most definetly will be attending...although I'm a little iffy on how to pay for it.

I also got in! Does anyone have some advise on where to live? I have to somehow move myself all the way from Seattle and I'm feelin' pretty apprehensive about it. I feel like time is just flying by!
