Erwin LPN program
You are going to do the TABE or the TEAS test as the TABE doesn't have science on it. THe TABE math was really easy but the TEAS math was a bit of a mind boggler...however, i would focus on the science preparation for the TEAS..that's what will get you in! I only studied about a week and a half and passed the TABE because we were only given 3 weeks to study it because we were the first nursing class to have to take it so...you can do it!

pharmacology and nursing math
that is awesome! i am working right now to get all my conversions in my head and mind! heheh so this is what i have learned thus far and I guess everyone learns differently. for mass/mass conversions i do this ordered/have(on hand)= y or desired dose for my mass/liquid conversions i do: ordered/have multiplied by volume per have then I have been learning how many teaspoons, drops, ect what kindof math do you learn in the LPN program and, has it been difficult for yout o keep up with the program?

Erwin LPN program
Well, it might be better to extend the time because from what I hear it really is a fast paced program and it would give you time to learn and absorb all the info correctly! Think about it hard before forfeiting your acceptance...if that becomes an option because you really have a 'chosen' seat...many are looking to get and be where you are! I'm exctied but quite scared because it is so fast paced but, I will study long and hard to make sure I am learning and retaining That is the key!

TEAS EXAM: I failed...Anyone take it with some advice?
Great job! I wish you luck and hope that you will be able to begin school August 2010! I can keep you updated with how things are in the program. I begin this Fall. We were the 'guinea pigs' of the TEAS exam so.....I do know they will be using the exam throughout nursing school, almost like a benchmark so continue to study it!

Erwin LPN program
I'm going to begin reviewing my math-metric fractions, ect. I want to be as prepared as I can for school! Do you know anything about an entrance exam of 3 dollars the day or registratioin/orientation? what is that about?
-
Erwin LPN program
Oh I see. Well, those who were looking to get into the night class are now able to apply for the 2010. I think the challenge would be for those seeking night classes is the competition because so many want night classes. All in all it's competitive anywhere you try to go. I just figured the LPN is a start for me and I can move forward when I finish. They say the program is quite fast so, we will have to keep on our toes!

Erwin LPN program
how many people actually took the TEAS exam? I know that originally there were like 560 or 565 applicants.....
-
Erwin LPN program
yep I willl def keep ya'll posted! I got a 74.5% overall......so we both fell into almost the same percentile. It's scary to imagine how everyone else did because 70 is passing but my the inch of the nail! I'm grateful I did though. If we had like 3 months to study for it instead of 3 weeks, we would have blown the test out of the water! Now, one thing i will begin to do isbuy an actual teas study guide. I never bought a study guide and was surprised i passed! They will be using the TEAS exam throughout the program as you recall so lets begin studying it more in deby! Most schools use the HESI but they will use portions of the TEAS each semester I believe.

NewGoal RN did your daughter find out anything yet?

Does Erwin Tech still use the lottery system?
Yes they still use the lottery system. With the TEAS exams they will probably take the top 80%. I took the TEAS and passed, the math and science are tricky...I would go with studying from the actual TEAS guide found on ATI because it gets your mind thinking in the exact form of the test. THe reading comp and language is a cinch so...focus on the science and math. I passed the exam (according to my school) and got accepted into Erwin's Aug 2009 class....I would say focus only on math and science and you will do great! Now, for the nursing program starting 2009 and on they will use the TEAS as kindof like benchmark testing throughout the program...so it will be good to know the form of the test inside and out! I think it will be used kindof like the HESI that HCC uses.

Erwin LPN program
Hey Guys! I am glad I found you here! I recognize NewGoal from HCC's forum! I got my acceptance to Erwin and got my first choice, August 09, how in the world did that happen? I think the teas must have screwed many people over! However, I'm glad that each one of us will be starting Erwin's program at one time or another! Good luck! I hear the program is quite rigorous but phenominal!

TEAS EXAM: I failed...Anyone take it with some advice?
I am taking the test tomorrow ladies. Ahhhhhhhhhhh! So scared but, at the same time I have this peaceful feeling and know that either way things will work out! I haven't anatomy in like 4 yrs and remember nothing but, I still am happy! I tried to do some reviewing but it's just not sticking! I hope that everything just weighs out accordingly! I'm excited to see what it will be like. Wish me luck!

TEAS EXAM: I failed...Anyone take it with some advice?
Thanks for all of your advice! Yeah, I guess the key when taking timed test is to look at the least obvious answers, then the more obvious answers and narrow things down to two choices. Now, in regards to the math portion of the test, are there lots of word problems or per se, 25+89= 25% of a number + stuff like that? See I have this mental thing with word problems! I don't know why but I tend to not freak out when it comes to word problems! I think and feel good about the reading comp, grammar, and math but science.....my goodness! Can I just get a whole lot of anatomy and biology questions?! Do they do it by sections? Per se, 10 questions from anatomy only, then 10 question from chemistry that would make up the science portion or all they all mixed into one entire science portion? The reading comp, is it based on medical things or just history, day to day topics, etc? Sorry so many questions but I want to put myself more at ease!

TEAS EXAM: I failed...Anyone take it with some advice?
Oh my gosh I am getting scared now! I have to take the test on Wednesday........so they don't give you a mixture of the sciences. I could get one test that has all physics/earth science? Can't I have anatomy? Ahhhhhhhh help! So were there analogies or anything like that on the exam? Exactly what kinds of things were on there so that I can pray harder!

TEAS EXAM: I failed...Anyone take it with some advice?
I too am excited for each and everyone of us! What a blessing it will be to be able to save lives and help others who are in need as nurses! I will get a GED prep book then and begin studying the science part! I am dreading the test cause I have not had anatomy in life 4 yrs! I have taken so many classes I can't keep up and cause it has been so long can't remember anatomy, the basis of all things in nursing! So, I am spending the next three weeks preparing for the test and will read my anatomy and chemistry books cover to cover! I will also incorporate the physical science portion once I get me a GED prep book from like the public library. So what are some of the things I will see on the test? Are there analogies, synonyms, antonyms? What should I expect? Grammar, spelling, sentence completions...? Can someone give me a heads up?

TEAS EXAM: I failed...Anyone take it with some advice?
Demel, I'm going to be taking the TEAS test in a couple of weeks as well. Have you been studying from an actual TEAS study guide or what have you been using to study? I bought a book from Barnes and Nobles made by Petersons which targets all nursing entrance exams.....do you think it will help?
-
TEAS EXAM: I failed...Anyone take it with some advice?
I live in FL but am studying to take the TEAS for a LPN school and a University out West that I was accepted to. I'm just going to take the test then decide if I will go to that university and do there nursing program or, if I pass the TEAS do the LPN and then bridge over. I have already been accepted to the LPN program according to my TABE score but, they're requiring another test since they have so many qualified applicants. So, I'm studying for both schools. What is passing on the TEAS? I didn't buy an actual TEAS exam study guide, I bought a book that is geared toward all the nursing entrance exams called Nursing School & Allied Health Entrance Exams made by Peterson. We'll see how it goes.

TEAS EXAM: I failed...Anyone take it with some advice?
Hey all, how are you? I too am getting ready to take the TEAS exam. I went to Barnes and Nobles today to buy some helpful study tips and told myself I will read that book from cover to cover! It seems that things are getting quite competitive everywhere you try to get into. So did you all have to take the TABE or something and then the TEAS? I do have a question. So if I take the TEAS here in Florida and choose to get into a nursing program outside of Florida, those test scores are good no matter where I go right?

Hillsborough Community College Spring 2009
wow that's scary! Well, all i can do is buy the study book and get to studying! The thing is we just don't have much time to study for it granted that classes begin again in August. Some of the review questions i was like wow how would i ever have known that! There are like physics questions on there! Oh well, everything happens for a reason. I'll just prepare as best as I can. Thanks for all of your help and we'll be in touch.

Hillsborough Community College Spring 2009
i hope that they don't implement it for us but, i'm sure they're thinking about doing it. i know that they will have very upset students! I did look up the site and thought to myself wow, they're wanting both tabe and teas scores...i think it should be one or the other. If they feel that the TABE is not challenging enough then they need to just have the TEAS. i'm doing practice questions and it is prety challenging. It is challenging especially if u haven't had these things in years! Boyle's and Charles' laws...wow!
