So... what did you guys choose for your clinical sites for next semester? Does anyone know when we will find out where we are going?

Calling all J2's!!! Any advice on choosing clinical sites or who are the best clinical instructors for next semester? I am a J1 about to have to decide on my clinical site for the fall. Yes, Supersweet. That is actually what I was asking, sorry. I saw the calculation on page 95, but it is a formula assuming we already have the body surface area. I was asking how do we calculate the body surface area. I also googled it, and the formulas I found seemed very complex. I am wondering if she expects us to know those formulas, since she had that question on our worksheet.

Hey guys I have a Pharm question. On the worksheet for pediatric, how do you calculate the body surface area of the child on the last question on the back page? Did she go over that and I just missed it?

I can't get on the twu website. Is everyone having this problem?

I am changing my earlier stance on remote parking. I used it today for the first time out of necessity. It is actually not that bad. For any of you who park there - what is the best way to get to it if you are coming south on 35? Do you go all the way down to Mockingbird? Or cut across to Harry Hines? Anyone have a tip on the best route traffic-wise?

anybody have concepts lab tomorrow? anybody get a clear idea of what we need, beyond wearing uniforms, and bringing immunizations and cpr? she went so fast today, i didn't really get what we needed to do to prepare for lab.

Concepts stuff is up. Kind of overwhelming. There is a ton of information. I hope things are explained better at the study skills lab on Thursday.

Does anyone else have Concepts up on Blackboard yet? I don't. I see the student nurse orientation, and already did that But in her email she said there was also a vocab test that we need to complete the day before class. However I don't see that up, nor do I see any course info for Concepts. What do you guys have up? I only have assessment so far.

The softest scrubs I have found are Grey's Anatomy brand. Unfortunately they don't make burgundy pants. But I bought their tops and lab coat, and am very pleased with both the softness and style. I am fretting over not having my shoes yet, and also the fact that I decided to buy my books from everywhere BUT majors, and although I saved a lot now I don't get to take advantage of the ebook pkg that they included, which can not be bought separately. I guess I should have listened better at orientation. :-)

I was told at Majors that to get JUST the ebooks would be $600. They apparently sell for 90% of the print books' price. However, Evolve throws it in with the pkg. How do I get in contact with the Evolve sales rep to find out for sure?

Thanks for the advice! I have actually already bought everything from other sources, but just realized that the ebooks are only available with the pkg. So now i am faced with the decision whether it is worth it to go through the hassle of returning everything i have already purchased, and buying the pkg to get the ebooks. it will basically cost me and extra $150, plus my time and energy in packing up these books and sending them back. i even already purchased all the online resources. ugh.

Hello J2's! I am a J1 starting in a couple weeks. I have a quick question - I hope you can help me. Did you guys purchase the book pkg from Majors? If so, did you get the ebook version of your textbooks (Pharm, NCLEX review, etc) with it? If you did, how much do you use it? I am trying to decide whether to spend the extra $$ for the pkg specifically to get the ebooks cd, since it is the only thing I can not purchase separately and cheaper from other sources. Thanks for your advice!

What kind of shoes did you guys end up buying? I ordered several pairs off of Zappos, planning to return the ones I didn't like. However, I didn't like any of them, and returned them all. So I still need shoes. Any suggestions?

All - Assessment info is up on blackboard. There still isn't a calendar or schedule with it though. Frustrating. I'd like to know which weeks I have to be there on Monday vs. Thursday. All lectures are online though. I thought someone said we only ever had lecture or lab each week, but it looks like lecture is done on our own time, and we have lab every week. Since I have a Mon/Thurs schedule I have no clue what days I am supposed to be there for lab. She did say in the course announcements that she would explain further at the study skills thing.

Never mind. I had emails in my twu mail about cpr. I was expecting mail in my gmail account, since that is the one that I listed on the sign-up sheet. Is anyone else annoyed that apparently all of the other nursing students have access to our email addresses and apparently can email us about anything they want to sell?

Can anyone tell me what all was in the Majors pack that wasn't listed in our required textbooks? Was there a drug guide? Any other "extra" resources?
